Ant-Man

Question: As Kurt is loading the hack to deactivate the laser grid, Paxton and his partner are banging on the van, demanding that Kurt and Dave come out. Just as the program finishes loading, the cops open the door and drag them out. If the van was locked, how did they open the door? If It wasn't locked, why did it take so long to just open the door?

MFWills

Chosen answer: They could have opened it with a crowbar or a Jaws of Life. (Likely the crowbar, since we didn't hear metal rending).

Question: At several points in the movie, Scott Lang, while small, jumps into and punches a man, who goes flying backwards. However, in the battle with Cross after falling into the swimming pool, Cross, while small, jumps at him and Scott, while large, is able to effortlessly swat him into the bug zapper. A similar thing happens during Scott's fight with The Falcon. So, in a collision between someone large and someone small, who is supposed to win, and who is supposed to go flying?

Ethan Dowley

Chosen answer: Despite the explanation given in the movie for being able to reduce objects and people being "reducing the space between atoms", there are clear indications that there's more to it than that as that explanation wouldn't enable changes of mass (i.e. No way an ant could carry the full weight of a man even if he was reduced in size). Therefore there is some way of changing mass at the same time as size and the two aren't necessarily linked (Scott has low mass when riding ants but much higher when he's punching people). Based on this its apparent that when Scott swats Cross into the buzzer he had low mass. So the answer to the question is - it depends on the mass of the smaller person at the time of the collision.

Question: When Ant-Man is traveling through the pipes, he reaches an intersection where ants hang down for him to grab and go up. How did those ants get ahead of him, and why didn't he just do what they did to get to that point?

Answer: The ants come from everywhere, they just came from the other side.

lionhead

Question: Where did that hydra boss go? I didn't see him on the helicopter.

Answer: Ant-Man punched him, knocking him unconscious, when they were in the vault, so he was presumably killed when the Pym Technologies building exploded.

Question: Scott throws discs which enlarge/shrink whatever they hit, except when he throws them at Darren in Cassie's bedroom. Darren is able to bat them away. One hits an ant, the other the train engine, both of which enlarge. Why didn't Darren enlarge when he touched the discs?

MFWills

Chosen answer: I can assume it was because they didn't attach, just touched.

Question: Scott Lang managed to go subatomic and survive - is it possible that the wasp (a.k.a. Janet Pym) survived when she went subatomic?

Sam Wong

Chosen answer: Almost certainly - given comments about that area being separate from normal time and space (coupled with the photo of her and Michael Douglas when young only showing her with her face covered, ie. Without a specific actress cast), it does hint strongly that she'll be rescued at some point, most likely having not aged a day.

Jon Sandys

Question: SPOILER: When Scott invades the helicopter to stop Cross, Cross appears in the Yellowjacket armour. The Yellowjacket armour before this was placed inside glass casing and was miniaturised. My question here is, how exactly did Cross get the Yellowjacket armour to human size before putting it on?

Chosen answer: The suit was built human-size and then shrunk using Pym particles. The same technology can also be used to grow objects. Cross was shown to have a hand-held device earlier in the film capable of shrinking, so he either used this device, or activated the suit's built-in growing/shrinking technology.

Continuity mistake: Cross is holding a normal striker fired (no external hammer) Glock handgun against the head of Ant-Man. In order to save his life, Hope orders the ants to block the firing mechanism of the gun, and they block a suddenly-visible hammer on the Glock. (01:26:00 - 01:27:00)
