Question: After Mary is raped, she begins cleaning herself off in the water in front of Alasdair who immediately figures out what happened and of course wants to tell Rob, so he'll avenge her. But she's extremely adamant that Alasdair not tell Rob about it. But if she REALLY didn't want Rob to know, wouldn't she have waited until she was alone to clean herself up? I'm always confused by this, because when she tells Alasdair to keep quiet, she never seems to be hinting that she doesn't really mean what she says. On the contrary, she's very passionate about it.
Chosen answer: She wants to clean herself thoroughly ASAP, so as to avoid pregnancy (though that way doesn't work anyway); if she waited until she was alone, it would've been too late to even try.
Question: In the extended version out later this year,will we see The Houses of Healing, The Mouth Of Sauron, Sam wearing the Ring at Cirith Ungol and Faramir and Eowyn falling in love? After reading the book, I really hope I eventually see this added to the film.
Answer: We will see: The Witch King taking Gandalf's staff. Saruman dying at Orthanc. Merry swearing allegiance to Theoden. Gamling dying on the Pelennor Fields. House of Healing, with Aragorn, Merry, Eowyn and Faramir. Frodo and Sam marching with Orcs, while wearing the armour. Mouth of Sauron deceiving Aragorn with the Mithril shirt.
Question: Does anyone have even a ballpark clue on what year this movie took place? I'm thinking mid to late 1700s.
Answer: They didn't deliberately aim at any particular year, but, according to Jerry Bruckheimer, they aimed at the time period between 1720 and 1750 (although he also says that they didn't worry too much about precise historical accuracy due to it being a fantasy). If you want to narrow it a bit further - at Norrington's promotion ceremony they're playing "Rule Britannia", which was composed in 1740. Bearing these two points in mind, you could fairly say that the film occurs at some point in the 1740's.
Question: What is the story behind the cop who seems to enjoy chasing Anderton? He talks to Fletch in the Hotel (the Spyder scene) about Fletch not trusting him alone with Anderton, because he might (according to my subtitles) 'futz' him. He also seems to take some delight when they arrest Anderton at the cottage near the end. I never understood this.
Answer: He's the one who Anderton rode around on during the jetpack chase and who was eventually knocked out by Anderton. As such, he understandably feels somewhat aggrieved towards his old boss.
Question: In the sequence when the beacons are being lit across Middle Earth, who is living at the top of the high snowy mountains to light those beacons and pass on the message?
Answer: Firstly, the beacons are only across the border between Rohan and Gondor, not across all of Middle-earth. Secondly, the few people living near each beacon are only there because that is their job, just like sentries along any other border.
Question: What ever happens to the female doctor that evaluates Newt? She evaluates Newt, says one line or so, then disappears forever.
Chosen answer: Down in the tunnels, she is the soldier that says "Maybe they don't show up on infrared at all." and is then grabbed and hoisted to the ceiling by an Alien, discharging her flamethrower and killing the other Marine. Later, Hudson says "The Sarge and Deitrich (the female medic) aren't dead. Their signs are real low but they ain't dead." So she was cocooned and played host for new aliens.
Question: I feel like an idiot for encouraging the way the entire plot of this movie is laid out in the questions page, but, how do the pirates know exactly what they need to do to lift the curse? Does Aztec gold come with an instructions manual or something?
Answer: The Aztec chest has inscriptions on all of its sides. After Barbossa and the rest realized that there indeed was a curse, they went back to Isla de Muerta and learned how the curse can be undone, by deciphering the inscriptions. This is when William Bootstrap Turner decided that they all deserved to be cursed and remain cursed and then sent one piece of the gold to Will, his son, living in England.
Question: Is there a reason why they are not (yet) called "Storm" troopers?
Chosen answer: The Empire renamed the soldiers when it started accepting cadets into the Imperial Navy. Since they were not all clones, the name had to be changed.
Question: At the end of this episode "in loving memory of Glenn Quinn" is displayed - he played Doyle in early episodes of Angel, and died at the end of 2002. However, this was actually the second episode broadcast after his death - does anyone know why the credit was shown in this episode and not the one before?
Question: Does anyone know the significance of the Romans clubbing the feet of the two thieves crucifed at Golgotha? And why they did not do this to Jesus? I know there's an explanation for this somewhere in the gospels but I can't find it.
Chosen answer: When someone is crucified, they die from suffocation because when the arms are stretched out that far wide and you can't move your legs it is close to impossible to breathe. The platform that their feet were nailed to would serve, for a while, a way to boost your body up enough to be able to take small breaths in and out. Eventually when they were tired of waiting for you to die they would break your legs so you couldn't boost yourself up enough to breathe well and you would asphyxiate quicker. When the storm came after Jesus died, they broke the legs of the 2 thieves, but did not break Jesus's legs. The prophecy stated that the Messiah would die with no broken bones.
Question: Does anyone know what happened to Dr Weaver's leg, or is it a mystery?
Answer: You find out in later seasons that it is a congenital hip defect.
Question: How can Roy possibly be a smoker? He has OCD and is constantly cleaning the smallest of messes. The ashtray in his car was overflowing with butts.
Chosen answer: OCD isn't about cleanliness, it's about obsession and compulsion (hence the name). Cleaning could be a compulsion in this case, though smoking could be as well (and probably is, with the amount of butts in the ashtray). If that's the case then the cleaning probably wouldn't apply to the ashtray, since all he'd be doing is smoking and cleaning it, which would limit his actions even further. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the basics.

Question: Estelle tells Joey about the new part she got him an audition for and says "It's kind of on the Q. T. The actor who has the part doesn't know he might be fired." What does she mean exactly by "on the q.t."?
Answer: "On the Q.T. is slang for quietly. Q.T. is an abbreviation for quiet. The phrase dates to at least 1884." Found on wordorigins.org.
Question: I know all the characters were taken from Victorian novels (e.g.. Mina Harker from Dracula) but which novel did Allan Quatermain come from? (sorry if I spelled it wrong)
Answer: Allan Quatermain appeared in 14 books by H. Ryder Haggard, starting with 'King Solomon's Mines' in 1885, and ending with 'Allan and the Ice Gods', published in 1927 (two years after the author died). Question: Why didn't Finland's hockey team medal in the 1980 games if they played the U.S. for the gold?
Chosen answer: It appears that the medal round was just a continuation of the round robin tournament. When the US deafeated Finland, it cliched the best record in the tournament. The Soviet Union had the second best record, and Sweden the third best.

Question: I have seen Three Stooges gags throughout the series. My questions is who is the big Three Stooges fan?
Answer: I would say Homer. He was watching them in the episode when he stayed home from church when everyone else went to church. Episode where he meets God.
Question: When Michael has his flashbacks at the end, shots include a woman being attacked at a payphone and someone being held down on a bed and stabbed. Did I miss these scenes in the movie?
Chosen answer: First, if you are referring to the big, bald guy who is the host of the personalities, his name is Malcolm. Second, the murders you are referring to are the real murders he committed which he is on trial for.

Answer: Who's to say it couldn't? Just because we didn't see it do it doesn't mean it couldn't. In the Two Towers, the eye of Sauron was focusing on events that were days away by horse. At that distance, it didn't need to swivel to see what it wanted to see. As its target drew nearer, however, it became more important to look around and get as much of the picture as possible.
