Continuity mistake: After Superman saves the train from derailing, there's a wide shot of the lead locomotive and it has just one small window on the side. In the immediate close-up there's a big window where the conductor peeps, and a sudden second window with a handle bar where another engineer shows up.

Continuity mistake: When ET gets beer from the fridge, he tosses food at the dog. The dog is always close to the fridge, by the oven, except for the shots where he is tossed the potato salad, where he is several meters behind, on a rug by the cupboards. This change of position swaps back and forth.

Revealing mistake: When ET is grabbing things from the fridge, in the close-up his fingers swap from thin and long to chubby and short, obviously a puppeteer's glove.

Continuity mistake: When the woman is about to be sucked by the void and fiercely grabs Boris' wrist, the wide and close-up angles show her using her left arm, however in several close-ups it's the right arm shown, as noted by position of her thumb, style of the bracelet (from grey rubber to black with diamonds), and a ring appearing/ disappearing. Continuity mistake: When Elliot shows up the morning after Halloween her mum hugs him and gets dark paint on her cheek. When the angle changes the stain vanishes.

Suggested correction: Mary doesn't get "dark paint" on her cheek when she hugs Elliot. When Mary's standing at the fridge door speaking to the police officer, she's still wearing her Halloween dress and the mark on her right cheek is the black heart (part of her Halloween makeup). This mark is still visible on her cheek in the wide shot (viewed on Blu-ray) when she tells Elliot she's sorry that she yelled at him, and sits Elliott down on the kitchen seat.

Continuity mistake: When the final bike chase starts, the kid with the blue ski mask who cries "We made it!" changes positions 3 times in less than 2 seconds: 1) To the left of a kid with a red hat, both behind the one with a cap. 2) To the right of the one with a cap, riding parallel to him. 3) Behind everyone, completely alone.

Continuity mistake: At the Apollo rocket launch platform, J calls Boris the Animal twice, who lifts J up and launches him away. J glances at K, who's got both arms stretched out trying to save himself. A shot later, in the close-up, only his right arm is stretched out. (01:28:40)
