Question: Why did Trisha's mom force her to go to the dance with Napoleon?

Chosen answer: When Uncle Rico is selling stuff to Tricia's mom, he mentions how Napoleon has had a hard life. (I believe he talks about how Napoleon lost his parents or something to that extent, if I remember correctly.) Tricia's mom feels sorry for Napoleon, and makes Tricia go out with him.

Question: Why does Kenny only die occasionally in the later seasons, not in every episode?

Chosen answer: Because Trey Parker and Matt Stone got bored with having to find new ways of killing Kenny each episode. Originally they wrote him out completely by killing him in "Kenny dies" but they decided to bring him back but without having to kill him each episode.

Andreas[DK]

Question: Did they give a reason why O'Neill was recalled? Did he have special qualifications that made him the only one capable of carrying out the mission?

Chosen answer: He was known to be suicidal. He was picked because they wanted someone who wouldn't mind getting killed as the gate was blown up on the other side.

Question: When Sydney and the President are having dinner alone at Sydney's place (I think) around Christmastime, there is a beautiful song playing softly in the background. It is being sung by what sounds like two or three sopranos. Does anyone know the name of this song and its composer?

Chosen answer: The aria is "Viens, Mallika" from "Lakmé", composed by Léo Delibes.

Question: During the final fight Mr. Fantastic makes a remark about hot metal cooling fast, what is this about?

Chosen answer: Ever see Aliens 3? When a metal gets hot, it expands. When it suddenly cools, it doesn't contract evenly and often shatters or pops. It would seem he was made of a tougher metal than we thought, as he's still in one piece, but immobilised (for the moment...).

Question: Why exactly is death working backwards in this movie? I don't really understand it.

Chosen answer: Death is trying to erase the mistake "he" made. It's like knitting or something, if you make a mistake you have to start at the end and unwind the threads untill the mistake has gone. That is why death is working backwards, to tie up the loose ends.

Question: Why does Susan Storm nose bleed when she uses her powers.

Chosen answer: It's a generally accepted idea that using superpowers (especially force fields/telekinesis) is very draining on the body and mind, and is often seen to cause nosebleeds. Plus, any physically difficult task will cause the same thing if you overexert yourself enough.

Question: What is the song that is playing in the background when the recording of the teacher phoning the authorities is playing? It continues throughout the filming of Columbine School.

Chosen answer: The song sounds very much like an acoustic guitar version of "Beecher's Lament" by Jeff Gibbs, who is credited with composing all original music for the film, including this song. A beautiful, haunting piano dominated version of this song appears on his only CD "Reflections". The song can be sampled at Jeff Gibb's web page. Link provided http://www.jeffgibbs.com/music.shtml

Question: In the "first timeline", Marty's father is a loser. He has never hit Biff. Marty goes to the past, and when he's going to 1985, he says that to Doc. He returns to the "new" 1985, where his father is successful, and he has hit Biff. He sees himself going to 1955, and that Marty is about to do everything that Marty did in the movie. But here's a question: that Marty lives in the "second timeline", where his father has hit Biff. Why then, in the past, he would say that his father has never hit Biff in his whole life?

Chosen answer: I see two possible explanations. One is simply that the improved George McFly never told Marty the story about how he clocked Biff, perhaps to keep Marty from getting into fights himself. The other explanation is that the 1955 Marty went back to had not yet changed before he came back to the improved 1985. As the slowly-changing photograph illustrates, changes in timelines can be very gradual. Therefore, the only version of 1955 we are able see is the 1955 that the Marty of the original 1985 went back to.

Question: What is the origin of the magic cupboard?

Chosen answer: The cupboard isn't magical. It was found by Omri's brothers in the alley behind their house and given to him for his birthday. The magic comes from the key, which Omri's mom gave to him after seeing the cupboard. It originally belonged to either her grandmother or aunt, I forget which. In the books, Omri is able to use the key in other objects (like a trunk) proving the key has the magic, not the old cupboard.

Question: When Reed, Sue and Ben see Johnny on TV, they see that he has a four on his uniform. Sue asks where it came from and at this point a brief glimpse of a four is also on Reeds uniform but then he quickly hides it giving the indication that he put one on his uniform as well as the others. If Reed only wanted to find a way of getting rid of their powers, then why would he place a four on his uniform? He didn't want to use his powers to help people at all. He only wanted to find a way to cure himself and the others.

Chosen answer: From the look on Reed's face, I assumed he checked to see if he had the patch on his suit as well. He sees that he does and in order to hide it from the others in fear of Ben and Susan thinking he was involved, he hid it quickly and did not mention it.

Question: Now, I may be missing some big symbolic thing here, but what exactly did the tanks and the jets represent, or where they just mistakes or something?

Chosen answer: There are many "current" images added in to convey an up-to-date parallel of what was happening. The planes & tanks were to show the power of the Roman government. Also the merchants sinning by selling in the temple are selling postcards, prostitution, drugs, & even machine guns in the movie. It was to give something modern for viewers to relate to. The guards carry guns as well as the roman spears of the time. The modern "anything goes" in the sexual area is clear in the modern version of Herod's escapades.

Death Lives - S3-E6

Question: This may sound a bit stupid, but why do a all the animals start making noise when Death walks into the pet store?

Chosen answer: This references the concept that animals are more tuned in to see supernatural things (ghosts, demons, and apparently Death). In many movies, you see animals acting strange when something supernatural is about to occur.

Question: After the tour guide takes the bad head count when they all get on the boat, you can see him counting them all again. Why didn't he notice right then that 2 people were missing? Also, the diving company was missing 2 scuba tanks and they didn't notice?

Chosen answer: The whole idea with the movie was the bad count. Nobody knows why he counted wrong.

Question: Does anybody know any information about the - I think it is a scar - on Dr. Evil's face. How did he get it / what happened? Or is this never explained?

Hamster Premium member

Chosen answer: There is never an explanation given for the scar. I assume it is meant to be the same scar as belonged to Blofeld (the head of SPECTRE) from You Only Live Twice, and played by Donald Pleasence. Dr. Evil is essentially a parody of Blofeld.
