Question: Everyone tells Luanne that her father is working on an oil rig, not wanting her to know that he is actually in jail. But she knew that her mother was in jail, so why not tell the truth about her father?

Answer: Couple things, first only Peggy knew the truth about Hoyt (Luanne's father) being in prison and Peggy is the one who said he's on an oil rig. But, Hoyt is Peggy's brother, so she could have been trying to hide the fact her brother is in jail. Lucky (Luanne's husband) deduced Hoyt had been in prison, but seems to be the only other person to know the truth, so when Hoyt went back to prison, he kept Peggy's lie up to spare Luanne. Additionally, Luanne was there when her mother stabbed Hoyt and was arrested, so it's not like someone had to break the news to her and they couldn't hide the fact. With Hoyt, even if Peggy wasn't trying to protect her brother's reputation, she didn't want Luanne, who is a sensitive and emotional young woman, to have to deal with knowing both parents are in jail.

Chosen answer: Michael Douglas was not playing the piano himself. Special effects were used to digitally graft Douglas' head onto the body of Philip Fortenberry, a Julliard-trained pianist who also once played at the now-closed Liberace Museum in Las Vegas.

Question: Rose's mother says that Rose's father left a lot of debt, but it's hidden by "a good name." Did nobody ever attempt to collect the debts? How would his name stop them?

Answer: The wealthiest members of society, in 1912 and still today, are simply treated differently. It is a certainty that creditors would give a good measure of leeway to the recent widow of a man with a certain position in society, particularly a member of an "old money" family. It is entirely possible that collection on debts had been attempted, and Ruth Dewitt Bukater was able to delay and obfuscate. Her desperation to marry off Rose to Caledon Hockley suggests the wolves may very well have been at the door, or were getting close.

Chosen answer: I think the hypnotism broke something instead of putting him into a trance. It totally released his stress, that stayed despite not being influenced by the hypnotism anymore.

Question: Why was Lists in prison? What did he do?

Answer: While it is never revealed what Lists done to earn a place in prison, it is shown that Hennesey will frame certain people to get them sent to her prison. As she did with Ames.

Ssiscool

Answer: In the sequel, it is revealed he is in prison for murdering his wife.

Question: Could Anna see ghosts? Why was she shivering in the closet and then ran out of it in fear? Also in the end why was she shivering and answering Malcolm? Was she ignoring him all the time?

Darshan Bari

Chosen answer: No, she can't see ghosts...no one but Cole can. But it is established that everyone can feel the "chilling" effect of the ghosts, and feel an inexplicable coldness in their presence. Naturally, this freaks them out, so it's natural Anna (and everyone else) would run from it. At the end, she wasn't answering Malcolm, just as throughout the film what appears to be her ignoring him is simply her not being aware of his presence. She's merely talking in her sleep, and Malcolm, as he does every other time, mistakes this for a direct interaction...until he realises the truth.

Actually I do believe she was answering him. Cole told him to go talk to her while she slept. After finding out ghosts come to him for help, this is Cole helping Malcolm. It's possible Cole knew it is possible for ghosts to communicate with other people this way.

Actually I believe the cellar is just cold in the first scene. Instead, I think she is spooked and thinks something is odd since Vincent was actually in the cellar hiding when she was down there. At some point afterwards he snuck up to the bathroom before being confronted by Malcolm. Any other interaction between Anna and the cold is likely the sensation of being near a ghost though.

Animals could sense them too, or at least the ones in paranormal activity can.

Paranormal Activity has nothing to do with this movie.

Answer: A castle that size would not go unnoticed by the local populace. In addition, Gaston had the mirror with him. He could have asked it to show him the way to the castle.

Question: When Judy cooks carrots in the microwave, she stands too close to the microwave while it's active. Isn't it hazardous to stand too close to a microwave while it's cooking?

Answer: No, that's a complete myth. Paraphrased from http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/10/health/10real.html: "Every microwave must limit the amount of radiation it can leak to five milliwatts per square centimeter at roughly two inches away from the oven. That is far below the levels of radiation that have been shown to harm humans. (By comparison, the most common cellphones operate at a peak power of about 1.6 watts or less, and most studies have found no evidence linking the phones to health problems.) Manufacturers of microwave ovens are also required to line the doors of the machines with metal mesh that prevents microwaves from escaping, and to use a type of door latch that stops the production of microwaves whenever the latch is released. Those features greatly limit exposure to levels of radiation that are already low. And since the radiation levels drop sharply with increasing distance, the levels two feet away are about one-hundredth the amount at two inches."

Question: In the game where Doug Glatt makes a dive and the puck hits him in the face. Around that time we see someone step on his ankle with their skate which would have caused some pain, but we see after the game in some pub, Glatt walking around normally. Even with major painkillers, shouldn't he still be limping?

oobs69

Chosen answer: Not necessarily. It would depend on the level of the injury and how much time had passed. It may be that it initially hurt a lot, but after treatment, being wrapped, and prescribed pain killers he could walk fairly normally.

Answer: The chain is fairly long and loose, it's able to fit over both their heads without being unclasped, so it would fit around his neck too.

Question: Who is the actor at the press conference who says "Are you getting married?" and what is written on the side of William's refrigerator?

Answer: Uncredited actor Taylor Murphy asks "are the two of you getting married?" under the Elvis Costello song, "She." The side of William's refrigerator has a set of magnetized words, found on many refrigerators, which can be arranged and rearranged to form messages for communication to other members of the household, or created just for fun.

Question: What exactly did Darrin and Chris steal and how did they get caught? Also, why was their sentence seven years and how did Chris end up in a wheelchair?

Answer: It was never said what they stole, just that they were going to go to the store (probably a corner store or convenience store) and they probably stole food. They got caught because they were just kids and not good at stealing or being sneaky. However, they didn't get a 7-year sentence for the theft. It's just that the film jumps to 7 years later and Darrin is now a gang member who has been in and out of jail the whole time. He's just celebrating his release from prison for a different, unknown crime. Chris is in a wheelchair due to a gun shot wound, though it's not stated how or who shot him.

Bishop73

I wouldn't be surprised if Chris shot himself with the gun he alludes to having earlier on in the film when they are still children.

Question: Who's the guy with the pacifier in his mouth all the time and why does he need one?

Answer: His name is Dooky, he's one of the friends of the main characters. Around the time this film was created, sucking pacifiers was somewhat popular amongst black youths in the United States. Several prominent hip-hop artists were seen doing so and in turn, many of their young fans emulated them. There was a belief that the trend started as a way to surreptitiously consume drugs such as LSD through the pacifier but this seems more myth than actual fact.

BaconIsMyBFF

Probably ecstasy, actually. They chew on pacifiers while they're tripping because it keeps you from grinding your teeth.

Answer: His name is Dooky. He is one of Doughboy's friends.

Chosen answer: Because Peter is one of Mary Jane's closest friends. It would be awkward inviting him but not having him there would no doubt be upsetting to Mary Jane. Inviting Peter is simply the right thing to do.

BaconIsMyBFF

Chosen answer: It's not known how or in what way Obi Wan is powerful or if that power can be physically extended to the living world. Also, for various reasons, Luke, to fulfill his destiny to be a Jedi, must be the one to confront and defeat Vader, though Obi Wan can still guide him.

There seems to be a common theme (in movies, shows) that a dead person must "move on", and those who are still alive must forge their own path, complete their own journey, etc. This also happens when Dumbledore dies in the Harry Potter series.

Question: How did Io die and why didn't Gemma Arterton reprise her role? If she was resurrected by Zeus at the end of the first movie, why couldn't he do it again?

Answer: No particular reason, she was filming Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. The producers of the movie thought it would be easier to say she died, rather than recast her.

Question: Would the interference from the plutonium keep the RC car from working?

Answer: Radiation wouldn't necessarily affect a remote control car. It would contaminate it, but beyond that the car would continue to work.

Question: In Equador, two women pass by Chappel and Ramsdell. Chappel says something to Ramsdell and they follow the women. What did he say? The subtitle is omitted here.

Question: Wouldn't it be easier if Stewart just attached his cab to 777 and any other qualified personnel with him just walked from Steward to 777 and took control of it, too easy perhaps? Or the welder could have someone with a BB gun in the back to shoot the famous "kill switch" next to fuel tank, instead of the cops trying to?

Answer: Yeah, but it wouldn't be nearly as dramatic.

Answer: Put a man in the back of the truck with a broomstick and use it to push the fuel cut off switch as the truck drives alongside the train.

The Naked Time - S1-E5

Question: Has it been overlooked that in this episode Spock seems to intuitively know that the sword Sulu is wielding is of the 16th (or 17th) century? It is made clear that Sulu is chasing crewmen with 'a sword' but the type of sword and the manner in which Sulu challenges the men, is not known. Later Spock gives an 'overview' of what is happening on the ship describing Sulu as a 16th (or 17th) century swashbuckler - but the bridge crew had no prior knowledge of what sword Sulu was using or how he was speaking... Was that just one of Spock's "best guesses"?

Answer: It is never revealed how Spock knew this. This is either an educated guess on his part, or else Spock, who is intellectually superior to most humans, has a particular interest in or knowledge of ancient Earth history and is familiar with different types of weapons.
