Continuity mistake: Busujima is playing with his handheld console inside the hospital room. When he puts the console down, you can see his smartphone on the bed; however, it's behind the pillow in one shot, well in front of it in the next.(00:15:50)
Other mistake: There's a coloring mistake in the glass in front of Busujima in the shot when finishes playing his handheld game and sends the waitress away; the glass is half empty / half full...but vertically. The part to the right of the straw is full to the brim and the part to its left is nearly empty.(00:10:35)
Continuity mistake: Kindaichi and his friend are watching Tamaki's roaring success with the ladies on his first day of school. At the first cut there are clear changes in their position (just look at Kindaichi's hand).(00:03:50)
Continuity mistake: Miyuki listens all dreamy to the guy who nearly killed her. When he says that he's been in America the past years, she joins her hands together; she does it with the pinky finger of her right-hand being the bottom finger, but in the next close-up the bottom finger is her left pinky.(00:03:40)
Continuity mistake: Mr. Ferguson and Rosalie Otterbourne say goodbye to Poirot; Ferguson is holding a suitcase in his right hand, but when Poirot says one last thing to them, the suitcase disappeared mid-stairs.(02:17:15)
Plot hole: This movie adaptation adds an odd bit where an attempt is made on Poirot's life using a cobra. How in the world did the culprit manage to get a hold of a venomous snake, is never explained or addressed and goes against the carefully designed plot, since the culprit would have needed to obtain it through a third party (a member of the staff, perhaps) and that would expose them. Poirot actually says "you found another use for that serpent" but the idea that Simon actually obtained the snake before they devised the plan and somehow just happened to carry it around on honeymoon when the plan for his uxoricide was entirely different and carefully prepared, is even more absurd.
Continuity mistake: In the scene with Poirot freaking out about the 7 asymmetrical pastries, in the side view Poirot's water glass is far away from him, past the bottle. It is closer to him, to the other side of the bottle, in the overhead view.(00:12:15)
Continuity mistake: When Poirot shouts at the ribald kite-flier, he stands up from the chair with his arms close to his body. View from behind, and his arms are wide.(00:17:10)
Continuity mistake: Poirot and his brothers in arms are rejoicing after their victorious assault to the bridge. The guy who doubted him gives him a pat on the back. The other soldier switches hands on his rifle, and repeats the switch in the next shot.(00:04:55)
Continuity mistake: Poirot gnaws the pearls Cornelia returned and deems them to be fake. He indignantly tosses them on the desk, where they show up in the following shot neatly arranged.(01:05:15)
Continuity mistake: Inside the saloon, Poirot says he knows who killed the three victims. Maggie Smith is looking at him, her left forearm raised. In the reverse shot, her arm is down.(01:52:55)
Continuity mistake: The 'moray eel' on Poirot's plate is shown in close-up. The garnish is on the left side of the plate. In the wide angles though (and at one point Poirot lifts the plate, so we get a good view) the plate is turned differently, the garnish being on the side opposite Poirot's seat.(01:43:00)
Audio problem: During the dinner scene when Poirot finds an eel in his plate, the quartet plays a song in perfect classical music, but they are using instruments typical of the local folklore. A rebec does not sound like a violin.(01:42:55)
Continuity mistake: Poirot uncovers the dead body in the ice cellar; he does not touch the body anymore, but the hair is scattered on the table in a different position when Race retrieves the pearls.(01:36:45)
Visible crew/equipment: Poirot and Race pass by the camera to reach the top deck and investigate the noise they heard after the attempt on Poirot's life. When they go up the stairs, you can see a shadow from the camera equipment go slightly up when the camera goes up with them.(01:28:20)
Revealing mistake: When a dangerous cobra threatens some stand-in wearing Poirot's pants, under the sink you can see the reflections on the protective glass.(01:25:50)
Continuity mistake: Poirot enters his bathroom to freshen up. There's a brush on the left side of the sink, placed on top of a box. When the cobra sticks its head up, the brush rests directly on the sink.(01:25:40 - 01:26:05)
Continuity mistake: When Jane Birkin is talking to Poirot in French, David Niven is leaning against the back of her chair with his hand. Cut, and he's watching her with his arms crossed.(01:22:05)
