Mr. Monk's 100th Case - S7-E7

Question: I haven't yet seen this episode, but why is it called 'Mr. Monk and his 100th case'? Natalie and Julie gave Monk a hundred trophies at one time for doing 100 cases. Doesn't that break continuity, then if THIS is his 100th case?

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: It's his 100th case for the San Francisco Police Department. When Natalie and Julie gave him the trophies, they were for cases overall. The total was actually a few short, but they gave him 100 because it's a nice, even number, which Monk likes.

Orpheus - S4-E15

Question: It may be that Fred told her, but how does Willow know about Connor? In season one, Angel made it clear to Buffy that they lead separate lives now, and he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would call Willow just to tell her he has a son.

Cubs Fan Premium member

Chosen answer: Willow has always been the contact link between the two groups. Fred's call to Willow takes place in Buffy's world in the episode "Lies My Parents Told Me." Since Fred has the number and Willow knows who she is right away, she probably told her about Connor some time ago.

Question: What is it with the Jug that breaks down walls? It's red with a face on. I don't get this joke.

A Demon Premium member

Chosen answer: It's the Kool-Aid Man from Kool-Aid's commercials from the 70s and 80s. Kids would be hot and thirsty and call "Hey, Kool-Aid!" and he'd burst through a wall and say "Oh, yeah!"

Question: Why does Maroni know where the Joker will be "this afternoon"? He tells Gordon in the hospital as Gordon visits Dent. And why comes the Chechen visit the Joker in the warehouse? From who does HE know where the Joker is? Did the Joker tell them where he keeps the money? And if he did so: why did he tell them where it was if he just wants to burn it?

Chosen answer: He knows because the Joker invited him. The Chechen, as well. The Joker invites them over there to tell them that he's taking over, exactly as we see him do with the Chechen. The burning of the money is to make the point that he doesn't care about the same things that they obsess over.

Question: Did Harvey Dent die? I've heard theories that he did die, but I've heard that he didn't die but they told everyone that he did because they didn't want people to know that he became a villain. I was just wondering which one is true.

Chosen answer: According to Aaron Eckhart, he has been told specifically by director Christopher Nolan that Harvey was killed in the fall, so he would not be back in any potential follow-up film.

Question: Why would NASA spend weight and expenses on making the cabin of the armadillo pressurised?

Jacob La Cour

Chosen answer: The cabin of the armadillo was always going to be pressurized. A person really can't perform the work needed in a space suit. Therefore, they presurize the cabin.

Question: Where and when were "We were made in Pairs"?

Chosen answer: That was never answered in the movie, though she did say they were at least 3,000 years old.

Question: In the scene where Batman shows Lucius his giant sonar thing, why is he talking in his big scary voice? Lucius knows who he is, so why does he bother disguising his voice?

Chosen answer: It's habit, and a sensible one at that. When he's in the mask, when he's being Batman, he uses the voice, even if the person he's with knows who he is. If he drops back to his normal voice with some people, it sets the precedent for using it while wearing the cowl, which means that he's more likely to slip up and use it around people who don't know, potentially revealing his true identity. If he sticks rigidly to using the voice when kitted up as Batman, regardless of situation, it minimises that possibility.

Question: When Dooku and Obi-wan are fighting, Dooku says that Yoda holds Obi-wan in such high esteem. But how would he know that if he left the Jedi Order years ago and probably hasn't been talking to Yoda for a while?

Chosen answer: Though not stated in the films, Dooku had been a member of the Jedi Order until sometime after Qui-Gon Jin's death. But probably also after Obi-Wan was given the title of Jedi Knight and Anakin his Padawan by Yoda. So Dooku could very well have known Yoda's feelings of esteem, even if it was years ago.

Question: What is the chant / song that is sung by Sophie, Ali and Lisa about 3 mins in to the film?

xx:xx:xx

Chosen answer: It goes: "We're Sophie, Ali, Lisa, we're the greatest, bestest mates. I'm tough! I'm tall! I'm tiny! And we're gonna rock this place!"

littlestar

Question: I am wanting to know what tune, song or piece of music is playing when Sophie is walking down the aisle? I am assuming it is an ABBA song, is that correct? Thanks for any help you can give.

Chosen answer: This is a version of the ABBA-song "Knowing me, knowing you".

Question: Why would the armadillos be equipped with machine guns?

Jacob La Cour

Chosen answer: For the exact purpose you see them used for: terrain clearing.

Question: After Dooku leaves the fight with Yoda on Geonosis and Padmé arrives, are Obi-wan and Yoda not suspicious about her running to Anakin and hugging and kissing him? Yoda is actually looking in their direction.

Chosen answer: Considering everything that just happened and that Padme has known Anakin since he was a small boy, they probably would not think that much of it other than she is very emotional and is showing concern and relief for an old friend and protector after a particularly stressful situation.

Question: When the asteroid starts breaking up, collisions of rocks make large fiery explosions. What is exploding when rock meets rock - and where does the oxygen for the explosions come from?

Jacob La Cour

Chosen answer: There could be various combustible gases, including oxygen trapped in pockets within the asteroid. When rock meets rock a spark is created that ignites the suddenly released gases.

Question: Was Mulder's beard supposed to have some sort of meaning/symbolism? I know it wasn't a big theme in the movie anyway, but I didn't understand why it was even put into the story at all.

Chosen answer: It shows how Mulder's character has changed since he left the FBI. Previously he was eager, rather obsessive/compulsive, and always well groomed. He's a far different man now--isolated, adrift, and far less concerned with day-to-day matters. This is reflected in his current appearance.

Question: Quite at the end of the movie, as Gordon and his men are on top of the building opposite the Prewitt building, Batman talks to him and tells him to wait a few minutes. Then Gordon says that he won't wait because the people on the ferries will blow each other up. But why does he know? The Joker just told the people on the ferries. Batman knew as well because he could hear everything going on on the ferries, but he didn't tell Gordon. So from who does he learn this?

Chosen answer: Someone with a cell phone on one of the ferries might have been able to call out, or The Joker could have broadcast his message on the Police Band as well. Likely the latter, since he likes an audience. Then again no reason Batman couldn't have informed Gordon offscreen.

Question: I have a question about the car chase scene. How is it possible that a van of this size is able to catch up to a Viper? As far as I know that car can reach 60mph in less than four seconds.

Chosen answer: Yes, but when you're driving through streets crowded with people and other vehicles you can't just stand on the gas pedal or you'd wreck the car. The van can catch up because the Viper can't drive at its top speed.

Scared Very Straight - S4-E20

Question: David was fired by the station manager Howard for his continued meth problem and mishaps on the radio, yet Howard was originally the person who gave David the meth and even did it with him sometimes. When David was fired, he just got ticked off and told Howard that the radio station sucked and walked out. Question - of all people, couldn't Howard have at the least been fired as well? And why would David let that opportunity slide?

Chosen answer: I think it's a case of "he said/he said". Howard is the station manager, so his word would hold more weight than David's. If Howard was accused of being David's meth source, Howard could deny it; the school would be much more likely to believe him than David.

Question: Why and how did all that stuff end up in his apartment? Did the computer send it? If so, how and why? How was the FBI coming to his apartment "motivating" him?

Chosen answer: ARIA sent the stuff to his apartment so the FBI would catch it and go after him. His motivation was that only ARIA could "save" him from the FBI, who was investigating him for terrorism.
