Question: There is a red flag behind Obadiah while he was "freezing" Reza, and the same flag appears in the video watched by Pepper on Tony's desktop. The same flag / logo was used by Mandarin in Iron Man 3. Was it the same "enemy platform", being manipulated by the bad guys?

Answer: The flag has the symbol of "The Ten Rings" the terrorist group that captured Stark. Which is a real in universe terrorist group in the MCU. Aldrich Killian used the flag for his Mandarin videos to add some credibility to his scheme.

Answer: No.

Answer: It's a fictional film, but Dr. Ben Carson, the real-life neurosurgeon who is now a member of the Trump Administration, had a cameo role in the film which may have led some to believe that this was based on a true story.

Question: After R2-D2 helps fix the escaping ship, Queen Amidala thanks the droid in front of Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and her handmaidens, but Amidala's decoy refers to her handmaiden as Padme. Why doesn't she refer to her as Sabe? Doesn't everyone know that Queen Amidala's first name is Padme?

Answer: Padme was impersonating a handmaid, using her real name. Sabe was playing her role of Queen Amidala. This was unknown to Qui-Gon.

raywest

But the point is that using the queen's real name seems like it's giving the game away a bit.

Queen Amidala supposedly has 2 handmaidens. Sabe and Padme. Nobody knows Padme is the real Queen's name, they just know her as Queen Amidala.

lionhead

Qui Gon and Obi Wan do not know Queen Amidala, having only recently met her, or that her real name is Padme.

Question: If Venom knew everything Peter knew while he wore the black suit (symbiote), why didn't he try to recruit Harry (The New Goblin) into him and Sandman's alliance against Spider-Man? He obviously knew Harry did not like Peter based on their second fight which consisted of Peter wearing the black suit.

Answer: Well, Peter did sort-of hurl a grenade into Harry's face, which puts him at a disadvantage. Why recruit someone whose already been badly injured and thus possibly more a liability than a help? Plus, it's likely that Venom saw Harry (who is still a person, albeit enhanced) as being less of a benefit than Sandman or too much of a wildcard given his past with Peter.

Question: Mike and Sulley are able to activate the door when stuck at the kids camp by harnessing enough screams to activate it. If laughter is 10 times more powerful than screams, then why wouldn't child laughter (especially if there is a Birthday party, etc.) not activate doors from the "human world" allowing kids to go into the factory (monster world) all the time?

Answer: Well a door first needs to be activated from the monster side. See the doors of the human world lack the receiver for the energy they need to open the doorway between worlds (the red light on top). That's why in the monster world they hook a door up to a machine to activate it allowing the passage between worlds before any scream or laugh is made. It costs power to activate a door to allow a monster in. Boo was able to activate doors because she was in the monster world and her screams and laughs triggered the devices on top of the doors, activating them automatically. This was the first time ever a human entered the monster world.

Question: Mr. Vernon knew that Brian, John, Claire and Andrew had detention for what they did, so when Alison shows up as well, why did he let her have detention? Why didn't he tell her to go back home?

Answer: It's pretty clear he doesn't much care to be there, and has little more than contempt for the students. Given that clerical errors are a daily part of life in most schools, he likely just assumed she was supposed to be there but the paperwork was wrong.

Question: When Marietta denied that there had been any other meetings, was that just to let her friends off? I don't see why she rats them out one minute and then tries to protect them the next.

THE GAMER NEXT DOOR

Answer: Because her memory was charmed by Kingsley Shacklebolt before she could.

Greg Dwyer

Answer: They're both muscle cars, but that's about the extent of the similarities. But the 70's were filled with a lot of muscle cars, so some car models may look a bit like another's. Billy's car is a late 70's Chevy Camaro (probably a ‘79). Mad Max's car is a 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT. Incidentally, the Ford Falcon was produced by Ford Australia and wasn't an American car, or even sold in America (as in not sold at dealerships).

Bishop73

According to the experts its a Camaro '78 with added vented side fenders.

A Jolting Switcheroo! - S17-E16

Question: Lyn mistakenly takes Bonnie's identical satchel containing Dedenne, but shouldn't Lyn's satchel be a different color so the mix-up doesn't happen?

Answer: The girls each had the same bags the only thing that made them different was that they had different buttons sewn onto them.

Answer: It just happened because the girls each had the same colored bag.

Question: What do the T-Birds mean when they ask Rizzo "What are you doing out without a net/Annette?" Is it just another Annette Funicello reference? That always confused me.

Answer: He's referring to a safety net that acrobats would use because she's climbing down the trellis and it's dangerous.

Greg Dwyer

I always assumed they thought she needed 'a net' to catch a guy.

Answer: It is because she was climbing off the roof and down the trellis, and it was dangerous as she could have fallen and hurt herself. That is why they said she was doing that without a net.

Answer: I thought it referred to a hair net like one to cover curlers.

Answer: A net is what they used to call bras.

Answer: I thought it meant she needs a net to catch her and that she would fall.

Answer: Women wore hair nets to sleep to keep their curls in place - they are giving her crap for not wearing a hair net.

Question: Why is Amanda the only Jigsaw victim who never has to harm herself to win the game, but kill another, making her game easier to win than the others?

Answer: She's technically not. A number of others have been put in traps/games where they don't necessarily have to meet physical harm throughout the series, including this film. Amanda's game is based more around emotional turmoil and a time-limit, which are tactics Jigsaw often uses either instead of or in conjunction with physical torment.

Answer: She's actually not. Dr. Gordon could have won his game without mutilating himself by killing Adam. And as for why she doesn't have to harm herself, since she has a large device rigged around her head with the lock attached at the back, Jigsaw may have decided it would be more fair to her to not have to mutilate herself to get the key.

Phaneron

Answer: She isn't. In fact, the bathroom game in this film is a perfect example of contradicting this, as Dr. Gordon has to kill Adam to win his game.

Question: Why do Borg always attack earth with only one single ship? We already know from ST: Voyager that Borg have so many ships in the delta-quadrant that they sometimes attack with 10 or more ships at the same time. Why don't they just send 2 or 3 of their cubes next time? Borg knows that the Federation needed their very last resources and a lot of luck to defeat the Borg Cube last time (Battle of Wolf359). So 2 ships at least should do the job this time. Instead they again send one cube and risk defeat.

Goekhan

Answer: The Borg think like machines. They have calculated that one cube is enough to conquer Earth so they send one cube. Both times they were defeated because of incalculable events. Both times they didn't have a reason to send more than one cube.

lionhead

This is wrong. Borg do have a big reason to send more than one cube the second time. They know that Locutus (Picard) is there somewhere and can log-in into the Borg hive when Borg are near him. He received visions from the Borg shortly before battle and calculated with this information "unimportant" weak-spots which destroyed the second Borg cube. If someone knows your weak spots and this someone is nearby, then Borgs should be more precautious than last time.

Goekhan

The Enterprise was not at the battle, the Borg knew that, Picard went in against orders and intervened. This time the Borg took more than just a cube anyway, they took time travel with them. They probably had it as a contingency plan.

lionhead

The contingency plan is even more brainless, explaining one plot hole with another one. There is absolutely no need to fly into the earths atmosphere to start their time machine. They could've done it even more safely before entering federation territory.

Goekhan

That doesn't make any sense. They didn't have to enter the atmosphere, I don't even think they did. The sphere escaped the exploding cube and almost immediately opened a vortex. Also, saying that they "could have done it even more safely before entering federation space" is nonsense since they needed to be in federation space for the contingency plan anyway. Nothing safer about it doing it outside of federation space, just takes more time.

lionhead

Answer: The Borg don't care that much about Earth, or losing a single cube. They are mostly testing the water before fully expanding towards the Alpha Quadrant. Their space is in the Delta Quadrant and still a long way from expanding into the Alpha Quadrant.

Not entirely true because the Borg queen was on board the cube, and they had a contingency plan to go back in time, making their efforts quite elaborate. They have attacked Earth twice now, because they know about it from the Enterprise (and Q) and plan on conquering it and expand into the Alpha Quadrant. A cube is equivalent to an entire fleet of ships and Picard accurately calls this action by the Borg an invasion (the second one).

Question: What does Joey mean when he says "quarters, or rolls of quarters?" when he replied to the lady that says she can "pick up quarters with her toes"?

Answer: She says quarters, but then starts sliding her foot up his thigh and demonstrates that her toes are more dextrous than he first realised.

Jon Sandys

Answer: This can be answered two ways. Joey could be asking if she is nimble enough with her toes to be able to pick up an individual quarter as well as grab an entire roll of them. However, this is Joey, and he is likely implying a sexual double entendre to the meaning of "rolls of quarters" by implying they are phallic in shape.

Question: What happened to Abby the Elf? She was in the second movie and should have been young enough to have been in the third movie.

Answer: She is in the movie. In the scene Where Carol is being rushed to the hospital, Abby is by her side.

Answer: The same thing that I think happened to Judy, she was too old for the role to continue.

Question: If he can't afford more than crappy coffee and oatmeal, then how does he afford all the alcohol and fancy restaurants he goes to?

Answer: I think the breakfast is free, however the lower class doesn't get a fancy meal for free but a more basic type. The restaurants and bar on the other hand cost money.

lionhead

Answer: Perhaps customers at the bar and restaurant are allowed to run a tab that doesn't have to be settled until they are leaving the Starship Avalon and about to go to Homestead II. (This could be risky given the different resources of the passengers.) Or maybe the bar and restaurant are included in the fee for some passengers and staff would typically be at the door to allow admission to these passengers; Jim - awake and roaming - may be assumed to be eligible to use the bar/restaurant when, under normal circumstances, he would not be permitted to enter.

KeyZOid

Answer: I wondered about this, too. His lower-class passage limits his breakfast choice. However, it seems that any passenger should be able to upgrade their individual meals at anytime and order what they want, as he does in the multiple on-board restaurants. It may be that breakfast, for whatever reason, is exempt from that option.

raywest

Yeah but they simply push a button for the breakfast and actually order food from the restaurants. You might think he would just go ahead and go to one of the restaurants to get his breakfast, but maybe they aren't open yet at that time. The ship seems to be more of a cross between a luxurious cruise and boot-camp. The breakfast is perhaps standard ship protocol.

lionhead

I agree the paid for bar and restaurant don't probably open until 'Evening time' on the ship (You don't want your workers getting drunk all day, Jim is work group). The ship has a day and night clock system as heard by the announcer. I suppose Jim could change his wake up and sleep time to get a decent breakfast in the Chinese, but then his dinner would be basic and he wouldn't be able to have a drink before bed. What would you choose? Basic breakfast, good evening meal with drinks or good breakfast, basic evening meal and no drinks.

Question: Archibald Snatcher's main goal is to exterminate the Boxtrolls, but why did he also try to get Eggs killed? Eggs is a human.

Answer: Snatcher wants membership in the White Hats and is ready to sacrifice anyone plus Eggs is proof that Boxtrolls don't kill humans.

Question: Why is Hannah always looking at Jack in a weird way? She does this at least twice in the movie: once when he's approaching Ana, and later after Ana left for José's photography exhibition. Is something going on between them or did?

Answer: Hannah is aware of Jack's reputation for being sexually aggressive, resulting in his previous assistants quitting their jobs. She correctly surmises that he is now targeting Ana as his next victim.

Question: Are there any plans to release a director's cut?

Answer: At the moment, no. Given the fact the series was rebooted, Sony seems to be putting its focus on the new films. Although given that an alternative cut of 2007's "Spider-Man 3" was recently released, it's possible a director's cut might appear in the future. But at the moment, there are no plans for one.

Answer: Nothing, we can see she's holding his body and mourning his death.

Question: Can vampires and werewolves be killed or injured by anything other than vampires and werewolves?

MikeH

Answer: Aro also makes the argument that for the first time in our history humans pose a threat to our kind with their weapons that can destroy us. Theoretically any weapons that can tear apart and/or burn the vampires would work. So, yes, things other than vampires and werewolves can kill the vampires and werewolves.

Answer: Sure. The problem is that these films portray vampires and werewolves as having super-human abilities, so it'd be significantly harder for a regular person to kill one. But nothing about the films seems to indicate it's overtly impossible.
