Question: Looking for the name of a British comedy film that starts with a woman going to jail for murder. In jail she has a girl child which is removed and raised elsewhere. Plot starts when woman shows up at her 30's something daughters home. Bothersome barking dogs disappear, bothersome neighbors disappear, the woman is really psycho.

Chosen answer: The film is "Keeping Mum" with Maggie Smith as the Psychomom and Kristin Scott-Thomas as her daughter.

Question: There's a scene I watched from a movie a few years ago where a blue-haired girl or woman is running down a narrow hallway that's quickly flooding up. She opens a door, keeps running, and then there's a man running behind her, and she shuts the next door and locks it before he can reach it, as the water slowly fills up. They watch each other through the door as the water fills up on his side. It was on television, it could have been a sci-fi thing, I don't really know. I'm assuming it's either from early 2000's or the 90's.

public enemy

Chosen answer: I believe you may be describing the last episode of the first season of Alias entitled 'Almost 30 Years'.

Question: The film I'm looking for is a Disney movie that I think went straight to video in the 90s. It is an animated film about a gas station that floats in the sky. I don't remember which characters where in it, but I think they were well known Disney characters. I would be very grateful for any information. Thanks.

FilmJunkie

Chosen answer: Sounds like "Tail Spin" a series that aired on the Disney Channel in the 90's. It had charactes Baloo and Louie from the Jungle Book.

MasterOfAll

Question: I watched this movie some time in '08 on the cbbc channel, when I was in Scotland. It's about two boys and a girl who have a trolley and somehow go back in time to wartime Britain. They meet one of the boys' (I think his name is Johnny) grandmother. Somehow they stop the air raid signal from going off on time (I think they were chatting with the guy who was supposed to turn on the alarm) and the grandmother is killed. When they return to the present time nobody knows who the boy is. There is a weird dude who owns a burger place and apparently invented the burger (I think he was one of the kids who stayed back in time and told everybody about the burger). They return back in time to put things right, wearing costumes from the 'Sound of Music' to blend in, and change the events so when they return everybody knows who the boy (Johnny) is. I think it ends with them wearing their mucky costumes and the theatre producer having a row at them. This is a British film. If anyone knows the title that would be great.

msmall724

Chosen answer: It's "Johnny And The Bomb" - http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0498319.

Madstunts

Question: I just saw a clip of an old black and white movie in which a car pulls up to a gas station and the passenger is an alien. He argues with the station attendant and the driver, shoots them both with light and they both turn into skeletons. There was no audio with the clip, so I really have no idea where this is from.

Chosen answer: It's "Teenagers from Outer Space."

Question: When I was little I saw this movie that I can't find anywhere. It was a family movie, and it looked like it was filmed in the early 1990's. I only remember bits of it. I'm not entirely sure if this part was even in the movie, or possibly a different movie. The main character, maybe 9, liked this girl and didn't tell anyone and had a dream these bullies were surrounding him saying, "Truth or die!" or something like that over and over again. Later in the movie, these two other kids were walking down the street before a go-kart race around the town. In the street, there were arrows showing where the go-karts had to go, and one of the kids turned the sign the opposite direction so the arrow was facing the wrong way. Later, during the race, the kids in the go-karts followed the arrow the kid changed and drove past a supermarket and ran over some ladies. The main character won the race and did this weird thing with his ears where he wiggled them without using his hands.

Chosen answer: The Little Rascals.

JC Fernandez

Question: There was this horror film I just saw on TV and I don't remember what it was called. A few parts of the movie stood out to me. One scene, this lady is crawling through some air vents in an abandoned hospital and she sees her mom's corpse who always abused her. The corpse suddenly comes alive and starts strangling the lady. There was this guy and when he died, a ball came out of his mouth that resembled a Dragonball Z ball. At an orphanage, there was this girl who rarely talked. Another girl at the orphanage beat up the little girl, and at one point the quiet little girl says that the girl that beat her up gave her candy. The candy was the ball that came out of the man's mouth. The final scene of the movie was this man's doorbell rang, he looked through the eyehole in the door to see who it was, and knife stabbed him in the eye.

Chosen answer: The answer is One Missed Call (2008).

Question: A question about a movie: there are twin brothers, a car accident, and the wife does not know which brother is her husband. I would like to know the name of the movie. Thank you.

Chosen answer: There are five TV movies with an evil twin. Brotherly Love (1985) with Judd Hirsch. Natural Selection (1994) with C. Thomas Howell. Mr. Murder with Stephen Baldwin. Actually the last two are about clones. Echo (1997) with Jack Wagner and Alone with a Stranger with William R. Moses.

Question: I saw part of this movie on TV about a year ago and I can't find it anymore. Set in the future, these scientists had an alien that was red headed and looked like a human in a glass container. She escaped it and climbed out of a window. She was very high up, she jumped off, and she landed on a flying taxi cab that I think was being driven by Adam Sandler. She didn't speak English, but saw a sign that said "Please Help" so she said "Please help" in poor English to the taxi driver. He was then chased by the cops in flying police cars, and when he and the alien escaped, he brought the alien to his house. That's all I remember of it. I don't remember the year it was made, but judging by the special effects it had to be made sometime this decade or maybe late 90's.

Chosen answer: The movie is The Fifth Element and it stars Bruce Willis and Mila Jovovich.

Shannon Jackson

Question: I can only remember one scene from a movie. People are fleeing to get onto airplanes when it shows a man and a woman. The man says that everything unnecessary must be left behind to make room - there's a pile of purses, books etc. The woman asks if she can take a picture of her parents, and the man agrees. Then there's a shot of people in the airplane watching something blow up on the earth below. For some reason I mentally associate this with Power Rangers, but that might not mean anything.

Chosen answer: It's been a long time since I've seen it but it could be The Langoliers.

Question: Why do a lot of new movies/TV shows have exclusive content that is only on the Blu Ray disc versions? Don't the movie creators still make money if you choose to buy the DVD?

Chosen answer: One possible factor is that BluRay discs and player have certain capabilities that regular DVD players do not. In some cases, these additional extras are designed to take advantage of those features and thus they cannot be put on the regular DVD. Another key point is that BluRay discs can currently be sold for a higher price, while not costing substantially more to make than regular DVDs, resulting in greater profits, and therefore it's in the interests of the studios to tempt more people into making the switch to the more profitable format. Having BluRay-exclusive features is one way of doing that.

Question: The only scene my sister and I remember (from what we think was a film) shows a girl walking through the woods. There's a pond, with (I think) lots of water lilies floating on it. A small submarine rises from the pond, and the girl gets in, then it submerges in the pond, which although small from the outside is extremely deep under the surface. No one else remembers this film and we think we may have made it up, but it is very vivid in our memories. I think it was dubbed, as it may have been Dutch or something, and probably made in the early 70s perhaps. We've been trying to remember for years. Please help us, thanks.

Chosen answer: I know it! It is a Belgian children's show called "Carolientje heeft een bootje" (Caroline has a little boat) Or something like that. I think it was from the Belgian BRT network. You didn't imagine it, I saw it lots of times!

Question: I am looking for the title of a movie in which a guy goes around killing people and takes a piece of them (arm, leg, head, etc). Eventually the police find out where he's been hiding and why he was taking the body parts (at the home of the first murder, and to "recreate" the body Jesus). Thanks for the help.

DarkNITE

Chosen answer: The film is called "Resurrection" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0142804/.

Question: I am looking for a documentary about volcanoes that was made no later than 1997. I thought it was by National Geographic but I can't find it on their website (I have watched their film Volcano: Nature's Inferno, and it is not the one I'm looking for). All I can remember about this film is that it included the song "Hot hot hot", possibly as the opening music, and at least part of the movie was about volcanologists Maurice and Katia Kraft. It talks about how they eventually died in a volcanic eruption (ironic, I know). Can anyone tell me the title of this documentary?

Aerinah

Chosen answer: The only other documentary for which the Kraffts are credited on the IMDb is Nature: The Volcano Watchers which was made in 1987. Unfortunately this is before their death in 1991, which is an issue if the documentary discussed their deaths, although wouldn't be unusual for an updated edition to have been shown later with the additional information. Hope that's of some use. May not be the right one, but could be interesting anyway...

Question: I would like to know the title of a movie, probably from the 70s or early 80s, in which a car crashes into a tanker truck and becomes covered in a molten cheese-like substance. There may also have been a scene with a room full of balloons. Thanks for the help.

Chosen answer: It's called Murder Can Hurt You. A TV movie spoof of TV detectives. All star cast of TV actors from the 70's.

Question: Would like to know the title of a comedy, probably from the 90s or early 00s, in which a cop asks for a blond Asian woman. Thanks for any help.

Chosen answer: Sounds like it MAY be Senior Trip from 1995, in which one of the students fantasizes about his ideal woman, who he says is a blonde Asian. He's not a cop, though. He eventually meets a blonde Asian woman in a hotel elevator.

Question: I've seen a movie if I remember right it was in the late 90's, very strange, all I can remember is that a woman is getting a pizza delivered and she starts hallucinating or something, the pizza starts talking and she goes crazy putting it in the sink grinder, dark ambiance, I was younger and it scared the crap out of me.

Vip3re

Chosen answer: This is a film called House IV.

Question: I don't remember much about this movie, but in one scene there is a group of about four people who enter a building and talk to some guy, who then opens a trapdoor under them. The people fall onto some roller coaster, which dumps them onto a conveyor belt, that feeds them into a machine that grinds them up and spits out their bones. I think the protagonist may later enter the machine himself and somehow escape it. There also may be a scene later in the movie with a lot of fire, but I don't know for sure. Can anyone help me with the title of this movie?

conquer987

Chosen answer: Nothing But Trouble. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102558/

Grumpy Scot

Question: I only saw a few minutes of this movie on TV once. It's probably in the sci-fi genre. There was a high school or college-age boy with very white skin and red lips, and I think he was bald. I saw a scene where he was in a classroom and the other students started making fun of him. Thanks if you can make a guess.

Chosen answer: I think the movie you are thinking of is Powder with Sean Patrick Flanery. His mother had been hit by lightning while on the way to the hospital to give birth. This resulted in him having abnormal powers and the pale skin and bald head.

Shannon Jackson

Question: I remember watching a movie on TV in the 50's or 60's, I think it was in black and white. There was a young woman throughout the movie keeps in a sing-song manner mumbling what seems to be gibberish rhyming. But it turns out she is giving clues such as something like 'on door knob is, in drawer key is'. Hopefully someone knows the name of this movie?

kathy21230

Chosen answer: It's from the 1945 b/w film "Murder, He Says," starring Fred MacMurray. The character Elany Fleagle (played by Jean Heather) goes throughout the movie singing what appears to be a non-sense song. The words she sings are: Ohors Flisis Incombeesis - onches nobis inob keesis; a song taugh to her by her Grandma. As it turns out the lyrics to the song are actually clues to where money is hidden. The actual meaning of the words are: On horses there are flies, in combs there are bees, on a chest there is a knob, in the knob there is a key. In the Grandmother's room they find a chest with a honeycomb pattern, and in one of the knobs, there is a key. They find the key and there is a tag with the name of a local bank where the money can be found in a safe deposit box.
