Question: What relationship does Silva have with M? M claims he was a former agent, whilst Silva refers to M as "mother" or something along this lines.

Jaffacake

Chosen answer: He's an agent who worked for her when she was section chief in Hong Kong. They are not related - Silva refers to her as "mother" or "mummy" as a nod to the fact that recruited agents are frequently orphans and thus their superiors often take on something of a parental role - a noted theme in this particular movie.

Question: I have two questions about this film. Firstly, was the black woman Hushpuppy was dancing with at the strip bar her biological mum? And secondly, were the huge pigs (whatever they are called) that appear at the end really there. Or were they simply imagined by Hushpuppy? Because the other kids responded to them, but they seemed way too oversized to be real.

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: Both questions are left open-ended. It is unlikely, but not impossible, for Hushpuppy to have found her mother (although I believe the music playing at that moment is a hint that she is a look-alike). The beasts are supernatural creatures; up to you whether they are literal or in her mind.

Question: In the scene where Simon and his men overpower Felix Little of the Federal Reserve and continue to the elevator, what are the German lines being spoken by Simon Gruber? It sounds like "Danke well" when he pushes the drugged Mr. Little to the floor, and when he is in the elevator removing his tie his line sounds like "Ich biete". If someone knows the German words being spoken in these lines, your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Answer: Danke well means "Well, thank you." Ich biete means "I offer."

Answer: The first one is Dutch: "dank you wel" - "Thank you very much". The second one "ich bin fertig" is German and means "I'm done".

No, Dutch is "Dank je wel" or "Dank you wel" and he didn't say that. He says "Danke Well" which is supposed to be "Danke woll" With means thank you in German, as said. In the elevator he says "Ich bitte" which means "I ask", which is kinda weird, just like "Ich biete." Maybe he meant "bitte", as in "you're welcome." to one of the others.

Oh I see, the letter is corrected to "you" automatically. Funny. "Dank uw wel" then.

Question: Does anybody knows the song and where I can find it that plays near the end of the movie where the Dutchman's crew are coming to Jack and Elizabeth to make Will the new captain? I'm talking specifically about the song with people singing in it (so not purely instrumental), you can hear it loud and clear in the shot where one of the fishermen holds the open chest for the heart.

Answer: Found the answer on Youtube. It can be found on one of the unreleased soundtracks namely "Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew."

Question: After the scene in which the death eaters attack Harry and Ginny, everyone runs back to The Burrow which is being burnt down. My question is why does everyone look so sad? It's not like they're going to be homeless. They could have used the spell aguamenti to extinguish the flames, and any further damage could be fixed with the spell reparo. I've heard of fiendfyre in the Harry Potter series, but this just looked like normal fire to me.

Answer: According to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, you cannot create all things with magic, so some things would definitely be lost in a fire - magical or otherwise.

kristenlouise3

Answer: It should also be noted we have only seen reparo repair broken items. We've never seen it restore anything that is completely destroyed to nothing or to ashes. Given there are limitations to what magic can fix (like wands and brooms), it wouldn't surprise me if it can't bring something back that was destroyed to ashes or to nothing, especially given there are things that can incinerate very quickly even in a regular fire, such as pictures. As someone whose family went through a devastating house fire, losing pictures was one of the saddest things to lose, as you can't replace those no matter what and they are gone fast in a fire. Given we know magical limitations exist, it wouldn't surprise me if irreplaceable items in the Burrow were destroyed beyond reparo.

Question: In the end credits it lists the Batman theme in the music soundtrack. When exactly was the theme played in the movie?

Answer: It is used after Greg tells Rodrick that Heather has accepted loded diper.

Question: Is it a fair and accurate observation of the movie to say that the plot and Fantasia itself is about Bastian coming to terms with the death of his mother? Also, is it fair to say that the Childlike Empress/ Moonchild in Fantasia is Bastian's mother in reality?

Answer: I think both of those are fair assumptions. If you pay attention to the plot inside fantasia the story is of atreyu paying through difficult times and becoming a man, something a young boy may have to do in order to put the death of his mother in the past. Also he names the empress his mother's name, showing he sees her as somewhat of a mother figure to him even though she is a child herself.

Question: Verbal is presented as a person who has worked with Keaton presumably for some time to have earned his trust. But since Verbal is really Keyser Soze, this would mean that Soze had been "underground" as Verbal for quite awhile establishing his relationship with Keaton. Can we really expect that Soze would have been "playing the part of Verbal" for the length of time, presumably years, he would need to in order to establish a bond of trust with Keaton? And what could have been Soze's original motivation? It couldn't have been that he foresaw this particular situation that he was going to need a criminal of Keaton's caliber to help pull off. The relationship with Keaton would have had to have begun long before Keyser Soze would have known that he needed Keaton to assist in pulling off this particular job. So why establish the relationship with Keaton in the first place?

Answer: Soze, as is established in the movie, tends to work anonymously or through intermediaries, with the result that, generally speaking, those working for him are unaware of their actual employer. But Soze still needs to keep informed about players and events in the criminal fraternity, so it makes reasonable sense that he would have a number of fake identities that he could use to keep tabs on things directly when necessary. Soze has, as is stated in the movie, encountered Keaton previously in his "Verbal" persona, although Keaton specifically states that they've met "once or twice before", which suggests that they haven't actually worked together. It's not necessary for Soze to have spent years underground masquerading as Kint for this to be the case, just that he use the persona on those occasions when he was in the right area. During those occasions, he encountered Keaton, probably to evaluate him for use in a future operation after Keaton interfered with his earlier smuggling operation.

Tailkinker

Answer: They are not presented as crime partners! Verbal only says they met a number of times in prison as the way Keaton knew Kint.

Answer: They were briefly in lockup together months earlier where Kint got a "6 month suspended sentence" as divulged early in the film. Kint does leverage this brief relationship to secure Keaton's spot on the team. But why go to such lengths to secure him? Because he felt the storming of the ship was a 5 man job, and he knew Keaton had several murders along with a storied past in his history that made him a reliable and strong team member.

Question: In the scene when they kill Bret, Jules gives his Bible quote and they both shoot Bret down, then the screen goes red and scene ends. I see this whenever its on Cable and on my DVD, yet I have seen a clip on the internet when a guy runs out from the bathroom and shoots at Jules and Vincent, completely missing them, and they kill him too. Is this some deleted scene? Was this extra scene shown in theaters? And why was it removed?

Carl Missouri

Chosen answer: That scene IS in the movie. It's just a few scenes later. The film's structure is out of order.

Brad

Answer: That scene is actually shown twice in the movie. The first time, toward the beginning of the movie, the scene ends after the shooting. Then later in the movie, they show the scene again, only this time with the guy running out of the bathroom and shooting them.

Ray

Chosen answer: It is based on the song 'Ave Santani', the song used in the movie "The Omen" (the lyrics of which are in Latin) The lyrics to their chant are "Hetus. Alte omnibus. Virtu e poquebus. Rectus. Hoc honebus." Which is Latin, Spanish and gibberish. "Omnibus" is Spanish for "bus", while "poquebus" and "honebus" are both Latin-sounding nonsense words. It loosely translates to "Glad. Other bus. [Poquebus] of courage. Correct. This [honebus]".

I entered "Hetus. Alte omnibus. Virtu e poquebus. Rectus. Hoc honebus" into Google translate and it came back as "heathen High to all. Power from few. Right. This honor".

Matters of State - S2-E7

Question: Does anyone know the name and composer of the piece of music being played when Henry and Anne are dancing (interspersed with their passionate sex scene)? It sounds like Henry asks for A Valta but I'm not sure. (00:19:55 - 00:22:05)

Answer: Henry asks for a volta which was a type of dance as well as the general type of music played for it. It would be like requesting a waltz or tango.

Question: What kind of clothing is that being worn by the character Lock-Nah, the "enforcer" of Imhotep's cult and (apparently) Ardeth Bay's nemesis? He's obviously supposed to be African, but is that a specific type of garb or did they just make up an African-themed wardrobe for the movie? And does anybody know: A) What kind of sword it is that he always carries and fights with? B) What is that big dagger(?) he throws at Ardeth in the O'Conells' mansion? C) At the Oasis of Ahm Shere, what language is Lock-Nah speaking when he shouts for the soldiers to "Fan out! Eyes open! Guns up!" when thunder starts rumbling?

Answer: A) It seems to be some kind of Shamshir or Talwar. B) It is a kind of African throwing knife, there are different names as they tend to be very different in shape.

Question: In the opening to the movie, when the Army of Anubis first appears, you see a man fall headless and Anubis himself (or at least what appears to be the Army's leader) steps on the body, sweeps his weapon over it, and howls into the air. What is that weapon? Is it real or invented for the movie? The same character wields the same weapon later when the Army faces the Magi, and Imhotep wields the same weapon against Rick O'Connell's dual axes in their fight before the Scorpion King shows up. Any idea? I gotta know what that weapon is. (00:03:50 - 01:45:55)

Answer: It's an Egyptian Fan Axe. As far as I know, they did exist.

Answer: It's called a 'khopesh'.

Grumpy Scot

Answer: "Mah koreh, mah mah koreh": Hebrew for "What is happening?"

Chosen answer: There are no words. It's just strange alien music.

Chosen answer: Because though he is really bad at it, SpongeBob has been giving it everything he has for years to get a license. Patrick can barely walk and remember to breathe at the same time, and gets his on the first try.

Grumpy Scot

Question: In the scene in which Morpheus offers Neo the blue or red pill, what is the music that starts playing as Morpheus takes the pills out of his metal container and continues after they get up?

Answer: There was a bootleg version of the complete Don Davis score for the film going around - chronologically I would say this piece of music was part of the track titled "Down the Rabbit Hole."

Home Invasion - S1-E2

Question: If I remember correctly, the Harmons moved to LA 6 months after Ben's affair. He mentions treating Tate for several weeks. How is it that Hayden is just now finding out she's pregnant? Also, that she is early enough into the pregnancy to have an abortion?

Answer: He flew back a few times to be with her as mentioned in their fight.

Question: At the beginning of the movie, as Doc, Marty and Jennifer are leaving in the time machine to go to 2015, Biff sees the DeLorean fly and then disappear. It perplexes him greatly and he even states, "What the hell is going on here?" 1) Why wouldn't Doc have been more careful when he knew that anyone could've walked out of the McFly house and seen the DeLorean? 2) Why didn't it alter things in the future? Sure, Biff may not have told anyone about what he saw, but it's unlikely since he witnessed such a strange event.

Zinka17

Chosen answer: There's no real explanation about why Doc wasn't more careful, but he is an eccentric person who often acts on impulse rather than logic. It also serves the movie's plot for Biff to be there when he was. Biff in 2015 is an old man, and he is obviously somewhat confused about what he saw. He may well have thought it better to say nothing about it for fear he wouldn't be believed and could be accused of hallucinating the event.

Question: If Candy King returns Ralph's medal, then he would have effectively "refunded" Vanellope's entry into the semi-finals, meaning that Ralph would not have needed to wreck Vanellope's cart. If so, what is Ralph's motive for destroying the car?

Jaffacake

Chosen answer: He wrecked her car because the Candy King wanted Ralph to stop helping her, and tries to convince Ralph that that if the 'glitch' Vanellope races everyone will think the game is malfunctioning. Therefore, the game console is removed, the candy citizens are gameless, and since Venellope can't leave she will be lost forever. Even though all this was a lie by the Candy King, Ralph cared too much about her to take that chance. In addition, if everyone knew how Candy King got the medal back, they would have known about his true motives!

Rydersriot87

Chosen answer: With the rest of the group she would be moving faster then she would if she were alone.
