Question: In the scene where Iris walks into Amanda's room with the entertainment center, she picks up a DVD with a heart on the back before she is interrupted by the front gate ringing. What is the DVD?

Answer: To me it looked like Punch Drunk Love, starring Adam Sandler.

Question: When Jake and Freddy are running to apologize to Janey, when they are at the prom, why is there a girl at the bottom of the steps?

logan crews

Chosen answer: This is a prom. So most likely she is laying at the bottom of the stairs from having snuck to much of the bottle.

Question: Did any of the actors know what the monster looked like while they were filming the movie?

Brad

Chosen answer: The actors and crew were kept in the dark as much as possible, unless the information was needed for their performance. They didn't know what the parasites looked like until they began filming the subway scene. Actual-size, realistic puppets had been made for filming but were decided to look too artificial and slow on camera, but it gave the actors a chance to see what they would be running from, how their jaws and legs worked, etc. As for the main monster ("Clover"), actors would only know what was in the script and what the director told them.

Question: During the scene when the Titanic's engines are reversed as soon as the iceberg is in sight, the stokers close all the dampers to the boilers just before the engines are reversed, why is this?

Answer: Not closing the dampers would make the boilers still burn and keep the Titanic going forward. The shock of cold water hitting the burning coals could also cause explosions.

Question: After Tony turned Prince and the trolls into gold, what happened to his ability to turn things into gold? Could it only be used once?

Answer: Yes, you only get to use it once, I think it mentions it on the plaque on the front of the tank "the first thing you touch will be gold" or something like that. If not it says it in the book so maybe that's where I got it from.

Question: How come Joanie became a werewolf before Ellie and Jimmy? I thought she got bitten before them.

Brad

Chosen answer: Joanine made a crack saying "I guess there is no real way to have safe sex with a werewolf. Joanine dated Jake before Ellie, hence how she became a werewolf before Ellie and Jimmy. In fact it was Joanie who made Ellie and Jimmy werewolves because she stated she was killing the other girls Jake was interested in.

Question: After a fellow soldier throws his boots, Robbie walks ahead to retrieve them and discovers a large group of murdered children in, I presume, school or church uniforms. Is this moment based on a real historical event of WWII?

johnrosa

Chosen answer: Not as such. The only systematic massacre of civilians in the Dunkirk campaign was in the Flemish village of Vingkt, where the German 377th Infantry Regiment had fought a fierce battle against the Belgian Chasseurs Ardennais. On 27/28 May 1940, the Germans took revenge on the civilian population and shot some 40 men and boys in the village, including eight elderly men who had sheltered in a convent's cellars. They argued that anyone found in a building the Chasseurs had used was liable for execution. The film exaggerates for dramatic effect - dead schoolboys are more poignant than dead old men - but there is a core of truth in the story.

Question: What was the significance of Rex's cameraman being in on the assassination plot?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: It's not stated in the film, but if I had to make an educated guess I'd say his job is to make sure the news channel doesn't get any footage of any of the terrorist agents or the window the shots come from.

Question: What is the relationship between Andie and Tyler Gage? I first thought that Andie was the other foster kid from the first film, but shes not. Are they brother and sister? Thanks.

Answer: Andie was a neighbor of Tyler's growing up. He mentions that he remembers when she was running around in diapers.

The kid is Camille who Moose marries in number 5. Cam is also in number 3.

Question: What was the club they went to in the middle of the movie? Not the strip club, it was a dance club. The entry was a long hallway with red lights inside, then it opened up to the big dance area. Does anyone know? Thx.

Answer: That was filmed at Cherry at the Red Rock Casino Resort.

Chosen answer: It means you need to avoid getting caught in the crossfire. Originally, terms like "tying your shoe" or "pulling your socks up" meant ducking to avoid flying bullets. In a more generic sense though, it needn't be about gun violence per se. Just that you don't want to be on the receiving end of violence meant for someone else. In the movie, this was a way of telling Edward that if he could not defuse the situation, then others would be forced to harm the professor. Here, they weren't actually going to put Edward in harm's way. But if he failed to change the professor, then violence against the professor was forthcoming.

Question: If so many famous, high-ranking people were involved, and many of the records of the heist are classified, how did the complete story become known? It would seem no one should have known about the photographs and such.

Answer: The complete story isn't known. There was a bank robbery, and after a few days of press coverage there was a gag order put in place to keep the press from talking about it. No one knows for certain why other than the people who were involved. This film is speculation, a possible reason for why there was a gag order. The producers of the film claim to have been working with an inside source who knew the truth for the gag order and cover-up. Whether the producers really did have an inside source, or that the source was telling the truth, will likely never be known for certain.

Question: Alexander shoots the moose with a rather rapid fire action: it sounds as if the rifle is semi-automatic. What was the true story, and why did Alexander specifically ask for a a cal .22 rifle? Was it because he planned to hunt small game, and knew that a heavier rifle/calibre would be unsuitable? To plan for moose hunting, he would choose something like cal.308.

Answer: Having read Krakauers book: The rifle was a .22 Remington scoped semiautomatic. Accounts at the time mention that this may not have been the best choice, and it is clear that McCandless did not have enough experience to live in the wild, although it is impressing enough that he managed to survive for 16 weeks.

Question: At the beginning of the mehndi party we can see a servant frying something - supposedly some sweets -, by pouring liquid batter into boiling oil though a bowl with a hole in the bottom. What is the name of the sweets he prepares?

Answer: The sweet he prepares is called 'jalebi' and it is exactly as you say, batter fried in boiling oil. It is poured through the bowl with a hole at the bottom to get its distinctive swirly pattern. Once cooked the batter is dipped in sugar syrup to make it sweet.

Question: Is the skin-peeling that Goldmember does a reference to something or is it just a running gag?

Answer: Emerge by Fischerspooner off their CD "1".

Answer: The director and prodcucer of the show Greg Daniels was previously a writer for The Simpsons for which he won an Emmy. Its also the american counterpart for the monkey in the original UK version.

Question: At the beginning of the movie Nicole Kidman walks up to a house and places a "For Rent" sign in the yard, then a lady comes out of the house as if she is the Realtor, who even gets the "For Rent" sign. Why would she "witch up" a Realtor and not just move directly into the house? She could possibly be the owner of the home under a spell thinking she was selling, but its all too complicated. Why not just move into the empty house without all the for rent/furnished & no reference sign. I know its a movie and I could be over thinking this scene but it strikes me as kind of odd.
