Spider-Man 2 (2004)

New this month Question: Why is Peter still bullied by people in school even though he is in college? I'm referring to the scene where people hit him with backpacks and call him names as well as the scene in "Spider-Man 3" where he is bullied in Dr. Connors' class.

Cody Fairless-Lee

New this month Answer: Other students see him as a nerd and a teacher's pet.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

New this month Question: Why would Flash Thompson of all people attend Harry's funeral? He bullied Peter and Harry in the first movie.

Cody Fairless-Lee

New this month Answer: It had been a few years since they were in high school. Perhaps Flash had matured since then and realised his behaviour towards them was wrong, so he came to pay his respects.

Casual Person

This is true to the comics. Eventually Flash matures and becomes close friends with both Peter and Harry.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

New this month Question: How did Venom know about The Sandman trying to save his daughter?

Cody Fairless-Lee

New this month Answer: Sandman is a fugitive who is on the run. It is more than likely that his name has appeared in the news at some point. His daughter and her illness would likely have also been mentioned as well. Seeing as how Eddie worked at the Daily Bugle, it shouldn't have took long for him to put two and two together.

Holes (2003)

New this month Question: How did the Yelnats get a lawyer, and how was Stanley found innocent?

Cody Fairless-Lee

New this month Answer: This is explained a bit more in the book. When Stanley and Zero made it to the top of God's Thumb, Stanley sang his families song to Zero. Zero was a descendant of Madame Zeroni, who had cursed the Yelnats family to bad luck when Elya, the Russian ancestor of Stanley, decided not to carry her up the mountain and sing the song to her, which would have rejuvenated her. By singing the song to Zero, Stanley had (by extension) sung to Zeroni, and removed the curse. Then, in the scene directly after, we see Stanley's father find a method of repairing shoes immediately, eliminating the requirements of harvesting a massive amount of resources when you could repair the shoe instantly. Stanley's dad marketed this technique and made a large amount of money quickly, enabling him to get a lawyer. The lawyer interviewed his classmates, who backed up Stanley's alibi, making him innocent.

Question: After young Willy sees his childhood home disappear, where did he live and grow up?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: We are never shown what happened to him but he may have gone to live with relatives or he was simply put into an orphanage.

Question: Why was Charles Wallace being sent to the office? For calling out on the two teachers or for causing Meg to hurt Veronica? Also, why aren't the two teachers in trouble for making fun of the Murry family?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: We are never told why Charles Wallace was sent to the office. Perhaps the principal wanted to hear his side of the story seeing as he saw what happened. He may have also told the principal what the teachers said as well.

Question: When Meg hugs her mom, why would Mrs. Murry ask her if it's a dream?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Maybe Meg hadn't hugged her mom in a really long time so the mom must be thinking that she is dreaming that Meg is hugging her.

The Majestic (2001)

Question: Why didn't Peter retaliate against Bob for punching him and letting the town know what a jerk he is?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Question: Why don't we see Calvin stand up to his abusive father and why does he abuse him?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Because the movie isn't about Calvin, but Meg and her family. Seeing Calvin stand up to his father would be going off on a tangent. As for the reason for the abuse, who can say? Some people are just jerks.

Brian Katcher

Question: Are Meg and Veronica friends at the end of the movie?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: No, but with Meg understanding Veronica's self-image issues and Veronica seeing that popular boy Calvin obviously thought highly of Meg, maybe they won't be so antagonistic to each other.

Brian Katcher

Question: When Meg returns with her father, did she still have to write apology letters to Principal Jenkins and Veronica?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: With Meg's father returning after four years, her mother probably had other things on her mind than Meg's punishment. But with all Meg had learned about kindness and love, she might have decided to write the letters anyway.

Family Guy (1999)

Show generally

Question: Why does the show on occasion mention that it never won an Emmy when it's thus far received 10 nominations and 3 wins?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: In the context, when talking about "Family Guy" winning an Emmy, it's about winning based on the merits of show itself, not just the work put into making the show. The Emmys "Family Guy" has won are for "outstanding voice over", "achievement in animation", or "sound mixing." Whereas, shows like "Modern Family" won Emmys for Outstanding..."comedy series", "lead actor", "supporting actor/actress", "writing", and "directing." There was a joke in the episode about what they were doing was so bad they owe back an Emmy, acknowledging they have won Emmys, just not the ones they're striving for.

Ferdinand (2017)

Question: Ferdinand had his name since birth when he is being raised at the bull camp. But he is later adopted by Nina and Juan who also name him Ferdinand. How do they know that his name is Ferdinand? He was not wearing any identification tags and he couldn't speak to the humans to tell them this.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: It's a very common Hispanic name, so probably just a coincidence that Nina and Juan happened to name him that.

It (2017)

Question: While we see Henry Bowers and his gang get their comeuppance by the end of the film, why couldn't the same thing happen to the girls who bully Beverly?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: There's no real reason. Sometimes people who do bad things get away with it.

Question: How is it that Meg and Charles' mother has not noticed that her children were gone?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Just like in the book, the children travelled in time as well as space. From the mother's perspective, they were only gone for a short while.

Question: I get that Meg is in trouble for hitting Veronica in the face with a basketball, but why isn't Veronica in trouble for leaving a mean note on Meg's locker and calling her brother crazy?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Could be a matter of severity. Hitting someone in the face with a basketball could result in someone being permanently injured or disfigured, possibly even blinded. Leaving mean notes and calling someone crazy is far less serious and might not warrant being punished other than a mild reprimand.

Peter Rabbit (2018)

Question: How is it that Thomas can understand what the rabbits are saying as shown in the make-up scene and no other human can?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: It's not clear if he actually can hear them or not. It's implied in the film that it's possibly stress or a mental break that is causing him to hallucinate their voices, or is suddenly thinking on a brain wave length that can understand them. If it's the former, it's coincidence that he hears similar to what Peter is actually saying. Either case explains why he suddenly can hear them when nobody else can around them despite them talking in front of people.
