Marge vs. the Monorail - S4-E12

Question: Was the whole point of Lyle's flight to Tahiti making a brief layover in North Haverbrook so the citizens there could get their revenge on Lyle? (00:18:30)

Casual Person

Chosen answer: No. Lyle's flight having a layover in North Haverbrook was a happy accident for its citizens. It is unknown why the plane had a layover, except it suiting the plot.

Question: In the Director's Cut, was the conversation that Lawrence had with the old man a dream or did it really happen? Lawrence dropped his wallet then put it in his bag and the old man offered to give Lawrence his cane, but he politely declines. After waking up, the old man is gone but his cane is there, and Lawrence's wallet is back on the floor on the same spot.

Chosen answer: It really happened. The discrepancies are meant to show Lawrence's mental state.

The Girl in the Mask - S4-E23

Question: When Doctor Brennan is examining the victim's skull, she states that a "straight suture across the palatine bone" indicates that the victim was a native Japanese speaker. I've studied linguistics, but I've never heard of a person's native language actually affecting their anatomy. So, for example: would a person of Japanese heritage who was born and raised in the US and spoke only English be distinguishable from a person who grew up in Japan and spoke only Japanese, purely by their palatine bones? (00:06:10)

Question: Why is the only word that Kirby can say through the entire show is "Poyo"? And is there any relation to the Spanish word "pollo" of the same pronunciation that means chicken?

Quantom X Premium member

Chosen answer: No it has nothing to do with the Spanish word pollo. Kirby is saying that because he is young, just a baby.

Question: After powering up Stark tower in New York, Tony and Pepper have a brief conversation about a "security snafu" in their elevator that she was responsible for in some way. What exactly would that security thing be?

Quantom X Premium member

Chosen answer: It is mentioned during the conversation, that construction workers used Tony's personal elevator. Tony is using the term "Security Breach" as an exaggeration.

Question: Was any reason ever given for why Jarod was abducted as a child and what the Centre wanted to do with him?

Chosen answer: Jarod was kidnapped because he is a child prodigy. A super genius, like all the other children, who were taken by the Centre. They needed him to construct improbable theories, that have world wide implications. Assassination, terrorist threats and military coupes. At first they used it to help governments, but then realised it was for their own ends. Which is why he escaped and to find his family.

Question: Was any member of the team aware that they were infected by the creature, or did they not know they were until they began changing?

Chosen answer: The death of Fuchs is probably the best answer to this question, as it appeared that Fuchs burned himself alive before the Thing could assimilate him. It's also possible that Norris suspected he was infected before he transformed. There is a scene in which we see Norris, who is alone, suddenly wince in pain, surprised, and grab at his chest, but he continues functioning normally thereafter. Following the altercation with Mac, Norris collapses and becomes unresponsive, until his chest cracks wide open and bites off Copper's arms. Also, in the blood test scene, Palmer's facial expressions appear to betray his secret, but he was already fully transformed at that point.

Question: When O is speaking in Finucian for her eulogy of Zed, you see the tombstone-like monument statues of other fallen MiB agents behind her. One of them bears the initial, T. But wasn't T J's partner in the beginning of MiB II, and only neutralized and not killed? So why is his statue there?

Quantom X Premium member

Chosen answer: An agent's name comes from the first letter of their first name. Even if J neutralized T, there was most likely another Agent T (whose first name began with T) who joined MIB and died battling aliens.

Casual Person

Question: What was the song that played in Happy's Happy Place? Not the rock part with Shooter McGavin, the first part.

Chosen answer: It's called "We've only just begun".

Bonnie Cottrell

Question: Boris used the first time jump device to go back in time to 1969. J used the second one. You see throughout the movie that J has his with him for obvious reasons. But you never see what happened to Boris' device. So what did he do with it?

Quantom X Premium member

Chosen answer: He probably just put it in his pocket until he needed it again to go back to the present. Most likely, it would have been destroyed when 2012 Boris was killed after he was burnt by the space shuttle.

Casual Person

Question: O says that back in Cape Canaveral, in the unaltered time line, something happened to K that changed him. All that's really said though, is that he stopped and arrested Boris the Animal there. So what exactly was it that changed K?

Quantom X Premium member

Chosen answer: He saw J's father murdered by Boris. In the unaltered timeline, J says that his father wasn't around. We see this at the end and it's also why J was recruited into the Men In Black. K was keeping an eye on him the whole time.

Question: When Marty and Doc arrive in the bad 1985, they learn that 1985 has changed and are told that alternate versions of themselves exist. Alternate Doc has been committed and alternate Marty is at a boarding school in Switzerland. Nice movie trick to keep them from running into their alternate selves. Question though, isn't the 1985 at the start of this movie also an alternate 1985? This too has been altered from the original 1985 as seen at the beginning of the first movie. So, where are the alternate Marty and Doc in the timeline when Marty's family is actually upper middle class? Since this is an alternate 1985 as well, where is "rich" Marty? Why didn't he bump into his other self, the Marty that owns the black pickup truck?

Carl Missouri

Chosen answer: We see the alternate Marty depart for the past at the end of the the first movie. As for Doc, as he's simply lived through the thirty years from when the timeline was changed, rather than jumping through time to get there, he actually is the alternate Doc.

The Girl with Two Breasts - S1-E5

Question: What language is Jeff speaking when we see through Shedayem's point of view? I suppose it could be gibberish, but I really do think it's a real language, if only for the fact that you can plainly understand when he says "translator" as "translatet."

Chosen answer: It is completely improvised gibberish, created by actor Richard Coyle.

Question: In the final scene, Wilee is doing a narration whilst he rides his bike. In the background a song is playing. What is this song? The song also continues to play as the end credits go along. (01:20:30 - 01:21:00)

Casual Person

Chosen answer: The song is "Baba O'Riley" by The Who.

Question: During the chase scene at the impound lot, Wilee is chased by a cop onto a high platform and another cop climbs on top of the platform. To avoid the other cop, Wilee jumps off the platform with his bike. In a sudden close-up of Wilee, a slash sound is heard. What is this slash sound I am hearing? (01:11:40)

Casual Person

Chosen answer: I think that sound is the front wheel giving way. If you look closely, you can see that his front wheel is wobbling a little as he escapes. This may be why he ditches his bike and steals the cop's bike soon after.

Question: In the Lunar Max prison, the guards have patches on their uniforms bearing the initials, IDOC. What does that stand for?

Quantom X Premium member

Chosen answer: Most likely "Intergalactic Department Of Corrections."

Question: The terrorists' attempt to obtain the three Cerberus pass-codes was a major plot point. After they obtained the first two, the third was apparently somehow obtained without it being provided by the president. How?

Chosen answer: They had a computer hacker, Lim, trying to hack the code the whole time. She finally succeeded.

Question: Why does the baby's face look so weird?

Quantom X Premium member

Chosen answer: It's because it's a computer generated image. Renesmee, Edward and Bella's daughter, grows almost three times as fast as a normal human child would, maturing in about seven years. To achieve the effect, a young actress was used for the motion capture and the as the framework for what Renesmee would look like at various stages of her development. CGI effects have come a long way, but it's still imperfect and can look unnatural.
