Continuity mistake: During CoMC class, after Hagrid coughs, says, "Ta da!" and gestures toward Buckbeak, there is a shot of the students and Hermione's Monster Book of Monsters lies open on the huge rock. In the next close-up of Hermione, her book is closed and partially buckled. When Ron asks, "Hagrid...what is that?" her book lies open again. Books lying near Hermione's change in consecutive shots as well, including the one held by the girl beside Neville. (00:33:20)

Continuity mistake: On the Hogwarts Express, Lupin pulls out his wand to repel the Dementor attacking Harry. In the shot facing Lupin his shirt sleeve is mostly covered by his suit sleeve and he holds the wand a particular way. In the next close-up facing the Dementor, Lupin's arm is visible and a much greater area of his shirt sleeve is now seen and he holds the wand completely differently. (00:22:15)

Continuity mistake: As Marge is inflating, there is a close-up of her knees, as the skirt rises revealing the garters. In this close-up her cloth napkin is on the table right in front of her, though in the previous and following shots it is on the floor. (00:04:45)

Continuity mistake: In the first shot at dinner, when Marge says, "Finish that off for Mommy...Rippy-pooh." she places her plate down on the carpet for Ripper. Continuity mistake: Before Hagrid's lesson begins, Malfoy yells, "Dementor! Dementor!" and they all spin around. Ron and Hermione stand beside one another in the first and third shots, yet in the middle shot facing Malfoy, they're a good distance apart. As a matter of fact, in most shots throughout this entire scene many of the students' positions and actions change and/or shift back and forth in consecutive shots, some quite drastically. Continuity mistake: At the Leaky Cauldron, after Harry takes off his sneaker, to distract the Monster Book of Monsters, he stands at the edge of the bed. In the wide shot, the very long ends of the shoelace dangle over his fingers at his knuckles, yet, in the next close-up, it's now the short ends that are held tightly in his fist, the opposite way. Continuity mistake: When Harry boards the Knight Bus in the exterior shot, the curtain in the small window at the stairs is pushed open towards the outside of the bus. However, in the next interior shot the curtain is pushed open towards the inside of the bus. (00:09:00)

Continuity mistake: The cart with the TV changes its position in various shots. For example, in the close-up of Marge's legs lifting off the ground and when Marge floats out the door in the exterior shot, the cart is aligned with the doorway, then at other times it is at the inner edge of the draperies or in between. Continuity mistake: The large hutch behind Vernon actually moves over to the left, closer to the lamp, during the dinner with Marge. At the start of the dinner scene, the chair beside the hutch, behind Vernon, is at least two feet away from the small table, which holds the lamp. Continuity mistake: The wagon, which is full of explosives, is on fire, so Mulan cuts Kahn (the horse) free with her sword and jumps onto Khan. She starts to ride away, while she holds the reins in her left hand and the sword with her right hand, up in the air. The wagon explodes and in the next shot, she still holds the reins in her left hand, though the sword, still in midair in her right hand, is now actually in its sheath, which is always attached to the left side of her belt. Some arrows are missing on the ground as well. Then her sheathed sword lands on the ground beside her. (00:53:45)

Continuity mistake: As Harry quickly flies off on his Firebolt, in the wide shot when he rounds the fountain, Percy, Ron and Hermione stand in front of Fred, George and Neville. However, in the next back shot Fred, George and Neville stand in front of Percy. (02:09:20)

Continuity mistake: After saying goodbye to Harry, Sirius climbs onto Buckbeak and Hermione hands the chain to Sirius. In the next shot Sirius holds the chain differently. (02:04:15)

Continuity mistake: After Harry arrives at the Leaky Cauldron, Tom brings him to meet with Fudge. When Tom leads Harry to the chair in the wide shot, it is at a diagonal, but in the next close-up it faces the table head on. It changes in following shots as well. Visible crew/equipment: When Harry and Hermione are at Hagrid's to rescue Buckbeak, Harry walks toward the hippogriff and bows. In the next shot, when his head is down low, look directly in between the right edge of the screen and the wood post, above the pumpkins. A pair of black pants quickly pass to the left; it's certainly not one of the crows, unless it grew human legs. (Only visible in widescreen.) (01:53:00)

Continuity mistake: In the hospital wing, when Hermione says, "Sorry Ron, but seeing as you can't walk," the camera pans around her and Harry. Before she turns the timeturner, the bed that Harry was lying in is visible and the blankets which were folded neatly in the previous shots are now off and very messy, and the positions of the tall blue screen and chair near the bed are also completely different. Later, when they return, the bed is perfectly neat and the chair is pushed back again. (01:47:10)
