Ko'olauloa - S1-E6

Continuity mistake: When McGarrett chases the bad guys' Jeep, his Camaro skids through several huge dust clouds. Immediately after each cloud, however, the car is perfectly clean again. This is visible in several of the very rapid shots throughout the chase. After the chase ends, a coating of dirt and mud (which, incidentally, differs from the earlier shots) appears on the Camaro.

Factual error: When the Police Commissioner is negotiating with Coalhouse Walker Jr. over the phone, the earpiece hook on the phone is in the off position.

Trivia: James Cagney was granted several "special dispensations" when he agreed to appear in this film. He was given an opt-out clause allowing him to quit at any time should he deem the schedule too grueling; his presence convinced the unions to allow Ragtime to continue shooting during a major strike, a privilege afforded no other movie in production at the time; and when the ailing 81-year-old Cagney had trouble memorizing lines, director Miloš Forman had cue cards prepared for him.

Trivia: J. Michael Staczynski wanted to create mature, adult science fiction — not a kids' show. His rule was that any cute kids that appeared in an episode had to be killed off by the end of that episode (e.g. "Believers" and "Confessions and Lamentations.").

Trivia: Straczynski planned out Babylon 5's entire story arc from the beginning. He kept a written copy of it on a 200-page encrypted computer file. Straczynski never revealed his full plans to his writing team until the very end of the series. He intentionally included red herrings in the plot so that viewers would not be able to predict the outcome of the series.

Continuity mistake: Roy is stalled in his truck at the railroad track. We see the mailboxes behind him burst open and all the mail comes flying out. Next shot, from inside the truck, the mailboxes are closed. Then another outside view shows them open again.

Trivia: Jenny and Max Nichols, the children of director Mike Nichols, both appear in the film: Jenny is the silhouette artist's little girl, and young Max plays the son of Mary Steenburgen's "Mother" character.

Visible crew/equipment: When Jason, his brothers and all his men are marching down the wet street, tire treadmarks from the camera truck are visible in the mud under their feet.

Trivia: On the advice of his doctor, James Cagney came out of retirement after 20 years to appear in Ragtime, his last theatrical film. He traveled to London for the shooting by ship (he hated planes), and because diabetes confined him to a wheel chair, a double (shot from behind) performed all the scenes of him standing or walking. While the epithet "ni**er" is uttered by several white characters throughout the movie, Cagney refused to use it, so for his lines, the less offensive word "buck" was substituted.

Visible crew/equipment: During the prison escape, as Phelps and Cole are stealing the car, a microphone can be seen above them, hanging more than a foot into the shot. (00:18:20)

Factual error: Sarah tries to talk to "Vice President Fairbanks" during his campaign stop at the train depot. The movie is set in 1906, which wasn't an election year. Fairbanks ran for VP on Theodore Roosevelt's ticket in 1904, but he was a senator at the time, not the standing vice president. Roosevelt had no VP during his first term. He succeeded the assassinated William McKinley, and never appointed a VP.

Factual error: In the train station crowd scene, there are 50-star flags being waved by people on the platform. In 1906, there were only 46 states.
