Question: In the movie, the team of snatchers were able to smell Hermione's perfume through the protective spells that she put up. This may seem silly, but why did she have perfume on? It seems quite careless on her part and there was absolutely no reason for her to have it on for their mission, so why the perfume?

Answer: They aren't exactly staying in 4-star hotels and showering every day. Camping is dirty, and with that comes certain odors. And that can get unpleasant in close quarters. It's likely the perfume was her way of countering that. In that instance, sure, her perfume may have been a tip off, but it's not unreasonable to assume that that doesn't come up all that much.

Garlonuss

Answer: Hermione may have wanted to smell as fresh as possible while living in such cramped quarters with Harry and Ron, but the only reason she is shown wearing perfume is because it is a plot device. It shows how the protective charms around the camp work and that they are not completely full-proof as loud sounds, smells, etc. can penetrate them. It was also to build suspense by having Hermione face-to-face with a snatcher who can smell her presence but not see her. One bad move on her part, and the Trio could have been exposed.

Chosen answer: She says "Daddy loves the horses...but he doesn't know" meaning she knows what's about to happen to all his horses. (Because she makes them commit suicide).

Chosen answer: In general, no. However, in the episode "Behind the Laughter," Lisa comments about how Homer fed her anti-growth hormones to prolong the run of the show. Chronological events do occur, such as birthdays (which all of the characters have had in various episodes), and several episodes include flashbacks and peeks into the future. However, for the most part, the characters remain in a chronological stasis.

Ling Bouvier is one character who has aged.

Dan23

Yes, I've noticed that, too. Also, Apu's nephew has aged quite a bit.

Chosen answer: Somewhere after "The Wedding of River Song," but before "Silence in the Library" and "The Name of the Doctor."

Captain Defenestrator

More precisely, shortly before "The Husbands of River Song."

Question: After old Biff returns to 2015 he appears in pain. I've seen several submissions on this site saying it's because Lorraine shot him in 1995. My question is where do they get that information from? I've seen these movies numerous times and have never seen anything to suggest that.

Answer: If you have the DVD or Blu-ray, watch the deleted scene with Biff vanishing and be sure to have the commentary on. Bob Gale confirms that Lorraine discovered that Biff had killed George and therefore shot and killed Biff in retaliation.

Answer: But in 2015 George is fine. He brings pizza with Lorrain, when they come and visit. Biff doesn't shoot George until the alternate timeline he creates when he goes back to 1955 with the sports almanac? In 2015, he is still the loser George made him in the first movie.

That's before Biff steals the Delorean to deliver the Sports Almanac to his younger self. Biff altered time when he did that resulting in the alternate 1985 where George is dead. George was also fine in 1985 before this.

Question: Why was Doc sent back to 1885 with the lightning if he was not going at 88 mph?

Answer: According to producer Bob Gale, the lightning that struck the Delorean caused it to spin up to 88 miles per hour. If you have the DVD or Blu-ray, watch all of the deleted scenes with the commentary on.

Chosen answer: The chick and the duck died of old age sometime between season 6 and 7. We find out in season 10 the Friends told Joey they had been sent to a farm where nobody could visit, to save his feelings.

kristenlouise3

This always confused me as in S1 when Ross found out that his childhood dog died after believing that it was genuinely sent to live on a farm, Joey was one of the people looking at Ross during that realization.

Question: It is told that J remembers the events of the regular time line because he was involved in the past. Being there as a young boy that is when his father was killed. So why does O not remember the original time line? She was there too, as K's lover.

Quantom X

Chosen answer: O was not at Cape Kennedy for the launch, that was the focal point of the change in the timeline, so only people there would remember the original course of events.

Question: Has it ever been known where the magical key came from and what other magic it might possess?

Answer: In the books, yes. The key was a copy made for a theft, but because it was made by a psychic who practiced her craft by pouring molten lead and "reading" the shape it took upon cooling, the key was imbued with magical power. Specifically, it could be used in any "lever lock" style lock and it possessed the power to facilitate time travel derived from the psychic's ability to see the future. The cupboard itself also had the power to bring plastic things to life because the psychic's nephew, with his own latent psychic abilities, built it to contain his hatred of all things plastic (he was an out-of-business toy manufacturer who made lead soldiers around the time plastic toys became popular). He cast his hatred into the cupboard and locked it with his aunt's magic key. So now, that cupboard when used in conjunction with that key, will imbue a plastic avatar with the consciousness of a human being from some other point in time. When the key is used to lock a person inside any other sufficiently-sized container, that person's consciousness will be sent into a suitable avatar, also at another point in time.

Question: Would the FBI have let the French banker go after they found out the bank the Horsemen robbed was actually fake? He hasn't even done anything wrong. (00:36:10)

Chosen answer: They would, yes.

Phixius

Answer: Yes.

Question: What made Dylan want to frame Thaddeus? (01:41:05 - 01:48:30)

Chosen answer: Dylan's father was a magician whose career was ruined by Thaddeus exposing the secrets to his tricks. In a desperate effort to pull his career back together, Dylan's father attempted a trick that resulted in his death. Dylan lost his father, and among those he blamed was Thaddeus.

Question: Is Fei-Long in this movie? He is the only character from the game I have not been able to ID in the movie. And if so, where is he? He's my favorite character from the game and I was disappointed to not see him.

Quantom X

Chosen answer: Fei Long was originally intended to be in the film, but was replaced by the character Captain Sawada.

LorgSkyegon

Chosen answer: According to information on Wikipedia about FD3, the character's middle and last name is a nod to film director and producer, Robert Wise.

Chosen answer: The term "Ghostrider" refers to the squadron name. There used to be a Tomcat squadron called the Ghostriders. Usually in a radio call, the squadron name is followed by a number. For instance, in the first fight where we see Cougar get into a spot of trouble with the Mig on his tail, he radios "This is Ghostrider 117 this bogey's all over me, he's got missile lock on me, do I have permission to fire?" That is normally the correct term as to who is on the radio.

Chosen answer: Its continuity follows with the first film (K's still being in the MiB is fleetingly addressed), but because it aired before the second and third films were produced, it is stand alone in relation to them.

Question: Who puts the 3 horns sticking out of the statue of Mary in the church? And what is it supposed to resemble?

dan coakley..

Chosen answer: Regan did (as the demon). It was just meant to be a desecration.

Answer: The desecration in the church added grotesque, pointed breasts and a pointed penis to a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, smeared with red paint to resemble blood. Lieutenant William Kinde later realised that these grisly appendages were made of sculpting clay and paint of the same type that Regan used in her artwork.

Charles Austin Miller

Question: After escaping South Korea, Gerry calls his wife. But the call is interrupted with a sudden huge explosion nearby, cutting off the signal. Is this explosion supposed to signify the base they were just at or something, or just a random explosion in the world below?

Answer: The explosion is supposed to be somewhere else as the plane is already underway when he calls. Also, the explosion is not that random as it's a nuclear blast (from accidental explosion or maybe an attack), meaning most likely not the base, as there were no nuclear weapons there, nor any reason to attack it.

Question: The woman that writes "run" on Teddy's note pad, was Ben Kingsly trusting this "crazy woman" not to tell Teddy or even let it slip that the whole thing was set up for him? Same question goes for every other crazy person in the institute that Teddy speaks to.

dan coakley..

Answer: Teddy belonged in Ward C. He would have never met any of the patients.

Chosen answer: The other patients were not let in on the arrangements. They would have had no reason to suspect that anything at all had been set up for Teddy. As far as they're concerned, if they're cognizant enough to be concerned at all, Teddy's just another crazy guy acting as crazy as all the rest of them.

Phixius

Answer: I think Mrs Kearns is in on it. We see her get a little flustered when she is asked about the doctor, who we find out later is sitting right there. Also, she gets uncomfortable when Teddy brings up Andrew Laeddis. She even tries to warn Teddy. I just discovered this recently when watching with the subtitles, but when Teddy comes back from the cave, Mrs Kearns can be heard saying "I can't remember what I'm supposed to remember", likely referring to the script she was supposed to stick to.

Question: Schindler first meets Geoth during a breakfast meeting, afterwards they discuss Schindler's request for his own workers. Helen is serving brandy and picking up glasses. Goeth calls Helen 'Lena'. Is this an error or more Goeth's way of mistreating her, ie.: 'I can call you what ever I want'?

Answer: Lena is a nickname for Helena, or Elena, or simply Helen. It's not necessarily derogatory, but does imply Goeth doesn't care if she prefers Helen or Lena.

Question: What is the title of the song Ellie Carlyle dedicates to Maj. Winchester, calling him "a swell guy - with a head to match"? Winchester's reaction implies the song is some kind of joke in its own right.

Doc

Chosen answer: The song is the accordion rendition of "Lady of Spain" by Robert Hargreaves and Stanley J. Damerell. It's Ellie's retort to Winchester's earlier quip in the mess tent, where he said "That's quite a retort from our lady of Spain"
