Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: After wrapping the lines round the stern cleats, Quint yells, "Stand away from those stern cleats!" In the wideshot Quint stands at the wheel on the bridge deck, facing the bow, but in the next close-up he stands beside the foremast, below the crow's nest, facing the stern. (01:43:05)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: At the harbor, just as Brody asks, "Help me get those guys out of the boat, will you?" in the wideshot there are five men standing on the dock and three standing in the boat. Then in the next close-up, there are four on the dock and four in the boat. The one in a black/white check shirt is now at the end of the dock and the one in a black rain slicker, that was standing on the dock, is now suddenly standing in the boat below, at its stern. Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: When Mayor Vaughn, Hendricks and the others join Brody on the ferry, as they reach the other side of the harbor the coroner's front leans on the car, as he faces the Mayor and Brody. However, in the next shot the coroner's back now leans on the car, as he faces the opposite way. (00:13:25)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: Before Alex's attack, the guy who plays with his dog Pippet on the beach wears a bright yellow Izod polo shirt with straight hemmed sleeves, in all of his close-ups. However, in all of the wideshots the polo he wears is pale yellow, with shorter sleeves that have the classic rib-knit sleeve openings. (00:14:10)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: While Brody watches the woman in the water, before Alex is attacked, there is a blue and yellow raft in the cabana behind him. In the close-up of his face, just before Harry's black capped head pops out of the water, the raft is gone. Then when Ellen massages Brody's neck the raft is back. The cooler and other assorted items change position between shots as well. (00:15:00)

Jaws (1975)

Audio problem: Alex asks his mom if he can still go in the water, and when she says, "Just ten more minutes," although it is a side shot of her face, it is easy to see that her mouth movements are not in sync with her words. (00:13:50)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: When Brody yells for everyone to get out of the water after Alex's attack, the position of all the adults and children as they run differ greatly depending on camera angle, regardless of the ensuing mayhem. (00:17:25)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: The man speaking to Brody on the beach, while Brody is preoccupied with staring at the water, has salt and pepper colored hair, but in the close-up shots facing Brody the man's hair very noticeably differs, as well as his upper body structure and tan. (00:15:40)

Audio problem: When Charlie shouts, "Hey! He's takin' it! He's takin' it! He's takin' it!" his lips actually say something else. (00:26:20)

Jaws (1975)

Revealing mistake: When the shark takes the fishermen's bait, the attached chain pulls one corner piling at the corner of the small dock. When the dock gives way in the wide shot, another line around the second corner piling visibly pulls it as well, in order for the dock to break apart effectively for the stunt. (00:26:25)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: When the shark swims away with the roast bait, a dramatic close-up of the quickly unfurling thick link chain lying on the dock is shown beside the trashcan. The unmoving end of the chain lies behind, to the left of the trashcan and the end being pulled is on the right, with the slack at the center. Now when the chain is pulled taught in the following shots, the trashcan should have flipped over, if the slack chain was indeed where it was shown to be in the close-up. In the wide shots the trashcan sits on the left at the center of the dock, but the chain being pulled is attached to the piling at the right corner end of the dock. (00:26:15)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: On the dock, Charlie and Denherder wrap a link chain around the corner piling, which is yanked when the shark takes the roast bait. In the close-up the chain is pulled taught from the front and breaks free, but in the next wide shot the chain is slack and being pulled from behind the links around the piling. (00:26:25)

Jaws (1975)

Revealing mistake: When Charlie and Denherder, the two fishermen, first wrap the link chain around the corner wood piling, the dock they stand on is clearly visible. A bit later when the shark takes their bait, the crossbeams at the base of the dock are actually gone for the stunt. (00:25:00 - 00:26:20)

Jaws (1975)

Revealing mistake: When Brody tries to hail the Coast Guard, just as Quint smashes the radio, the reflection in the center window is of the three windows on the opposite side of the cabin. Though the two side windows being reflected are normal, the entire center window being reflected is blacked out, reason being that the camera filming this shot is positioned in front of that window and in order not to see the outline of the camera, the center window directly behind it was covered. In the previous and following shots obviously there is nothing blocking that window. Similarly, this occurs when Quint speaks with the Coast Guard. (01:38:25)

Jaws (1975)

Visible crew/equipment: After Quint walks on deck and tosses the life vests to Hooper and Brody, Quint asks, "Hooper, what exactly can you do with these things of yours?" Just as Hooper turns around, the clear moving reflection of a boom mic and pole are visible on the glass of the door to the cabin, just behind him. (01:50:15)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: Hooper runs into the very thick black-smoke filled cabin to go below deck, but in the next interior shot the entire cabin is bright and there is hardly any smoke anywhere. (01:48:40)

Jaws (1975)

Continuity mistake: When Brody tries to hail the Coast Guard, Quint smashes the radio and the stove area beside them is visible. When the shark re-appears Quint heads for the stern, and the stove area, which is visible as he walks, is completely different. (01:38:25)

Visible crew/equipment: After Quint smashes up the radio, the shark re-appears. In the shot of Quint, as he walks along the side of the boat, the clear reflection of the filming crew's vessel is visible in the nearest window. (01:39:10)
