Question: Near the ending, when Stacker removes his helmet to speak to Mako, he leaves Chuck solo. Why is the neural link or drift thing not harming Chuck since he's briefly solo?

Roman Curiel

Chosen answer: The Jaeger isn't doing anything strenuous at this time, it's just standing still.

Question: Why wasn't Patrick arrested for killing the child molester?

MikeH

Chosen answer: Even though he executes an unarmed man, it is doubtful given the circumstances that he would be investigated with much fervor for his actions. One police officer has just been shot and killed so Patrick's actions could easily be described as self-defense in the eyes of an investigator. Anyone making a claim to the contrary would risk having to stand up for a child murdering cop killer.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: Many/most people think child molesters are evil, disgusting, utterly loathsome, and irredeemable - they don't deserve to live - so a dead child molester is one less child molester. Even worse, Corwin Earle was also a child killer (although he claimed "it was an accident"). Many people, including police, would believe he deserved to die and Patrick did the right thing. Others, of course, would assert that "street justice" is not justice at all, but there would be little, if any, evidence that Patrick's shooting was not a justifiable homicide. IF Patrick were charged, his attorney would raise a defense that would most likely result in a "not guilty" verdict. Besides, this was a movie, and the audience needs to feel that justice has been served.

KeyZOid

Question: When the Rebels are evacuating from Hoth, Luke says goodbye to Han. Then we don't see him until he's running to his Snowspeeder. In that time, Vader has found out that Ozzel has messed up and promoted Piett, General Rieekan sends the transports out and one gets past. What was Luke doing in all that time?

Declan Murphy

Chosen answer: It's unknown what Luke was doing because nothing is shown. Any answer is speculation. Also, you are viewing the scene as a linear timeline, with events happening one after the other. In movies, the action often jumps back-and-forth and is unfolding simultaneously. The on-screen timeline can be more compressed than it appears.

raywest

Answer: The intel they gathered on Church made them believe he would have killed them all upon completion of their mission.

Phaneron

Question: Why doesn't Dom's Rx7 sound like a rotary engine car?

Answer: Movie makers often use the wrong engine sounds for cars, for example, the purple Eclipse in 2F2F sounded like a boxer engine.

Question: Am I correct that when Henry Fonda is questioning the E.G. Marshall character about his recent activities Marshall says that the night before he worked until 8:30 then went home? The trial was every day for the past several days.

Answer: He was actually talking about the night before the last one. Trials, especially longer ones for serious crimes such as murder, are not usually on consecutive days...often there is a recess after the prosecution rests, and another after the defense, before closing arguments and the jury's deliberation. During those recesses, unless they are sequestered, the jury members would return to their normal lives (including work), and report back to the court when summoned.

Chosen answer: Why wouldn't Storm believe Jean is gone? She saw her (Jean) crushed by a giant wave and consumed by a giant lake. She has no reason to think that Jean will "come back, " and she tries to move on after her best friend's death, as you or anyone else would.

Question: When Bond realises he has been poisoned at the poker game, he mixes salt with water and drinks it. What was this supposed to do? Does salt mixed with water rid the body of hazardous chemicals or something?

Dra9onBorn117

Chosen answer: He did it to simply make himself vomit, which is what he does into the sink. Inducing vomiting is meant to rid the stomach of the poison that hasn't been absorbed (although this idea is debatable, Bond thought it was wise). However, he was still in danger because he already absorbed enough of the poison, which is why he goes to the car and injects the antidote (the injection he gives himself in the neck).

Bishop73

Answer: Thiopentone Sodium, Sodium Nitrite, and Sodium Thiosulfate are the most common chemicals used to treat cyanide poisoning. Cyanide might've been Bond's first thought, and he was ingesting large quantities of sodium to try to stave off the effects.

Captain Defenestrator

Question: Coruscant is basically destroyed in Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon show. Why didn't they show the destruction from the droid invasion after crashing Grievous' Invisible Hand into the planet?

Answer: The Clone Wars show aired 3 years after the film came out. They had not planned on there having been a droid invasion.

Question: Hypothetically speaking, if Amidala did sign the treaty, how would that affect later events eventually leading up to the establishment of the Galactic Empire?

Answer: In the long run, nothing would have changed. A war would still break out between the Republic and CIS, leading to Palpatine gaining power and subsequently becoming Emperor. The specifics may change, but the long-term outcome would not. It would, however, cause Amidala to not meet Anakin, and subsequently he would not become Darth Vader in an attempt to save her.

Question: #1 Wouldn't the space suits used on Mars have a heating device built into them, being it's so cold on Mars? Why did he have to rely on the RTG for heat in the rover? #2 Just before lifting off from Mars we see Watney cutting his hair and beard. He appears to be in another Hab, but when he's approaching the MAV in the rover, there's no Hab in site.

Answer: 1) The suits are heated, however this uses power (something he is rationing) and requires him to wear the suit at all times. He often removes it whilst in the rover. This is elaborated upon in the book. 2) He is shaving in the base of the MAV, in the area containing the ascent spacesuit.

Question: When Logan returns to the mansion, how come Rogue got so excited? she couldn't have known it was him, and also, did she not think that it might upset Bobby that she was really excited to see another man?

THE GAMER NEXT DOOR

Chosen answer: She has a bit of a crush on Logan, and when she heard the motorcycle (which Logan had "borrowed") she assumed it was him. She's a teenager, so she probably wasn't thinking about Bobby's feelings.

Question: Darth Vader hears from Palpatine that he killed his wife. How would Palpatine know? He didn't arrive on Mustafar until after Obi-wan left and took Padme to the medical facility. Also, if Palpatine found out how Padme died, how does he not know (yet) about Luke and Leia? She died after giving birth to them.

Answer: You're missing the point: Palpatine lied. He knew Vader would be more pliable if he believed he'd caused her death.

Question: Got a few questions. First Question. When the emperor is killed in ROTJ, doesn't that mark the end of the Galactic Empire? If so, wouldn't the establishment of the New Republic mean that The First Order is at this point just an extremist group trying to throw a coup? Second Question: Whether or not the first question is a yes or a no, wouldn't the New Republic have knowledge of Starkiller Base being constructed? Third Question: Is there any influence as to why Kylo Ren basically gets temper tantrums? An example being when Rey escaped or when he found out the droid escaped Jakku Last Question: Kylo Ren stopped a strong laser bolt and has to ability to freeze people. How was he so easily beaten by Rey with no jedi training?

Answer: Yes to the first. Not necessarily to the second, as they undoubtedly worked very hard to keep it secret. For the third question, the dark side of the force feeds on and enhances anger, rage, hatred. Ren is full of these emotions. As for the last question, remember that Ren took a shot to the guts from Chewbacca's bowcaster, a weapon that blows everyone it hits back several meters, killing them instantly. Ren took a knee for a moment then got right back up. He is using the bulk of his concentration on using his Force powers to survive and heal that wound and manage the pain. That's why he keeps beating his abdomen with his fist during his fight with Rey. Rey is also abnormally strong with the Force. These two factors combined to make their first fight evenly matched.

Phixius

Question: Why is everyone cheering when Palpatine reorganizes the Republic to an empire? You'd think they'd be doing the opposite like Padme and Organa.

Answer: Because they believe the Empire will be stronger and safer. They're making the historically dangerous choice of security over freedom.

Question: As someone else pointed out, Obi-wan states that Anakin wanted Luke to have his lightsaber when Luke was old enough. But Anakin violated the Jedi Order's rules by marrying and having children, so he (before he became Darth Vader) couldn't have expected Luke to join the Order himself someday and become a Jedi. Surely the Council would not have accepted Luke?

Answer: Anakin had no idea Luke existed until the Emperor told him in Empire Strikes Back; Obi-Wan was not being truthful about the lightsaber.

Also, Obi-Wan took Anakin's lightsaber after their duel on Mustafar, Anakin never said anything about giving it to his son.

Answer: The Jedi are discouraged from marrying and having relationships, but not from procreating. Based on council's views, Luke would actually be an ideal Jedi subject; He comes from a lineage strong in the force, but has no ties to his parents.

Not exactly. Jedi are allowed to have casual sex occasionally, but they are not supposed to deliberately reproduce. Most of them would become attached to their children and the partners who they conceive with. Also, what would pregnant female Jedi do at the Temple? They would need to rest and take special health/safety precautions during pregnancy, so they couldn't participate in many missions and battles. And they would need to give up their newborn babies.

Question: What is the deal with everyone saying "beep beep" to Ritchie every time he tells a joke?

lartaker1975

Chosen answer: It's their way of telling Richie to be quiet. To get him to stop talking.

Answer: In the book it is explained that they are telling Richie to shut up.

Question: Why were the names of Paul Vario and Jimmy Burke changed for the movie to Paul Cicero and Jimmy Conway when no other names were changed? It's not as if someone's identity was being protected. I never understood that.

Answer: Not sure why they changed Paul's, but Jimmy's was changed to Conway because his sister refused to allow it, Conway being his mother's maiden name.

Answer: Tommy's name was changed as well. In the movie it is Tommy DeVito, in real life it was Tommy DeSimone.

ctown28

Question: When Tarzan and Jane first meet and they're sitting on a tree branch looking at each other - it looks like Jane's feet are going in the wrong direction (anatomically impossible direction). Did anyone notice this?

Answer: Her feet are oriented correctly the entire time.

Answer: Those are his feet, she's on his lap. You don't see her feet.

Show generally

Question: The Impulse engine on the back of the Dorsal section is lit during orbits, which is normal. However, should that engine not be lit, like the ones on the back of the saucer, when it is in Warp?

Movie Nut

Chosen answer: There's no reason for the impulse engines to be active when the ship is at warp speed. Within the show, warp is an entirely different method of propulsion (i.e. Warping space around the ship) and doesn't require thrust, which is what the impulse engines provide.
