Question: I've just rented the Director's Cut and I'm wondering what differs from the original. I've seen the original so many times I almost know it by heart and I couldn't find anything different in the DC.

Chosen answer: According to the IMDB, "This was supposed to be the director's cut with additional 20 seconds of footage. But due to company policy (which does not allow to release unrated DVDs), the same cut as on the 1997 DVD was put onto this DVD. The director's cut was available on laserdisc."

Question: Can somebody please explain to me everything that happened in Mulholland Drive? What is up with the bum behind the diner, the little people chasing Naomi Watts at the end, who is who, what is the key for? Ideally give a website reference which has a full answer, as a full answer will dominate this page.

Chosen answer: There is no one right answer. See http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,4120,634856,00.html for some theories from movie critics.

Answer: Naomi Watts killed her lover, Laura Harring, rather than lose her to someone else. She felt such guilt, she created an alternate reality using everything and everyone she knew, to create a happy and peaceful world. But the real world was sneaking in and the key was to unlock her blocked memories.

Question: What did Samara's dad mean when he said, "my wife wasn't meant to have a child"?

Chosen answer: She's infertile. She wasn't ever supposed to have children. It's hinted that she made a deal with evil forces to have Samara.

The One With The Girl From Poughkeepsie - S4-E10

Question: What does Chandler mean when he says "they're signing over their 401k's to me" and also when he asks Rachel "you graduated (something), right?"

Chosen answer: A 401K is a pension plan. Graduating 'magna cum laude' means you were at the top of your class.

Question: How did Jack lose the Pearl? I watched that part near a hundred times and still I can't quite catch what Gibbs is saying.

Chosen answer: Barbossa was his first mate and instigated a mutiny, after which they left Jack on his island.

Question: In the beginning of the scene with the dodos, there is one dodo who shouts "Prepare for the ice age." Does anyone know who he is or what other movies he's been in? His voice is so familiar that I'm sure he's done another cartoon character's voice, but I can't remember who it is.

Chosen answer: There are four people who do the voice for the dodos. They are Peter Ackerman, P.J. Benjamin, Josh Hamilton, and Chris Wedge (who also voiced Scrat and directed the movie). I checked their backgrounds, but I did not see any previous cartoons done by them. Also, of the four, it is possible you have seen Josh Hamilton or heard him before, because he has been in quite a few films, but I am not sure he is the one who voiced the dodo who said prepare for the ice age.

Five By Five - S1-E18

Question: What is that song playing as Faith starts the club brawl in '5 by 5'? I'm pretty sure its by the Murderdolls, but what's the song called?

Shay

Chosen answer: The 'Angel: The Casefiles' book only identifies one track in this episode - 'Living Dead Girl' by Rob Zombie.

Question: I really don't get the ending of the movie. Nothing actually changes, the Matrix still exists, making humans prisoners until they are used as batteries and Zion still exists. But wasn't the whole point of Zion and its inhabitants to free people so they aren't used as power cells? The machines are still using people as energy and no one is bothered by that? Doesn't that make all three movies kind of pointless?

troy fox

Chosen answer: The Architect says to the Oracle in the final scene that those who wish to be freed will be. He is, naturally, referring to those humans still inside the Matrix. It is reasonable to assume that the people of Zion will continue to contact those inside the Matrix, and now that the Architect has promised they will be freed without a struggle, there is no longer a reason for conflict between the machines and humans. Check out this link from a user review who explained it in very good detail. http://movies.yahoo.com/mvc/drv?mid=1808402448.

Question: What is the deal with Mac? Why isn't he in the Armed Services like a majority of the other men in England?

Tobin OReilly

Chosen answer: He could have flat feet or a bad back or many other problems which don't really inconvenience him but make him ineligible for service.

Question: Does anyone know what the small box Malfoy has in the Slytherin house scene (with Harry and Ron in disguise) is? Or whose it is?

Chosen answer: That small box is just a present that another Slytherin got but accidentally left around and now Malfoy is stealing it. I believe it is just another way to show off his nastiness.

Question: Scott Foley's character is called Roman. I wonder if this has anything to do with real life film-maker Roman Polanski, who's wife Sharon Tate was murdered by Charles Manson and his gang?

Chosen answer: Surprisingly it wasn't it wasn't until one of the stars (I think it was Courtney Cox) pointed that out did the director realize.

Question: When Wayne exits Jason's ranch by guiding his horse backwards (a display of fine horsemanship and/or animal training, by the way), you may notice that he is holding his right hand exactly the same way as he does later in the movie when he has the bullet-against-the-spine problem and is temporarily paralyzed toward the end of the movie. Perhaps he did have a problem with his hand at that time, and the script was altered accordingly?

Chosen answer: He is holding his gun hand ready. Just in case any of Jason's men get any ideas, hence the line "hey fancy vest". He was just being ready.

Question: Each time this movie is shown on in Brisbane Australia an important scene is not shown. The deletion is of the airplane landing at the airport and then trying to get air-borne again before the runway is destroyed. Why is this removed?

Chosen answer: There are two versions of the film. A 'film' version which does not include this scene (and others) and a 'TV Miniseries' version. The miniseries version was made to run over two nights and extra scenes were shot to extend the running time.

Question: What is the differences between 1st degree murder, second, and third degree murder?

Chosen answer: First degree murder is premeditated, second degree is a crime of passion (i.e. murder in the heat of the moment) and third degree is now called manslaughter - accidental killing.

Question: I was watching The Two Towers on DVD the other day and I am sure that I saw John Rhys Davies as one of the villagers that are helping to defend Helm's Deep. Is this true? It's not the spear-throwing Peter Jackson cameo - this character lifts a rock (or something) above his head and lets out a very John-like roar. Blink and you'll miss it.

Scrappy

Chosen answer: At what time? Peter Jackson's cameo (spear) is at 1:10:07 and producer Barry Osborne's (rock) is at 1:10:17. I couldn't spot another 'lift something over head and shout' shot.

Question: Does anyone know what historically happened to Red's parents?

Chosen answer: I have tried to look this up, and there is no record of Red's parents. Most likely they just died of old age.

Question: About the "Obvious Special Effects Blur" picture: why would there be special effects there? Is it because it was shot with a blue screen, and added the background later, or...?

Chosen answer: The top of the building was just a set, with the background filled in digitally to add perspective - true of most of the film. Still doesn't really explain why it's so blurred - never seen anything like that in any other films.

Question: What happened to the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar? They wander around Isla Sorna on this movie, but no mention is made of the dinosaurs in the original. Does anybody know about their fate? Were they killed? Did they die naturally?

Chosen answer: The dinosaurs on Isla Nublar are not mentioned. In the first book they are destroyed by bombing, which makes the second island more surprising - a lost world.
