Answer: I would think that the sheer emotional stress of what he's gone through that day would be quite enough to provoke a few tears.

Question: What does Dr. Jackson say when they send the probe through? Is it, "Where are we on that map?" or, "Where will it be on that map?"

Answer: It's "Where are we on that map?" the reply given is "The blue dot". He then traces the path to the other side of the map where the probe is shown, which is on the other side of the universe.

Question: I am confused as to an event when the Rangers are in Osgiliath. Why one of the Nazgul (possibly the Witch King himself) would be within a few feet of the One Ring, and allow himself to be driven off by an arrow shot into the Fell Beast. After seeing the One Ring, he flew off....I doubt that Sauron would have understood.

scwilliam

Chosen answer: Well, for one thing, he's most likely having a hard time controlling the arrow-shot Fell Beast. Secondly, there's no evidence that he positively identified the Ring. He saw a hobbit, which he knows are of interest, but, as Sam intercepts Frodo before he puts the Ring on, has no way of knowing that he actually held the Ring itself. Given the level of resistance on the ground, it doesn't make good tactical sense to try and land the annoyed Fell Beast to chase after a hobbit.

Question: When Luke ventures into the cave on Dagobah the camera, for whatever reason, holds on a lizard of some kind hissing at him. Anyone know what species it is?

Answer: Kimodo Dragon (Varanus komodensis) The Komodo dragon is the world's largest lizard species. It is found mainly on the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rintja, Padar, and Flores. There are only an estimated 1,000 to 5,000 of these monitor lizards living today. Reaching lengths of up to 3 m or more, and weighing up to 126 kg, these reptiles are swift runners and climbers with great appetites for deer and wild boar. The best website to find about this is at www.isidore-of-seville.com/komodo/.

Question: I thought I recognised the woman that pushes Forrest in line for the Vietnam veteran demonstration as a cameo of Sandra Bullock, and the woman Jenny as a hippie is playing guitar with (before the guy asks them to go to SF) as a cameo of Lisa Kudrow. Anyone knows whether this is correct?

Answer: The actress you think might be Sandra Bullock is listed as a actress named Hilary Chaplain.

Answer: They are not listed on IMDB as such. Also by 1994, Sandra Bullock's only memorable appearance was Demolition Man (her real popularity started with Speed in 1994), and Lisa Kudrow was only known for the waitress on "Mad About You" - a minor role. Neither would have been a likely choice for a "cameo" role, yet at the same time would probably have charged too much for an extra/walk-on.

Question: During an outtake with the 3 aliens hanging from the roof of the car, one of them asks another if he made it into the first Toy Story movie. The other alien says, "On the letterbox (widescreen) copy." Is this true?

Answer: Um, this is a joke. Pixar reframe their films for full-screen releases, so as not to lose any of the action, so, in terms of aliens appearing, there shouldn't be any difference between the widescreen and full-screen versions.

Question: When Truman is looking at the photo album by himself what is it that he sees in the wedding photo that makes him act oddly around Meryl the next morning?

Answer: In the wedding photo, Meryl has her fingers crossed which means she doesn't agree with what she is doing. Most of the time, when you are lying you cross your fingers. Obviously because she is just an actress, she does not love Truman. The next morning when Meryl leaves, Truman says "I'll cross my fingers for ya" and she looks at him funny.

Question: Why did Jack not turn into a skeleton in the moonlight in the prison (near the beginning), but at the end he did turn into a skeleton in the moonlight?

Answer: He wasn't cursed at the beginning because the crew mutinied against him before they reached the island with the Aztec gold. He becomes cursed during his speech to Barbossa near the end when he takes a few gold coins from the chest and returns most, but not all, of them.

Phoenix

Question: At the beginning of the film, Shrek and Fiona's door number "2" grows into the "Shrek 2" logo. If Shrek and Fiona are at number 2, who lives at number 1?

Moose

Chosen answer: Maybe another fairytale creature, but we are not told. Or maybe the house numbers go up evenly (2, 4, 6 etc.) like they do on some roads, so maybe there even is no number 1.

Question: What is the name of the Black and White movie that Caine and his Grandparents are watching in the house after Caine has been shot?

Question: What happened to Carol's clinic? It stopped running just after she left, but she wasn't actually running it at that point?

Answer: Carol stopped being involved with the clinic in Season 5 - The Storm (2) so that it wouldn't be shut down because of her "borrowing" some equipment. Her last episode was Season 6 - Such Sweet Sorrow, that's 22 episodes later which would be a long time for a sub-plot to last with none of the major characters having any involvement in it.

Question: We see Jack in the picture at the end of the film which was painted in 1921 which I guess means that Nicholson was either possessed or reincarnated...but does anyone have a definite answer? Or does Kubrick just want us to decide for ourselves?

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: The idea is that Nicholson's soul has been around for a long time, and that each time he is reborn he returns to the Overlook Hotel and goes on a murder spree. This is facilitated by the evil, restless spirits residing in the hotel. The movie definitely drops some hints that Jack is a reincarnation in the following scenes: After they have been at the Overlook awhile, Wendy talks to Jack upstairs in the bedroom after she brings him breakfast. Jack tells Wendy that he feels like he has been at the Overlook before and upon being given the initial tour of the hotel, he almost knew what was around every corner. According to Delbert Grady during the chilling bathroom scene, Jack has always been the caretaker, which most certainly suggests he is a reincarnation.

Phoenix

Question: Which villain is Harry Osborn supposed to become? I know Dr. Connors is the Lizard and Jameson is responsible for bringing Venom into the scene, but what's being hinted at with Harry?

Answer: Harry Osborn is also going to be the Green Goblin - comic book fan sites will refer to this as Green Goblin II. John Jameson finds a red gemstone on the moon that turns him into the Man-Wolf. Spiderman finds the Venom suit/symbiote himself on Battleworld, so that's not John's fault.

Question: This applies to a lot of war films, but what is a klick?

Answer: It's American military slang for a kilometre.

Hamster

Question: How exactly do the producers "remove" Gary Sinise's legs? Is it through computer imaging, or does Gary bend his legs, creating the illusion of amputation?

Answer: Mostly by computer - they wrapped his legs in "blue screen" fabric, then the computer replaced that color with shots of the same scene taken without his legs.

Question: I've heard that in the U.K., a part of the film had to be cut to give it a PG rating, does anybody know what this part was?

Answer: It was a headbutt - when Spider-Man and Doc Oc are free falling, Aunt May is struggling to hold on to the umbrella, and Spider-Man throws a head butt at Doc. It's included in a Blu-Ray version.

Out of Mind (1) - S2-E22

Question: This goes for 'Into The Fire' as well. Where did Hathor get her Jaffa? In 'Hathor' she breathed on the men. That doesn't work on Jaffa. Where / how did she get her Ship?

Answer: Once a Goa'uld defeats another, the winner claims all the loser's worlds, ships, Jaffa, etc. Hathor either had a ship hidden or killed another system lord (through treachery most likely) and took over his resources.

Grumpy Scot

Question: How old is Peter, Mary Jane and Harry in the original, and then in this movie?

Answer: They all graduate together in the first movie and then end up celebrating the next Thanksgiving together, so they are probably 18-19 years old. In the second movie Aunt May mentions that it's been two years since Ben died, so they are about 20-21.

Question: After seeing this film, I have questions that need answering: 1) What are the differences between Fundamentalists, Conservatives, and Evangelicals? 2) What is a "mainline" church, as this is something I often hear from Evangelicals?

megamii

Chosen answer: No way to answer this without over simplifying or offending someone, but here goes... To characterize the three types by their one particular focus (and ignoring all other differences and similarities), Conservatives' main focus is for values/practices/whatever to stay the way that they have traditionally been. Fundamentalists want change from tradition to a stricter, more literal interpretation of the Bible. Evangelicals main focus is to be close to God to convert others to Christianity. Of course there are all sorts of combinations of all three as well. "Mainline" churches are the large, well-established, well-accepted mainstream denominations, e.g. Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, Episcopalian, etc. etc.

Question: When Norman says the guy "that wrote that book he loves" (Shumway?) congratulated him on Spencer's Theorem, then Claire says "He didn't know your father was dead?" and Norman says "He knew". What does one thing have to do with the other? I've seen this movie at least 20 times and I can't figure out this conversation.

Ingabritzen

Chosen answer: Spencer's theorem was Norman's father's theorem. Norman wants to be greater than his father was, so to be accidentally complemented on something that his father did would be bad enough. To say that the guy knows that his father is dead is to imply that the guy probably insulted him intentionally.
