Deliberate mistake: Coming back to Earth in 1998, Stone is amazed to see the Cincinnati Reds and the NY Yankees on TV in an interleague game. This wasn't yet possible in '98, as an American League East team could then play only a National League East team (and the Reds are NL Central). But the producers put it in anyway as their own little "fantasy baseball game," because these were their favorite teams.

Continuity mistake: Number 6 points the mirror out to sea and tries to send a signal. But when we see him from the POV of the security camera, he's pointing the signal mirror toward the Village instead. When the shot cuts back to him on the beach, the buildings are again behind him and he's facing seaward again.

Continuity mistake: When Number 2 is shouting at Number 14, calling him a traitor, Number 2's long strands of hair are flying all over his head. In the very next shot, though, his hair has nicely combed itself and he's well-groomed again.

Trivia: Shooting on the dungeon scene was held up for several hours due to a missing make-up man. The director and Katharine Hepburn, who needed her make-up done, trudged all over the castle grounds searching, only to find the man playing poker with Peter O'Toole and several crew members. Furious, Hepburn smacked O'Toole in the head with a heavy handbag. In retribution, O'Toole noisily interrupted her next scene. Moaning and groaning, he burst through a dungeon door swathed head-to-toe in bloody white bandages, sending the entire cast and crew into gales of laughter. (From the director's DVD commentary.)

Trivia: Filming was delayed for several weeks after Anthony Hopkins fell from a horse and broke his arm. In several scenes, his armor is concealing a plaster cast. Director Anthony Harvey was stricken with hepatitis, causing further delays in post-production editing. Only Katharine Hepburn's intervention stopped the film's Hollywood backers from handing editing duties off to someone else and from possibly shelving the entire project. Continuity mistake: When Victoria first arrives in 1790, she "translates" the three mystic symbols on her dress label for Abigail, saying that they mean "Machine Wash, Tumble Dry and Low Iron." But when Abigail shows the dress to Reverend Trask, she tells him that Victoria told her the symbols meant "Tumble Dry, Low Iron and Permanent Press." Victoria never mentioned Permanent Press. On the way, he's trying to buckle on his gun-belt, but he fumbles it and his gun falls to the ground near the hitching rail. Continuity mistake: When they've opened the chest, Leslie pays Heyes $1500 in cash, which he's holding in his hand when the gang of robbers gallops up. In the next shot, Heyes turns and raises his hands, and the cash he was holding has disappeared. (00:31:40)

Factual error: Number 6 wakes up to find the Village deserted, but the central plaza fountain is still running - until he looks at it from the bell tower, when it's suddenly off. The Village fountains never appeared to be on timers (they were always on, day and night), and no one is there to turn the water off, yet it's somehow still off when Number 6 returns at the end.
