These are questions relating to specific titles. General questions for movies and TV shows are here. Members get e-mailed when any of their questions are answered.

Chosen answer: There are severals ways to go about this. They could film the scene without the vampire in place so there's no reflection of him/her in the mirror, then film the scene with the vampire, and finally digitally splice the two together. Or, for quick passes, they could just digitally remove the reflection and replace it with the background. Camera tricks can also be used by putting the camera at a certain angle in relation to the mirror so it only looks like the person's reflection would be visible if they weren't a vampire. Depends on how much time and money they've got available.

Question: Is it ever mentioned in one of the other movies or in any of the books about why SPECTRE members have the number they do? Is it based on rank, or is it just a codename? (So would Largo be the highest ranked under Blofeld?).

Answer: In the novels, the numbers of members were initially assigned at random and then rotated by two digits every month to prevent detection. For example, if one was Number 1 this month, he would be Number 3 next month. At the time of Thunderball, the leader, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, has been assigned "Number 2", while Emilio Largo is assigned "Number 1". In the films the number indicates rank: Blofeld is always referred to as "Number 1" and Emilio Largo, in Thunderball, is "Number 2".

Chosen answer: Actors sometimes choose not to be credited, particularly in cases where they're playing a role much smaller than one would normally expect them to be playing.

Question: Does anyone know if Carrie and Doug had a baby on the show? And also was it just me, or was Carrie pregnant in real life in one season, and they did not write it into the show, or did she just gain a lot of weight?

Answer: To answer the question directly. Carrie and Doug do not have a biological child during the show's main run. In season 3 or 4 finale (cant remember which) Carrie has a miscarriage. Later on in the show they find out Carrie has 1 working ovary. Thus reducing the chance of them conceiving. By the final season, they couple agree to adopt from China and go to collect their child in the show's final episode. While on the flight back from China it's revealed that Carrie is once again pregnant. However the last scene of the show is a flash forward showing that Carrie goes full term with that child and they are struggling with both kids.

Ssiscool

Answer: Leah Remini was not pregnant in real life at the time of the series finale in 2007. Her daughter was born in summer 2004 and it was obvious she gained weight and wore larger clothes during that season. So no, her real pregnancy was not written into the show.

Answer: They did have a baby in the series finale. They actually adopted a baby from China, and then at the same time they found out she was pregnant. She was pregnant in real life, but they just covered her up, as much as they could, during the filming of the show.

Question: Is the dog in glasses a reference to Mr. Peabody, or just a coincidence? I thought if it was, the commentary would mention it, but there was no mention of the gag at all.

Answer: There's no indication that the dog had anything to do with Mr Peabody (especially since the dog didn't speak or do anything other than sit there). It was just a front for a throwaway joke.

GrafSpee

It's a coincidence because Mr. Peabody and Sherman was not released until 2014 and Meet the Robinsons came out in 2007.

But that film is based on the Peabody's Improbable History segment from the 50s/60s TV show The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends.

Question: In the scene where they show the caddy's 1st-3rd place trophy, the 2nd place has socks behind the trophy 3rd place has tee's. What is behind the first place trophy?

Answer: It's a single boxed golf ball.

Question: In Sweeney Todd (the musical with the actor Johnny Depp), there's a bit in the pie shop when Sweeney Todd and Miss Lovett go into the attic. In the attic there's a cot in the corner. In the cot there is a weird skeletal baby thing. What/who is it? It doesn't explain.

Answer: It's a doll that Johanna used to have when she was little. It's her baby bed, and Mrs. Lovett has simply not had the heart to throw it out.

Question: Why does Daniel get annoyed with Miyagi after he says Daniel was lucky he didn't hurt his hand falling off his bike?

Answer: Daniel's wounds came from fighting the Cobra Kai guys but he tells Miyagi that he was injured falling off of his bike. Miyagi sees through this and sarcastically says that he's lucky his hand wasn't hurt.

Damian Torres

I think he was also subtle letting him know he knew he didn't really fall off his bike because if he had, he would have at the very least scraped his hands...especially if he fell hard enough to cause that much damage to his face.

He was still trying to hide it. However, if you fall, you instinctively put out your hands, and they would be scraped up. Miyagi, older and experienced in life, knew better, but Daniel wasn't going to admit it outright.

Question: I'm about halfway through season 2 on DVD. Without spoiling anything for me, do the gypsies who ensouled Angel ever appear in the flashbacks, or are they only mentioned in passing?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Pretty much in passing although you see descendants of the gypsy clan in season two of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you read the first Spike comics with Dracula there's mention of the gypsy clan.

Maria Santos

Answer: It is shown in a flashback.

Question: What happens to each of the women at the end of the movies? Each movie has a completely different love interest, we're left to believe that they have bonded and are in love and set for a happy ending, but by the next movie, that woman is gone with no explanation and he's chasing after someone new.

Answer: Bruce Wayne is notorious for not being able to maintain a relationship for long. The relationships likely fall apart for various reasons, some relating to him being Batman.

Question: What was the point of the piece of robot that stuck to the back of the security car? It never served any major purpose in the movie.

Jack Kaltenbach

Chosen answer: It was just to show that, being composed of a polymimetic alloy (liquid metal), all pieces could be recombined into the whole terminator.

Question: When Kate Winslet first gets home, she turns on the gas on one of the stove burners (but doesn't light it). As Cameron Diaz starts talking with her via the Internet, two of the burners are on, and she gets up and turns one of them off. If I'm not wrong, the other remains on and because of the fireplace would end up setting her house on fire. Or it might just be that the other burner was already on and burning to heat something. Could anyone please give a more certain answer about that?

Answer: Iris only turns on one burner without lighting it. When the Internet tone for getting a message sounds, Iris comes to her senses, turns off the unlit burner, opens the window and then answers Amanda's message.

Question: What did the trooper mean when he said, "Didn't you know this ain't Saturday"? It always makes me wonder.

Answer: The trooper on the motorcycle had just landed in the water. In older days, the typical day to take a bath, wash hair, etc. was Saturday. The trooper in the car (once he saw the motorcycle trooper was okay and wet) just made a joke about him taking a bath.

Zwn Annwn

Answer: I think the trooper makes this joke in reference to Evel Knievel, a popular performer of the day. His shows, which prominently featured motorcycle stunts (particularly jumping) usually occurred on the weekends (i.e. Saturday).

Question: If Lanning really had leaped from that distance, wouldn't he be unrecognizable upon impact and not with only a little bit of blood coming from his mouth?

Answer: He'd certainly have a lot of internal injuries that aren't visible, would probably have more injuries showing than that trickle of blood, but wouldn't necessarily be "unrecognizable."

Question: Is Chef Skinner named for B. F. Skinner, the noted psychologist who did experiments with rats?

Answer: According to the IMDb: yes, he was.

Twotall

Chosen answer: "A mollusk walks up to a sea cucumber and... [Most of the joke itself is missing here, as we only get to hear the beginning and end of it] ...so the sea cucumber turns to the mollusk and says 'With fronds like these, who need anemones?'" It's a pun on the term "with friends like these, who needs enemies", only with words more suited for an aquatic environment.

Question: According to the IMDB, Peter Tork has an uncredited cameo in this film. Does anyone know where in the movie his cameo is?

Answer: He's in the wizard-looking costume as the suits walk into the studio sound stage.

Answer: He's reportedly in the background during the scene where Kirshner, Harris and Van are discussing the Monkees' Hawaii concert tour.

Jean G

Question: In the movie trailer, Roddy lived with two another animals (hamsters), but they are not in the movie. Why?

Answer: Probably time issues.

Disney-Freak

Question: During the mutant attack on the house Will Smith enters an upstairs room and we see what appears to be part of an arm dripping blood. What is this or who owns it? It doesn't appear to be the mutant who attacks straight afterward as he appears uninjured and free of any blood.

Answer: It's not an arm, it a part of the metal plate covering the window.
