Sex and the City

Sex and the city - S1-E1

Revealing mistake: When Carrie bumps into Mr. Big and her purse falls, watch the people in the background carefully. Many of them are watching the couple talk and interact with each other. On a busy New York street nobody is going to pay attention to two people having a conversation. Apparently all these people were watching the shooting of the scene.

Cover girl - S5-E4

Revealing mistake: When Samantha walks in on Marcus 'servicing' Stanford, the positioning is all wrong. Marcus' head is too high up to be realistic for what is happening. His head is almost up to the level of Stanford's chest. (00:21:20)

Plus one is the loneliest number - S5-E5

Revealing mistake: The scene where Charlotte is shown sleeping with her new 'plus one' to the next morning was all filmed in entirely one sequence, real time, without any editing. Therefore, Charlotte had to change really quickly into her lingerie, and get into position for the morning shot in a very short period of time. As the camera pans away from Charlotte taking off her clothes at night, there is a mirror on the wall behind her. If you look closely at the mirror, Charlotte appears to fall over quickly, and then suddenly roll/move to the right side and get off of the bed, as if to change into her morning outfit. (00:13:05)

Cover girl - S5-E4

Revealing mistake: When Samantha is walking down a busy NYC street talking on her cell to Carrie, you can see a man in a blue jacket walking right behind her. The next shot of him; he suddenly pulls out an obvious black camera and takes a photo, aiming it directly at Samantha in front of him. This is apparently not an 'extra', but someone on the street who wanted to take a picture of Kim. There are also a lot of other people in the background walking behind her at this point. But in the next shot of Samantha still walking on the same street and talking on the phone, there are suddenly no people right behind her at all. It's an empty space, and no time has passed for them to have dispersed. They may have cleared the area behind her; because people weren't behaving properly during filming, such as the man taking her picture. This would normally be a continuity error; except that in this case I believe the sudden change in background was due to the guy taking the picture inappropriately, not just a slip in background filming. Suggested correction: She doesn't have her usual skinny figure, but in no way does she show an evident pregnant belly.

Ring a ding ding - S4-E16

Revealing mistake: When Charlotte is putting her diamond ring on in her apartment, there is a close-up shot of it. It is a large, circular diamond on a simple golden band. This is not the same diamond engagement ring she has been wearing previously in the series. That ring had two parallel silver bands, and the diamond looked slightly different. (00:10:10)

Anchors away - S5-E1

Revealing mistake: During the scene when the girls are walking down the street, 'strutting' fully dressed up on their way to the Navy party, look behind them in the distance. There appears to be a great crowd of people gathered behind what might be a barrier. These look like people just watching the filming. This is more clear at the very beginning of the scene, when the girls first begin walking down the street. Also, in the TBS web site in the episode guide, there is a photo of this very same scene shot from a different side angle. You can see a definite barrier on the sidewalk to the left, filled with onlookers who are watching the filming. Thus, it's possible that the people in the rear visible in the show, are the same. I love a charade - S5-E8

Revealing mistake: When Carrie and Berger are talking on the grass, Berger suddenly gets up to leave. He grabs his jacket which Carrie is sitting on, knocking her over. As she falls back, you can see her quickly pull the front of her shirt over herself to make sure it covers her pregnant belly. Also, as Carrie starts to get up, there is a point where her shirt falls forward, and you can see Sarah Jessica Parker's pregnant bulge from the side. (00:18:35)

Critical condition - S5-E6

Revealing mistake: When Carrie is watching TV in her apartment, she uses the remote to click off the TV after SNL is over. There is a close-up of the TV screen, reflecting the room in front of it. You can see a round table with a lot of stuff on it, the windows/curtains and desk, and what appears to be a square ottoman of some kind. But Carrie is nowhere in sight, there is just a blank wall reflected where her image should have been. She is directly facing her TV, as shown from the angle of her perspective as she clicks it off. We should be able to see her somewhere within the television reflection, but she isn't there. (00:20:10)

I heart ny - S4-E18

Revealing mistake: At the end of this episode when Carrie is walking away from Mr. Big's apartment; she notices an Autumn leaf, and follows it with her eyes as it floats down to the ground. However, this leaf is actually digital and not real. Sarah Jessica Parker had to pretend to be staring at a leaf that wasn't there while filming; and if you watch her gaze carefully, it doesn't always follow the path of the leaf. She looks down too soon, before the leaf has a chance to float down that far. (00:29:40)

Cock-a-doodle-do - S3-E18

Revealing mistake: When the transvestite is throwing eggs at Samantha's window, she is holding the cardboard egg container in her left hand. She keeps throwing eggs, but you can tell by the way she is holding the egg container that it is really empty. It flops down vertically from her hand, and there is no way eggs would be able to remain in the egg crate by holding it in that manner.

Ring a ding ding - S4-E16

Revealing mistake: When Samantha is surprised at Richard's apartment by his assistant, she quickly throws her towel around herself to cover up. But the towel rides up too far, and you can see that Kim Cattrall is wearing tan or nude colored underwear. Soon after that, Samantha makes a comment to the assistant that implies she was nude under the towel. So the panties were probably for the benefit of the actress, to protect her modesty below the waist. (00:21:40)

What goes around comes around - S3-E17

Revealing mistake: When the gardener hands Charlotte the rose, he is supposedly picking it out of some rose bushes he is in the process of planting. He even makes a motion as if 'picking' it from the bunch. But when he hands the single long stem rose to Charlotte; it's obvious that this rose has already been cut, and is missing the lower leaves. Samantha: There isn't enough wall space in New York City to hang all of my exes. Let me tell you, a lot of them were hung.

Twenty-something girls vs. thirty-something women - S2-E17

Question: I have a somewhat odd question for everyone that watches Sex and the city. I got into the show about 2 or 3 years after it started running but I remember watching the episode "Twenty-Something Girls vs. Thirty-Something Women" which was the episode about Carrie and the girls going to the Hamptons and renting a house. Charlotte dates a younger guy that gives her crabs. There is commentary about comparing 20 year girls to 30 year old women and when I watched this episode originally I swear there was a different ending then what is what is shown now. I want to know if anyone else has seen this or am I absolutely insane. In the episode there is a girl that pukes on the beach - her friend holds her hair back and Carrie makes a commentary about "counting on 20 year old girls to hold your hair back." Later when Carrie sees Big with Natasha she runs to the beach and Miranda runs after her. Carrie throws up because she is upset and Miranda holds her hair back, but the version I saw changes the commentary/narration and says that you can "always count on a 30 something year old friend to hold your hair back." I haven't seen that version again. Has anyone else seen it or did I just dream this, because I swear I remember watching this when it first came out?

Weeny Post

Answer: I'm a long-time fan of the show, having re-watched it many times, and I definitely remember slightly different dialogue at the end of that episode than what's on my DVD. I'm afraid I have no idea why this change might have been made or any other info, but you're not insane.
