Continuity mistake: When Harry brings Dudley home, just before he opens the door Petunia asks, "Diddykins, is that you?" and the plant fronds (beside the door) block the bottom of the photograph behind it, but in the next close-up the fronds are lower so the photo is more visible.

Continuity mistake: When Hagrid and Slughorn are drinking after Aragog's funeral, Slughorn's cup is considerably larger than Hagrid's (an effort to show size difference between Slughorn and Hagrid), and note when Slughorn holds his cup how large it is compared to his hand. But after Hagrid passes out Slughorn's cup is now the same size as Hagrid's cup - Slughorn's hand is resting on the table right beside the cup, which is now significantly smaller compared to Slughorn's hand. Continuity mistake: When Harry and Dudley enter the tunnel, to Harry's left is the large graffitied name "Stark" and to Dudley's right is the graffitied name "Jim", which is directly opposite the "ta" in "Stark". When the Dementor holds Harry up by the throat Harry hangs well past "Stark", as the Dementor floats at an angle in front of "Stark". After the close-up of Harry's sneakers, in the wideshot, Dudley's silhouette (at the right, in the foreground) is off to Harry's left (viewer's right) staring to his left (precisely where Harry and the Dementor are positioned), which would put Dudley farther into the tunnel. But when it cuts to facing Dudley close-up, he's now standing in front of the "Jim" graffiti, which is off to Harry's right, closer to the entrance and he's still staring off to his left. (00:03:20)

Continuity mistake: At the playground, when Harry sits on the swing his long shadow is cast directly in front of him as he watches a boy and his mother by the round-a-bout, which is also directly in front of him. Problem is their shadows, which are considerably shorter than Harry's, are cast to Harry's left. (00:01:05)

Continuity mistake: When Van Pelt shoots the tire shelf in the store, the attached red wood triangle support is actually different between shots - note paint and dings. Furthermore, dirt marks on the tires appear, and two of the slotted heads of the screws, that are screwed into the anchor eye plate, are turned facing opposite directions (before it breaks). Continuity mistake: When Harry and Dudley reach the tunnel (out of the rain) Harry stands level with the "r" and "k" in the very large graffitied word "Stark", and Dudley is well past the large white graffiti to his right (viewer's left). The next shot, from the boys' POV, the empty tunnel is shown and on the left is the gratified word "Stark" and part of the white graffiti on the left, even though the two boys were actually just standing quite a bit farther into that tunnel. Continuity mistake: When the Dementor lifts Harry off the ground in the tunnel, Harry's feet dangle beside the very large graffitied word "Stark", and then falls to the ground past the word with his feet near the "k". After it cuts to the closeup of his wand, Harry is now lying beside the "S", even closer to the Dementor, though he is trying to back away from it and reach his wand behind him. (00:03:55)

Continuity mistake: When Moody, Harry, Tonks et al. stand in front of 12 Grimmauld Place, their positions change. Harry and Tonks stand very close to Moody in shots facing them, but shots facing Number 12 they stand much farther apart, and in Harry's close-ups Shacklebolt now stands directly behind him, though in back shots Kingsley is behind Moody, and about 4-5 ft away from Harry. Continuity mistake: After drinking the poison in Slughorn's office, Ron falls and in the overhead shots the top of his head is near the rug's edge, but in side shots his head is well below the large diamond pattern, more than a foot away from the edge.

Continuity mistake: In the Great Hall, from the time Hermione hits Ron with the book to when Harry (with bloody nose) joins them, the spoon in Hermione's bowl repeatedly faces the opposite way depending on the angle of the shot. (00:29:35)

Continuity mistake: As Sam is getting into the boat, in Lorien, you see Boromir's body (not head) on the right of the screen and Aragorn's body (not head) to the left. All three including Sam, are wearing the cloaks they received in the scene before. While Sam gets into the boat, the voice-over you hear in these few shots is Celeborn, who is actually talking to Aragorn on shore. Then in the next shot of Aragorn talking to Celeborn, Aragorn isn't wearing his cloak, as he's receiving the knife gift from Celeborn. The next problem is, while Merry and Pippin talk about Lembas, Boromir is in the background without his cloak. In the next shot when Sam gets into the boat, in the background we see Boromir's body with the cloak on again. Next we see Aragorn still talking to Celeborn on shore, in the background we see Boromir and he's not wearing the cloak yet again. The shots were obviously put together out of sequence, and none are flashback. (01:02:15 - 01:03:00)
