Question: Why does Big Boy tell Tess he loves her after he ties her to the gear? (01:30:30)

Phaneron

Answer: He was babbling like an idiot, he was trying to justify his actions not only to Tess but himself. The "I love you so much I have to kill you" defense.

Question: When Frank is writing Jane a letter from prison, we see a flashback of his former fiancé running up to a tiny house only for Frank to open the door and knock her off the cliff. Is this a spoof of any particular movie?

Phaneron

Answer: It's a parody of those Romance Novel advertisement commercials. The young beauty searching for her true love. FYI, that particular scene was originally part of the trailer only. It was never part of the film, but fans protested after an early preview of the movie. They demanded it in the film and it was put in.

Question: When Helga tells Luke about the Grand High Witch, Luke asks if she ever saw her. Helga responds that nobody has. Later in the film, Helga recognizes the Grand High Witch. How would Helga know what the Grand High Witch looks like if she never met her?

Answer: 1. Helga had met her before, she just didn't know at the time she had met the Grand High Witch. 2. Eva was not the Grand High Witch yet when Helga met her.

Question: A question about this movie and the book also: When Daisy first visits Gatsby's house, why is Gatsby insistent on making Klipspringer play the piano?

Answer: He wants to impress Daisy by showing authority and control.

Question: Why did the young Michael withdraw just before meeting Hanna in the prison? Was it because it was too painful for him to meet his love face-to-face when she was in such a pathetic situation? OR, was it because he didn't want to let her know that he could discover her secret (as his original intention to meet was to seek her permission to expose it in court), which could break her much more than the trial, as that's what she has been hiding for many many years?

Answer: Ambiguous but, a possibility of a two reasons. 1. He was in law school and associating himself with a known Nazi war criminal could be destructive to his career path. 2. Hanna's shame for her illiteracy was both overwhelming and governed the choices she made throughout her life. Under no circumstance would she divulge this secret. This was a psychological conflict for Michael in the question: Should he betray her and divulge this secret without her conscent or respect her choice to preserve it. Visiting her in prison to urge her to admit her secret meant that he would have to reveal that he knew her secret. At the last minute, he decided not to do this. Hanna ultimately chose life imprisonment for testifying that she wrote a repost that she did not write rather than admit her illiteracy.

Question: Is this true that Jenny McCarthy almost got the main role in this movie but was fired after it was discovered that she couldn't dance?

Question: Amy Finch (played by Julie Bowen) was killed by Andy his first night as a werewolf in the cemetery. After he was cured of the werewolf curse, what happened to her undead form? Would she remain in limbo forever or would her soul be freed?

Answer: Even though it's never seen, she most likely would be free since Andy was able to free himself from his lycanthropy. However, this is just speculation.

Question: Chavez calls Billy "Chivato". What does this mean?

Answer: Chivato in northern Mexico chihuahua area a Chivato is a male kid goat but also can be used as a young person full of energy, also an endearing term for a young boy. Lincoln Country is 2.5 hours from El paso TX and Chihuahua Juarez to be exact where many a cowboy spent their pay so the term would have the same meaning in Lincoln Ruidoso, Capitán where I grew up.

Answer: According to Lou Dimond Phillips himself in a tweet in response to the word, he said "'Chivato.' I'm told it means little kid, as in goats and as in Billy the Kid."

Bishop73

Answer: Chavez means Chivato as a young man not a traitor as some speculate.

Answer: He probably did but we just didn't get to see it like we did in Terminator 2.

lionhead

Answer: According to Jake Garber (Ron Perlman's personal makeup artist on Hellboy), he was allowed four hours to apply the makeup each day during production; but Garber said he gave Perlman an hour or so break right in the middle of makeup application, so the actual time in the chair was only about two-and-a-half hours. That was just for his head, neck, chest and hands every day. There were actually very few shoots that required full torso prosthetics and makeup, and the full torso with arms required about five hours, with several more makeup artists assisting.

Charles Austin Miller

Question: How was there a thunderstorm and rain inside the ship while traveling through space?

Answer: That wasn't a "thunderstorm and rain" inside the Nostromo. It was condensation dripping down from the ship's ventilation/cooling system. When searching for the cat, Brett (played by Harry Dean Stanton) removes his cap and stands beneath a cooling shaft, allowing the condensation to splatter like rain on his head and face.

Question: Why would Heywood start chanting "fresh fish"? Betting on who will break down is pretty bad, but I understand they probably have nothing better to do. But what was the point of starting the chant? He seems to feel bad when Fatass is beaten to death, but what was he expecting to happen?

MikeH

Answer: They were betting on who would break first out of the new inmates and the chant was meant to incite an emotional outburst from them. Most times, someone will just cry or break down. Heywood wasn't expecting Fatass to completely lose it and felt guilty because of his actions. This is one the first indicators in the film that some of the long term inmates like Heywood still have their humanity.

BaconIsMyBFF

Question: Dalton Russel hides behind a fake wall in the supplies room. This would make the room smaller and items on shelves wouldn't fit the same way anymore. How wouldn't any of the staff notice this change in room size?

Answer: The hiding space was narrow and the change was unnoticeable to staff. Also, this is a large office supplies room that few people access, spend little time in, or take much notice. Therefore, its unlikely the altered space would be immediately detected. Everything was carefully planned, so the fake wall and the arrangement of the boxes and other supplies would have been considered. I have to add that it's a bit of a plot hole considering the tall, heavy metal shelving on the three sides that are loaded with supplies would take considerable time and labor to move and rearrange to accommodate building the wall and in the relatively short amount of time the robbers are in the bank. Realistically, perhaps it could be done, but probably not that quickly by one or two people.

Phaneron

Question: At the end of the movie, Johnny Rico praises Zim who caught Brain Bug by saying "Good job, Sergeant." Then Zim answers "Thank you, sir. That would be private, sir." What does he mean? Sergeant is a higher rank than private, right?

Bunch Son

Answer: While Zim was a sergeant, he had to be demoted to private in order to fight on the front line.

Bishop73

Question: How did the FBI agent know that the two FBI agents on the plane were killed earlier?

Answer: It's been a while since I've watched this movie, but he obviously knows the plane is hijacked. It's a pretty safe assumption that the agents are dead as they're escorting a dangerous, high profile prisoner. Pretty easy to connect the dots. Alternatively, they could've failed to check in, and he assumed the worst.

Question: If Barbara had a dog named Muffy then how come she didn't speak about it the whole film? Didn't she even think about wanting her dog back if she decides to stay with the kidnappers?

Trainman

Answer: So she's more concerned about her own life than the life of the dog. Or since she believes that her husband "worships the ground I walk on," she probably takes for granted that her husband will take care of the dog. Or she does talk about it but it's not important to the plot.
