Revealing mistake: After the pirates open the gate on the Governor's property, they run towards the mansion and in the shot from behind they are casting shadows on the ground to their right. In the next shot from Elizabeth's window, they are casting long shadows directly in front of themselves. (00:31:55)

Deliberate mistake: During the pirates' attack on Port Royal, when they go about cutting and slicing, it is very obvious many times, especially in close-ups, that fists, weapons, etc., do not make contact, and the victims usually have a delayed reaction or react before actually being hit. This type of thing occurs numerous times aboard Interceptor, on Tortuga, and Isla de Muerta. (00:31:20)

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: During the attack on Port Royal, Will crosses his axe (left hand) and sword (right hand) overhead to block a pirate's blow and then proceeds to slice that pirate across his abdomen. Yet in the previous shot, in which another pirate with a cap stabs a man who is leaning against a stone wall, we see Will in the background on the left of the screen, having stabbed that pirate in the abdomen already. Obviously cut and the takes were edited out of sequence. (00:31:20)

Visible crew/equipment: When the Black Pearl fires on Port Royal, during the cannon fire in the town, one of the stuntmen shouts as he is being propelled into the air by a spring board and then lands on a vegetable cart. The spring board is perfectly visible behind a wheelbarrow and sack. This occurs just before the first shot of the chimney exploding. (This is another stuntman and spring board than the other mistake.) (00:30:20)

Revealing mistake: After Will slams the gold bowl down over the pirate's head, this pirate spends time trying to pry the bowl off his head with great difficulty. When Jacoby tosses the bomb, Will dives, then lands and seen in the background is the gold bowl pirate. The bowl actually starts to FALL OFF his head, so the actor reaches up with his left hand to keep it on his head for the shot. However after Elizabeth asks, "Whose side is Jack on?" the pirate is very pleased with himself when he is finally able to pry the bowl off, just before Elizabeth whacks him. (01:59:35)

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: After skewering the three skeletal pirates, Will places the lit bomb inside of Jacoby. In the close-up Will places the bomb through Jacoby's ribs, right under his beard and Jacoby's leather strap and buckle are not seen. Yet in the next shot as Will removes his hand, the strap and buckle are slung across Jacoby's ribs near his beard. It should have been seen in the close-up. (02:00:30)

Revealing mistake: When Jack sees Will run toward the Aztec chest, he quickly slices his palm and parries with Barbossa. In the shot facing Barbossa, Jack strikes the sword out of Barbossa's hand, then as Barbossa spins around his right hand is empty, and we hear the sword falling in the distance. However, when Barbossa says, "Ten years you carry that pistol..." Barbossa is still miraculously holding his sword - the sword tip is moving at the bottom of the screen, as he speaks. (More of the sword is visible on VHS.) (02:00:45)

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: When Will hangs on the boom over the water, Jack says, "I can't bring this ship into Tortuga all by me onesy.." Then he brings the boom back and Will falls. While Will lies on the deck, in both shots, a band on the bottom of the right leg of his breeches is seen above his leg hose, whereas in the previous shot when he was falling from the boom, the band in not there. (00:50:10)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: While standing near the Aztec chest, Will says, "He didn't waste it," and in this shot there are two buttons closed on his vest, over the belt buckle. Yet, in the close-up of Will's hand dropping the two pieces of gold, there is only one button closed on his vest, over the buckle. (02:01:10)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After Elizabeth whacks Jacoby and tells him to try wearing a corset, she helps Will to his feet. In the close-up of Will smiling and looking at her, his hair is noticeably wet and very stringy. However when Elizabeth asks, "Whose side is Jack on?" Will's hair is no longer wet. (01:59:50)

Super Grover

Continuity mistake: Jack tosses the medallion to Will. After a shot of Will's hand catching it and Jack's reaction, in the front shot of Barbossa as he pulls out his gun, the leather strap is slung across his chest high up near his neck with the buckle at his lower left side. Yet in the close-up when he reveals the wound, the leather strap is lower on his chest and the buckle is now higher up at his right side. (02:00:50)

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: On their way to Isla de Muerta aboard Interceptor, Will and Gibbs discuss Jack and his history. Seen to the left of Gibbs are some of the crew looking out while standing at the ship's rail. It is obvious in some of these shots that the background is edited, the crew have the distinguishable blue screen ring around their bodies. (01:05:50)

Psycho (1960)

Trivia: Alfred Hitchcock adapted Psycho from a story by author Robert Bloch, who had modeled the character of Norman Bates after Ed Gein, who is suspected to have killed his victims between 1954 and 1957. In the asphyxiation death of his brother Henry (who was verbally critical of their neurotic-controlling mother) in 1944, though the supposedly harmless young Gein was quickly dismissed as a suspect, it's believed that he was guilty of that crime too. Other characters very loosely based on Gein are Buffalo Bill in "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991) and Thomas Hewitt in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974). The main similarities to Gein that appear in "Psycho" include the feminine qualities of Norman Bates and the disturbingly strong attachment to the cruel domineering mother.

Continuity mistake: Aboard Interceptor, Will points his sword at Jack, and Jack swings the boom that slams into Will. In the side wide shot as the boom comes toward Will, when we see Will's hands as he grasps the boom, he is not holding the sword, nor do we see it drop or see it on the deck; however, we do hear it hit the deck. In the next shot, Jack picks up Will's sword near the line and rail, where it didn't exist in the previous shot. (00:49:35)

The Big Chill (1983)

Trivia: A group of old college friends reunite at the funeral of Alex, another old college friend. The part of Alex, the corpse, who is only partially seen in the unusual opening credits with the undertaker, is played by Kevin Costner, in one of his first roles on film.

Super Grover

Revealing mistake: Koehler and Twig are with Jack in the prison when Koehler reaches for Jack's neck through the cell bars. In the first shot, the ray of moonlight is outside of the cell bars, over Jack's head, so Koehler's arm becomes skeletal while still outside the bars and we see the 'cursed' sleeve till the elbow. However, in the next shot, the ray of moonlight is only inside the cell where Koehler reaches, so Koehler's arm and sleeve are normal until it becomes skeletal, just when it's inside the cell. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After escaping, while Jack is swinging quickly about on the rope, in the first wide shot, he hangs low on the rope and the excess rope reaches his knees. When Jack yells, "Whoa!" he is higher on the rope and yet the excess rope still just reaches his knees. Then when Norrington shouts, "Open fire!" still higher on the rope, the excess rope is now way below his feet. (00:19:50)

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl mistake picture

Continuity mistake: While underwater, as Jack removes Elizabeth's water-logged dress, his left hand and arm are visibly clean, as well as when he has her on his shoulder at the dock. Then while kneeling over her on the dock, Jack's left hand and arm are extremely grimy and dirty. Yet when Norrington grabs Jack to bring him to Gillette, and while Jack holds Elizabeth hostage, his left hand and arm are clean once again. (00:16:10 - 00:18:40)

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Haldir says, "Welcome Legolas, son of Thranduil," the outfit that Legolas wears is not the same in these shots than in the previous and following shots. Gimli's hair/beard are not as full and his prosthetics are a bit different too. Apparently this scene was one of the first to be filmed, but they realized later that this outfit wasn't working for the role of Legolas, so they changed it. Commentary on extended DVD. (00:45:30)

Continuity mistake: At Osgiliath, when Frodo turns to face Faramir, just before Faramir kneels in front of the Hobbits, the Ring and chain hang outside Frodo's shirt. Yet just before Faramir says, "Then it is forfeit," the Ring is tucked inside Frodo's shirt. (01:37:20)
