Monk (2002)

Mr. Monk Gets Married - S2-E15

Deliberate mistake: Joshua Skinner hid a fortune in gold by melting it down, mixing it with ink and writing it into 947 journals. Monk's producer concedes that in real life, 947 journals would probably hold "only about $11 worth" of gold-laced ink. But the idea was so amusing that he couldn't resist using it anyway. (00:42:00)

UFO (1970)

The Psychobombs - S1-E12

Plot hole: The alien-possessed Mason steals Captain Lauritzen's fingerprints by pressing his fingertips to the captain's and "heat transferring" the prints. Big problems here: those prints would now be backwards and for the wrong hand. But when the computer later reads the prints, it fails to notice this and passes him through security as "Identity Correct." (00:23:30)

The 'J' for Judas Affair - S4-E3

Factual error: Apparently, U.N.C.L.E. bullets can do 180s. Illya fires at the fleeing Thrush limo from behind, and without hitting any of its other (closed) windows, somehow puts two bullets through the car's front windshield. (00:48:20)

Jean G

The 'J' for Judas Affair - S4-E3

Continuity mistake: At the airfield, Illya stands near a bright red fuel truck marked "FLAMMABLE." Every time the shot changes, his position shifts from standing to the right of the final E to blocking it altogether. (00:23:35)

The 'J' for Judas Affair - S4-E3

Revealing mistake: During the foot-chase through Tenza HQ, the Thrush gunman, with Illya in hot pursuit, races around a hallway corner. As Illya runs into the shot, the gunman's shadow reappears on the back wall, revealing the fact that the actor has stopped and is standing back there. Next shot, though, he's running down another corridor and through a door. (00:14:35)

The 'J' for Judas Affair - S4-E3

Continuity mistake: In the intro, Illya shows Solo an automatic rifle he's retrieved after the shoot-out in the mausoleum. In full shot, he's holding his U.N.C.L.E. Special pistol in his right hand as he points to the logo on the rifle's stock. In the close-up insert of his hand, the Special disappears. (00:02:50)

The Master's Touch Affair - S4-E6

Revealing mistake: Solo's little red sports car has an intact windshield in the studio processed shots (done indoors with rear-screen projection). But in all the outdoor shots of the car, the windshield is, for some strange reason, missing entirely. (00:24:20)

Blake's 7 (1978)

Power - S4-E2

Deliberate mistake: Because Paul Darrow had turned an ankle while shooting the fight scene with Gunsar, the uninjured Avon is inexplicably limping throughout most of the fight. (00:14:00)

Blake's 7 (1978)

Traitor - S4-E3

Revealing mistake: BBC costume recycling allows one of the natives on Helotrix to show up wearing one of Tarrant's old 3rd season outfits. Another wears an even older, 1st season costume of Avon's. (00:22:40 - 00:24:25)

Blake's 7 (1978)

Power - S4-E2

Continuity mistake: Cato's body moves to a different spot on the floor relative to the unconscious Avon, who also moves. (The two are suddenly much farther apart than before.) Cato's hands also change positions. (00:31:40 - 00:35:00)

Blake's 7 (1978)

Power - S4-E2

Continuity mistake: At the end, Dayna and Tarrant, shortly followed by Soolin and Vila, all teleport to Scorpio without wearing the necessary bracelets. (00:47:35)

Blake's 7 (1978)

Traitor - S4-E3

Continuity mistake: The president-elect's body changes both poses and locations on the floor between the time Sleer shoots him and the time he's found and the murder investigation is begun. (00:26:00 - 00:31:25)

Blake's 7 (1978)

Traitor - S4-E3

Visible crew/equipment: When the crew are discussing Helotrix, big yellow power cables (probably used to light up Scorpio's main flight console) are showing at the right of the screen. (00:09:20)

Star Trek (1966)

Miri - S1-E9

Factual error: If Miri's planet is a "duplicate" (meaning identical) Earth, it should have clouds. It doesn't. This remains a mistake because "duplicate" means "exactly the same," and thus the clouds should be there. The special effects crew forgot to put them in. Noteworthy: the very first thing fixed in the digitally enhanced version of this episode was the duplicate Earth. It has clouds now. (00:01:30)

Question: Aside from puzzling the heck out of aliens who never invented the wheel, was the bicycle in the cellar bit perhaps a little directorial homage to ET?

Jean G

Chosen answer: This is probably a bit of a stretch. I have two old bicycles in my basement.

wizard_of_gore

Answer: I assumed that these were alien "toddlers", and were just "playing" and "exploring."

UFO (1970)

Exposed - S1-E2

Revealing mistake: Another piece of stock footage used throughout the series was a shot of the shiny metal sign for Harlington-Straker Studios. The clock on the side of a building is reflected in the sign's surface, always showing the same time of day - so it's 1:50 every time Straker drives by. (00:24:00)

UFO (1970)

Conflict - S1-E4

Deliberate mistake: For reasons unknown and unexplainable, the otherwise spacious and well-equipped Moonbase has halls and doorways too short for the average human to fit through without ducking. (00:20:00)
