Question: As Peggy Sue and her friends walk down the school hall, she glances up and sees a Mylar balloon. While it is intended to remind her of the reunion, I wondered if Mylar balloons were available in 1960?

scwilliam

Chosen answer: It was meant to be an anachronism. When she is talking to Richard later in the film, Peggy Sue says "I am a walking anachronism", meaning she is in the wrong time for what she knows. The balloon is a physical anachronism, being something she brought back to the past with her from the reunion.

Question: Is Miss Hannigan Annie's actual mother? I know she says that her real parents were killed in a fire but there seems to be overwhelming evidence that this is a lie. Any thoughts, references, that might clear this up?

synthetikrose

Chosen answer: No, Miss Hannigan is simply a cruel, manipulative orphanage matron. Annie's parents did indeed die in a fire.

Question: In the brief scene where Hannibal is having a fancy meal served to him in his cell as a reward for helping Will, what classical piano music is playing in the background? This is just before we see Will and his co-workers watching a home video of the Jacobis.

Chosen answer: I think it's part of Bach's Goldberg Variations. Incidentally, it is part of this piece that is playing when he kills the 2 guards in his cage in The Silence of the Lambs. He is also seen playing part of it himself in Hannibal.

David Mercier

Question: What's the name of the song that the inmates at the asylum are dancing to?

Chosen answer: "(Not Just) Knee Deep" by George Clinton And The Funkadelics.

Question: What is the name of the song playing during the main credits?

tylerasktaylorsteckleralexdenny

Chosen answer: "I'm Into Something Good." It's the second song listed in the music credits, and if you don't read all the credits you miss a good part of the gags in the movie.

Question: When Indy chases after the Ark, which is on the German convoy, where did he get that beautiful white horse from? There is no evidence of horses being kept anywhere in the camp.

Chosen answer: The earlier scenes of the excavation site show several horses being ridden or used for hauling.

Question: Does anyone know why Mini Me doesn't, can't, or won't speak?

Chosen answer: Mini Me does speak at one point in both films (that I know of). He says "You and I" when Dr Evil and he are singing Just The Two Of Us. Rather than a baby's voice, this is very low-pitched and I think it cuts to Frau looking surprised. There's no real reason for Mini Me not speaking other than it creates excellent gag opportunities such as the "Do You Want To?" scene in the car.

Question: Is there any specific reason for Jason Statham's cameo at the start of the film as the man who gives Tom Cruise the briefcase?

Chosen answer: There doesn't seem to be any reason as for Statham's cameo, however one theory comes to mind. A number of years before Statham started starring in Hollywood films, he made his break in the hit low budget "Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels". Apparently Tom Cruise was one of the major Hollywood people who loved the film and was keen to do an American remake of the film. Possibly he wanted to try and work with him and the cameo was a perfect opportunity. Playing a "Transporter" of sorts would seem an apt role.

Question: Was Roman just playing dead in the coffin or was it a dummy? Hard to believe that he could be pretending because Gale checks his pulse.

Chosen answer: No it was Roman. There is a technique you can do where if you apply pressure on the correct artery you can stop the pulse. EXTREMELY dangerous though.

Question: How was the rain scene accomplished?

Chosen answer: It was added at the edit. During the animation, the animators just made little sprinkles on the characters so it would look like the rain actually hit them.

Question: This is a two-parter: 1) Why was the guy killing all of the kids, and 2) How exactly did he do it?

Chosen answer: Because he was an evil mastermind. He implanted lethal microchips in the tags of Silver Shamrock masks so when the commercial aired on T.V. on Halloween night, it would take a deadly effect on the kids wearing the masks while watching the commercial.

Question: When Aladdin is thrown into the water by the guards and the Genie turns into a sub to save him, the sub-Genie speaks something in what sounds like German. What does he say?

Chosen answer: Nothing. He was babbling it. Even the closed captions say " (babbling the German language)," which means he wasn't saying anything real in German; he was just mimicking it and speaking gibberish.

Question: Does anyone know the calls of a bosun's whistle? Does it mean "get on it" or are there certain tunes for certain calls, etc.

Chosen answer: The boatswain's calls are to tell the crew what time it is, or what to do. So, there are different calls for different things. Two good pages to check out are http://www.btinternet.com/~fourthgill.seascouts/bosuncall.htm and http://home.usaa.net/~crowmax/bosun.htm

Question: Don Cheadle wasn't given credit in the film, any reason why?

Answer: Don Cheadle is uncredited despite having a major role. This is due to a dispute over his billing. Cheadle wanted above the title billing alongside George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Brad Pitt. When he was refused, he refused to be credited at all. Cheadle received above the title billing in Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007).

Chosen answer: He didn't want a credit for his part, he would prefer it was uncredited. As far as I know he has not given a reason.

Question: When Denzel and Ethan go to visit the Spanish gangsters towards the end and Denzel gives the presents, Is the money inside the blender for them to kill Ethan's character or simply he owed some money? If then the money wasn't for them to kill him what reason did they have to kill him?

Question: Is Mirage a super? If so, what is her power? She tells Mr. Incredible that, like him, she doesn't officially "exist" and her name sounds like a superhero name.

Chosen answer: No, she isn't a super. She just works with Syndrome as his assistant.

Question: When the fat lady painting lets Harry and the others in after "breaking" the glass, she says something quite quietly to herself, possibly foregin. I can't make it out - does anyone know what she says? The subtitles don't say...

Hamster Premium member

Chosen answer: She calls them plebs - dates back to Roman times, relating to common people.
