Question: In which House was Moaning Myrtle? It's not stated in either the book or the movie, but she does have a crest on her cloak, can anybody identify it?
Answer: Her robe only had the Hogwarts crest on it, but J.K. Rowling has said on her website that she was a Ravenclaw.
Question: When Gandalf is telling Bilbo about the Istari, he first discusses Saruman the White and Radagast the Brown. Then he mentions the other two wizards, the _____, and says he can't remember their names. What is the word Gandalf uses to describe these two wizards? I've seen the movie twice now but can't catch it. It sounds like he says they're "bruisers", but that doesn't seem like a word anyone in Middle Earth would use.
Chosen answer: He says "the two Blues". Jackson did not have the rights to the Unfinished Tales where the wizards are named (Alatar and Pallando) so he could not mention them in the film.
Question: I live in the UK and I was watching this movie when it was broadcasted on T.V. When Harry is trying to fix Mary's toilet I could have sworn I saw Harry literally rip the toilet off the floor and tip the contents out the window and yet I have never seen this on the video or DVD. Could I just have been imagining it or does it have something to do with the American version?
Answer: This is a scene that was cut from the theatrical release of the film, but is present in the extended cut and some international DVD versions.
Question: When Ellie and Muldoon are going out to turn the power on, Muldoon sees that the raptors have escaped and says something to the effect of, "even Nedry knew better than to mess with the raptor pen." As a computer person, how would Nedry know much about dinos and as the electric wiring was obviously broken around the raptor cage Nedry must have turned off the raptor fences as well?
Answer: Nedry did not turn off the raptor fences, as anyone in the park would know how dangerous the raptors were. Nedry was no scientist, but was not a fool and knew how to target particular fences via programming. If you remember, Muldoon had the raptor fences checked when the all of the other paddock fences went offline. It was only after the entire system was rebooted to bring the power back online that the raptor fence was tripped, promptly causing the intelligent raptors to break out. Muldoon mentioned Nedry to show that not even he was foolish enough to mess with the raptor fences.
Question: I have two questions about this film. Firstly who was the guy who tries to drown Rose after the Titanic sinks? I couldn't see his face properly and wondered if anyone knew who it was. Secondly, given how possessive Cal was of Rose, why didn't it seem to bother him when Jack leads her arm in arm into the dining room. It's almost like he just doesn't care in that scene.
Chosen answer: The guy who nearly drowned Rose was just a random panicked passenger who needed something to hold on to, like a life ring. As for dinner, at this time, it was actually customary in higher society for a man to escort someone other than his own wife or fiance to the table at a dinner party, and always arm-in-arm. Husbands and wives (and fiances) were also not seated next to each other at the dining table, primarily to mix up the group dynamics and stimulate conversation. Being as Jack is the invited guest for having saved Rose, it would be acceptable that he should have the honor of escorting her into the dining room. At this point, Cal would hardly consider Jack a serious threat to his relationship with Rose, and would have no reason to object.
Question: Is it really possible to destroy an iron pipe with a single rock?
Answer: Sewer and drainage pipes from the 19th century until only about 40 years ago were cast iron. It is a thick but fairly brittle metal, especially if it was older and beginning to deteriorate. It is theoretically possible to rupture the pipe with a rock, although probably not as easy as it appeared. Note I said "theoretically."
Answer: Well when Andy strikes the pipe, it sounds like metal.
The Name of the Doctor - S7-E15
Question: What were some the the old episodes Clara was seen helping the doctor in?
Chosen answer: We see clips from The Invasion of Time, The Five Doctors, Arc of Infinity and DragonFire.
Question: The data for Genesis are transmitted to Kruge, however, later, he has one of his men murder David Marcus (Admiral Kirk's son) and demands Genesis from Kirk. He had already downloaded the data, so what additional information did Kruge want? (00:09:30)
Chosen answer: Kruge only had the proposal video that talked about what Genesis was. He didn't have any actual data on how Genesis works or how it could be created. Having footage of a nuclear blast doesn't give you knowledge about how to build a nuclear device.
Question: If Marty and his brother and sister are fading from the photograph because they are being erased from existence, wouldn't that mean that the moment when the photograph was taken would also be erased from existence? If so, why doesn't the photograph itself disappear instead of just the people in it?
Chosen answer: The photo itself didn't disappear while the people were fading because the people in the photo were still in the picture. First, Marty's brother was erased, followed by Marty's sister, followed by Marty himself. Since, Marty's brother was erased, his sister and himself would have remained in the photo until they were erased. So really, the photo wouldn't have disappeared until all the people had been erased, since no-one would have been in the picture.
Completely agree with this answer. However, as far as the photo itself is concerned, I don't think it would have disappeared, strictly because of what we have seen in the series. Two examples I can think of: the picture of the gravestone, and the fax that Marty got saying he was fired (both instances in BTTF3). When time was altered, the things on them disappeared (the gravestone, and the "you're fired!" printing), but neither the photograph nor the fax paper itself disappeared.
Question: After Preston kills DuPont, there is no blood or wound on his neck. Only moments later, he goes to destroy the Father broadcasting room, and suddenly there is a cut on his neck with blood on his collar. Is this a mistake, or is it implied that he fought more and got injured between DuPont's office and the broadcast room?
Chosen answer: This is actually addressed in the DVD director's commentary. The wound was caused by a bullet grazing Preston's neck during his gun duel with DuPont. Due to adrenaline and shock however, it didn't begin to bleed until after Preston had killed DuPont and his body began to relax. The relative unlikelihood of this is moot since it is technically possible. So the scene in the broadcast room takes place immediately after Preston kills DuPont. Interestingly, it was Christian Bale's idea to add the wound because he thought it would make Preston seem too superhuman if he escaped the previous battles completely unharmed.
Question: Between series 5-7, how many times does Rory Williams die?
Chosen answer: In one way or another, eight times. He dies twice in the episode "Amy's Choice", once in each of the two dreams, firstly killed by an Eknodine in the Leadworth version of the dream, then again when the Doctor blew up the TARDIS in the other dream to allow them to escape it. He's then killed by the Silurian Restac in "Cold Blood", shortly before his body is consumed by the cracks in time, erasing him from history completely. He returns as an Auton duplicate, restored from Amy's memory, in "The Pandorica Opens" - this duplicate is destroyed in "The Big Bang" when the universe is reset, although some memories live on in the human Rory recreated in the rebooted universe. He died again in "The Curse of the Black Spot", but was successfully resuscitated by Amy. He's seen to die of old age in "The Angels Take Manhattan", then kills himself in the same episode by jumping from a high roof (as does Amy) to set up a paradox to eliminate the Angel threat. He then finally dies off-camera at the age of 82 after having been sent back in time by a surviving Angel, having lived out a long and happy life with Amy.
Question: Vincent mentioned that he was in Amsterdam for over 3 years, does anybody know why he spent such a long time there? And was he friends with Jules before he went to Amsterdam?
Chosen answer: I inferred from the conversations that he'd committed some major crime and had to flee the country and go into hiding until the heat died down.
Question: I have this on DVD, but I'm sure a scene was cut out, on the video was there a scene where Archie was standing there naked and the family walk in, and Wanda comes down, kisses him, and leaves?
Answer: Haven't ever seen a deleted scene of this. It's more likely that Wanda slipped out an upstairs door or window.
Question: In the flashback scene of Rex entering the secret facility, what was he looking at on all of the computer screens and why would he use them later on after he faked his death?
Question: Something I've always wondered about T2 since I was a child, why does the T-1000 stick to the appearance of the first person that he killed throughout the whole movie? Any time he kills and takes the form of a person he always changes back to the first policeman he killed, why?
Chosen answer: Robert Patrick is not actually the first guy he killed. That is his default form that he came back through time as. He does kill a cop moments after time travel and dons his uniform. That is what you see him revert to, clothing wise, presumably because appearing to be a police officer has more advantages than regular civilians.
Those are fine answers since they fit the scenario, but the real answer is because the filmmakers know that if the T-1000 keeps changing appearance they could confuse some of the audience which would decrease the movie's appeal. A consistent form lets people immediately identify him.
Answer: Because there are lots of things a cop can do and places they can go that others can't, so it's an ideal form to keep. For example, nobody questions why a cop is carrying a gun in public.
Question: At about 37:14 in the movie, while Shrek and Fiona are running through the castle, there appears to be a giant book in the background that seems very out of place. Can anyone explain what it is doing there? I don't have high enough resolution to read any of the text.
Answer: It's a cookbook - the book is open to a chapter reading "Knightly Treats" and has a list of ingredients (for the nearby stew pot) and cooking instructions underneath that. The other page shows a drawing of a knight and where to cut him up, with the phrase at the bottom reading "Choice Cuts".
Question: Given that Sergeant Hulka was only the platoon's drill sergeant, that means his authority should have been done once they graduated from basic training. So why did he turn up in Germany and continue to give them orders?
Chosen answer: According to the movie's premise and plot, once they (the platoon) impressed the brass at graduation and was assigned to the Germany gig with the "EM-50", Sgt. Hulka would naturally be with them as he was their original commanding officer. Plus, it would be logical to suggest that he would personally assign himself the detail of overseeing his platoon as they were his to begin with.
He's assigned as a Drill Sergeant, that is his job. Once he was fully healed he would have been assigned another group of recruits.
Answer: He wanted to make sure that they don't screw up this very important assignment, which they did.
