Factual error: Tom Hanks walks by a German cinema that is showing the movie One Two Three, a Billy Wilder flick about the cold war and the Berlin wall. Though a nice homage to the movie director, that movie was released August 1961, a year later than the time period of this movie.

Continuity mistake: After discovering he is stranded and injured, Watney walks inside the hab and takes off his helmet and hood. His hairstyle changes three times between shots in a matter of seconds.

Audio problem: When Langdon and the Swiss guard are in the file room out of oxygen, the guard presses the oxygen control screen nervously, and a "clac" sound is heard. The shot changes and he stops pressing the button, yet the previous clac-clac-clac is heard for a couple seconds.
