Continuity mistake: When Carmen and Juni arrive at the safe house, as they walk towards it the shadow on the front door keeps changing. That shadow should not change as the kids walk closer. (00:27:15)

Spy Kids (2001)

Continuity mistake: After Carmen and Juni board the Super Guppy boat/sub, the Thumb Thumbs break through the bookcase creating a mess at the secret entrance. When Carmen runs back out to retrieve the locator, in the shot facing Carmen's back as she crawls in the distance, the bookcase/door is intact. (00:22:30)

Spy Kids (2001)

Revealing mistake: When the CG Thumb Thumbs are seen the length and width of their "arms" and "legs" are distinct. However, when hidden beneath the black garments their arms and legs are much leaner and longer and the hands and feet of the stunt doubles are quite discernable under the black material. One such example is at the safehouse, when Juni peeks out through the door and spots the Thumb Thumbs down below. (00:13:50 - 00:39:30)

Continuity mistake: During the wedding of Ingirid and Gregorio, the flowers in Ingrid's hair change, from the time she knocks the head off the ice swan through the following shots. (00:04:35)

Spy Kids mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Ingrid and Gregorio are tied up at Floop's castle, the amount of rope wound round Ingrid differs from shot to shot. First there are seven strands, then six, then five - which is the first shot as the laser cuts, and all are not aligned straight. Then, in the last shot, as the laser still cuts through in the extreme close-up, there are six strands again which now lie perfectly! (00:29:30)

Continuity mistake: Ingrid and Gregorio toss their watches, passports, wallets, etc., onto the tray that a Thumb Thumb holds. The items' positions differ in consecutive shots. (00:26:30)

Spy Kids (2001)

Continuity mistake: The small screen on the Super Guppy boat/sub which reads, "manual override engaged," "calculating escape solution - dive" and then, "autopilot re-engaged," in close-ups, all reflect Juni's bandaged fingers directly in front of it, though for example, when the autopilot screen appears, Juni is upside down in the previous wide shot. Deliberate mistake: After Carmen rescues Juni on the boat/sub, he accidentally re-engages the autopilot and they submerge. In the next shot as two Thumb Thumbs jump off their speedboat, the name, 'Donzi', that is written across the side of the boat, is backwards. This shot is flipped. (00:24:10)

Spy Kids (2001)

Revealing mistake: When the Thumb Thumbs chase Carmen and Juni in the speedboats, one speedboat rams a small boat. In the first shot the back end of the small boat with the motor is demolished, yet in the second shot the boat is split cleaner and the back end with the motor is intact. (00:23:40)

Spy Kids (2001)

Revealing mistake: The boat carrying the film crew leaves a very large wake in the water ahead of Carmen and Juni's Super Guppy boat/sub, in the shot as Carmen yells, "But they're catching up!" while the four Thumb Thumb speedboats chase them. (00:23:10)

Continuity mistake: After Uncle Felix turns the dial to the secret chamber behind the bookcase, the position of safe door, books and other items differ in the shots facing the long hallway and the shots facing the bedroom. (00:21:15)

Spy Kids mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: When Gregorio slams on his brakes the car stops alongside the sidewalk, in front of the private school. In the next shot he calls out, "Juni, Juni!" as Juni stands by the open car door. First, a large boom mic and the reflector screen are wonderfully reflected in the car window, before he closes the door. Then when Juni closes the door, a car is reflected on the door, though it is impossible for it to be there since a gate, which is visible in the following shots, stands at the edge of the sidewalk on the car's left side. Some crew members, one of which is behind camera equipment and another holds the boom mic pole, are also reflected in Gregorio's door on the left. Then as Juni walks away, the boom mic moves back and forth in the reflection near Gregorio's face to pick up the actors' audio. (00:11:05)

Visible crew/equipment: After Ingrid types on the makeup atop her vanity table in the close-up, the crew's reflector screen, which is positioned in front of Carla Gugino (Ingrid), is visible in the mirror's reflection to her right (it isn't part of the spy information scrolling on the mirror), in the following seven shots. Visible crew/equipment: When Ingrid sits at the vanity table in the bedroom, in the shot just after Gregorio's screen reads, "Type password," but just before the close-up of Ingrid's fingers typing on her makeup, there is a lovely reflection of a crew member behind the camera, which is perfectly clear in the mirror to Ingrid's right. Continuity mistake: At the wedding, as Ingrid starts to nervously walk up the aisle, the people she passes on her left not only change position while they're still on her left side in three consecutive shots, in the next few shots quite a few guests actually change sides and/or are now nearer the groom. Spy Kids (2001)

Revealing mistake: When Ingrid knocks off the head of the ice swan, in the first shot she is about to hit the middle of the neck from the front, yet in the next close-up of her arm it hits much higher and from the side. It is also blatantly apparent that it is not Ingrid's arm taking out the ice head in the close-up. (00:04:35)

Spy Kids (2001)

Revealing mistake: As Ingrid tells the tale of the two spies to Carmen and Juni, in the story when Ingrid follows Gregorio up in the elevator, her coat is red including under the collar and lapels, with about 6-8 inches of red on the interior along the span of the edges, the rest being a black interior. After she removes her wig, to disguise herself even further she then turns her coat inside-out, with the same characteristics in the opposing color. Obviously in reality there are two coats, as this is impossible to achieve when simply turning the coat inside-out. (00:03:20)

Continuity mistake: At Ingrid and Gregorio's wedding, when they escape after they hold hands, in the close-up the parachute leg straps are not around Igrid's thighs, they are dangling at her back as they run to leap off the cliff, whereas Gregorio's are set right. Yet in the next wide shot, as they jump, the straps are secured around both of her thighs. (00:06:00)
