Hogan's Heroes (1965)

Trivia: Hogan's Heroes was originally conceived as a comedy set in a U.S. Penitentiary. Creator Bernard Fein tried for four years to sell it, gave up, and was headed home on a plane when he saw a passenger reading the novel Von Ryan's Express. That gave him an idea. He flew back to Hollywood with a proposal for a show now set in a German P.O.W. Camp, and sold the series in four days.

Leverage (2008)

The Mile High Job - S1-E8

Trivia: Someone on Leverage's writing staff is a Dr. Who fan. When the team is on the escalator at the airport, Hardison asks Nate over the ear piece, "What IDs have you got on you?" Nate replies, "Let's see, we've got Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy, and I have a Tom Baker." Sophie chirps, "Oh! I have a Baker as well!" Nate and Sophie then board the plane as Mr. and Mrs. Tom Baker. This was the first of what would become a running gag: the Tom Baker alias and several other Who references recur throughout the series. (00:12:00)

Pilot (1) - S1-E1

Trivia: A number of in-joke Dr. Who references crop up throughout the series pilot. A group of doctors and scientists are introduced as Hartnell, Troughton, and Baker; there's a business card for I. M. Foreman in Totters Lane; and the cover of a science magazine sports headlines such as "Time and Relative Dimension in Space" and "Playing the Game of Rassilon."

In an interview about The Great Escape he said that the film's producers weren't interested in hearing his suggestions about making the camp scenes more realistic, so "I simply learned to shut my mouth."

Far Beyond the Stars - S6-E13

Trivia: Sisco purchases a copy of Galaxy at the newsstand. In an homage to the original Star Trek, the mock-up magazine's cover art is a matte painting of "Starbase 11" that appeared as a background in the episodes "Court Martial" and "Menagerie, Part 1."

Ragtime (1981)

Trivia: James Cagney was granted several "special dispensations" when he agreed to appear in this film. He was given an opt-out clause allowing him to quit at any time should he deem the schedule too grueling; his presence convinced the unions to allow Ragtime to continue shooting during a major strike, a privilege afforded no other movie in production at the time; and when the ailing 81-year-old Cagney had trouble memorizing lines, director Miloš Forman had cue cards prepared for him.
