Visible crew/equipment: In the three shots facing Lockhart as he continues to say, "It is my job to arm you against the foulest creatures known to wizardkind... Know only that no harm can befall you whilst I am here," there is a WIRE attached at the bottom left of the cloth that lies on the pixie's cage. However in the close-up of the cage, as Lockhart removes the cloth, the bottom of the cloth is clearly visible and the wire is gone. (00:35:55)

Continuity mistake: The stripes on the knot of Harry's tie change position between certain shots, yet Harry does not redo his tie. For example, the diagonal red stripe is higher when he first speaks with Tom Riddle and lower when he kills Riddle and thanks Fawkes. (02:11:20 - 02:16:15)

Audio problem: When Tom Riddle confronts young Hagrid, the first time Riddle says, "Now, stand aside," Hagrid yells, "No!" but Hagrid's lips don't move. (01:32:25)

Audio problem: Riddle tells young Hagrid in the close-up, "They'll have your wand for this Hagrid. You'll be expelled." In the following side shot Riddle's mouth still moves as Hagrid puts his head down and though no words are heard his lips move as if repeating "You'll be expelled." It is not until the next shot of Harry as he yells, "Hagrid!" that the memory just begins to end as Harry moves back to the present. (01:32:50)

Revealing mistake: As Harry climbs the Salazar Slytherine stone head's locks of hair, the Basilisk crashes his face and creates the first immense hole. As Harry tries to climb higher, it pounds into the stone again creating another huge hole, higher up on another lock of hair, to Harry's left as he hangs on. However, when the Basilisk smashes his face into the stone a third time, as Harry nears the top, the second huge hole is GONE, in this shot and in the first wide shot in which Tom Riddle is visible. Audio problem: In the Chamber of Secrets, Riddle says, "You'll find I can be very persuasive." In the next shot facing Harry, the side of Riddle's face is visible and he is obviously speaking before we hear these words, "Not that she knew what she was doing." (02:05:55)

Continuity mistake: Harry pulls the sword out from the Basilisk's mouth, clutches at his right arm and the sword he holds has blood only at the tip. In the very next shot, as he clutches the tooth in his right arm, sword still in hand, there is now plenty of blood on the blade. (02:13:50)

Continuity mistake: When Harry says, "Tom. Tom Riddle," the shot faces Harry and Ginny, and Ginny's foot is parallel to the ground. In the next shot facing Riddle, Ginny's foot is perpendicular to the ground. When Harry asks, "Are you a ghost?" Ginny's foot is parallel. When Riddle says, "As poor Ginny grows weaker...," her foot is perpendicular to the ground once more and so forth. (02:04:50)

Continuity mistake: Tom Riddle says, "She won't wake" and walks toward Harry. When Harry says "Tom. Tom Riddle," the shot faces Harry and Ginny, and Harry's wand is lying on the open ground below the sole of Ginny's shoe. When Harry asks "Are you a ghost?" as the camera pans closer to Harry, his wand is conspicuously in a different place now, it is lying partially hidden under Ginny's robe above her right foot, right next to Harry. In the next shot after Riddle says, "A memory. Preserved...," the wand is gone from the previous shot's position. (Visible on DVD fullscreen.) (02:04:50)

Continuity mistake: When the Basilisk emerges from the water, in the first shot Harry looks at the Sorting Hat and Gryffindor's sword appears. As Harry gets the sword, in the second shot the Sorting Hat is not only positioned differently it is also lying on another part of the 'stone' floor. (02:12:30)

Continuity mistake: When Harry walks over to the clock at the Burrow, in the wide shot, the hands are all pointing in a particular direction, then in the close-up, some of those hands change their position. However in the next wide shot, as Harry walks away, all of the hands are pointing in the same direction as in the previous wide shot. (00:11:05)

Continuity mistake: In several distinctive shots the Whomping Willow severely dents the hood of the car, however the damage to the hood drastically changes in different shots, including during the spider escape. (00:27:10 - 01:48:00)

Continuity mistake: In the Whomping Willow, the trunk of the car recieves a noticeable gash just above the lock on the trunk as well as a huge dent in the trunk. However just before the trunk pops open to eject Harry and Ron's belongings, it is blatantly apparent that it is not the same car trunk. The gash and dent are both gone, the Ford Anglia nameplate on the right side is gone, the lock is different, the area under the bent fender is different, etc. After the spider escape, though the nameplate is back, the dent and gash are still gone. Continuity mistake: In the Whomping Willow, the car door on Harry's side recieves a large ripped gash through the metal, along with other assorted gashes alongside it, as is visible when it opens to throw Harry out. Later, when Ron and Harry escape from the spiders, the metal's ripped gash and other dents/gashes (although the initial damage can get worse in the Dark Forest, it cannot change positions) on Harry's door or elsewhere are not only very different than the earlier shots, they are also different within the consecutive shots of this scene. Continuity mistake: As Aragog approaches Harry and Ron, Harry says, "Were friends of Hagrid's," and Harry carries the lantern palm side up, at his hip. Yet in the next shot, it's palm side down and the lantern handle is at his shoulder. In the next shot, though it's still at his shoulder it's palm side up now. Then in the two shots facing Aragog, the lantern is down low, but in between those two shots, in the shot facing Harry, his elbow is bent, the lantern is higher up and Fang stands further away. Continuity mistake: While Harry looks through the seemingly empty diary, in the first overhead shot, the quill lies semi diagonally on the table at the top right corner of the diary. In the next shot it lies right next to Harry's right hand. (01:27:20)

Continuity mistake: In Hagrid's home, when Lucius Malfoy holds out the order of suspension for Dumbledore to take, in the shot facing Malfoy the stiff ribbon ends point in his direction, yet, when the next shot faces Dumbledore, the ribbon ends now point towards Dumbledore. (01:40:15)

Visible crew/equipment: After Lee announces, "Harry Potter has caught the Snitch. Gryffindor wins!" there is a shot of the falling Bludger. In the next two close-ups of Harry as he avoids the Bludger and looks up, multiple head studio lighting, used to mimic daylight on his features, is very clearly reflected in BOTH lenses of his glasses. In the opening shot of the ongoing Quidditch match, the entire pitch is visible and it is void of any lights. (00:57:30)

Continuity mistake: Throughout the film, one of the young actors may have one or more pimples on their face, yet in the following shots which may take place only moments later, the pimples are gone, or visa versa. For example, when Hagrid joins Harry, Hermione and Ron outside when he overhears, "Mad and hairy...," Harry has one on his cheek. Neville tells them to rush to Harry's room. While Harry, whose own pimple has disappeared, searches the mess, the one on Ron's chin is visible, though it wasn't in the shot outside. Scenes are shot out of sequence, hence the erratic complexion continuity problem. (01:33:50 - 01:35:00)
