Trivia: Other supers from the movie that mimic comic book heroes (disregarding gender): Psycwave is Professor X, Phylange is Banshee, Blazestone is Pyro, Thunderhead is Storm, Gazerbeam is Cyclops, Apogee is Sunspot, and Gamma Jack is Ultraverse's Atom Bob. Jack-Jack also briefly manifests the powers of the Human Torch and the Incredible Hulk and the board that Frozone uses near the end is reminiscent of the Silver Surfer.

Revealing mistake: Early in the final fight, Vi makes a flying kick to knock an Ubervamp off the cliff. As she lands, she swings back and twists slightly, suspiciously like one would do if suspended on a wire. There is no way she could gain this motion by kicking straight off the vamp as shown. Question: Obviously there's some background on the Sith Lords that isn't explained in the movie. There is the implication that they ruled before the Republic was established. Is there more to this backstory?
Chosen answer: The best place for this is the official Star Wars Databank: http://www.starwars.com/databank/organization/thesith/index.html. There's also a lot of information in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sith.

Wild Wild West (1999)
Factual error: West and Gordon are outfitted with massively powerful magnetic collars. Somehow the two collars don't interact with each other at all until they try to remove them, when they prove able to attract each other from at least 20 meters. Gordon rationalizes this by saying that they accidentally reversed one magnet's polarity, but if this were so then the magnets should have originally opposed each other with the same force, instantly throwing each other apart as soon as they were brought within meters of each other. Nonsensical.

Dark Angel (2000)
Plot hole: Darius is fooled by Max's life size shadow walking on the projection screen into believing she is actually there. There must be a projector focused on the screen centered in the room to project on the flat surface without distortion, either in the small room behind Darius or hanging from the ceiling. If it was in the small room, Darius' shadow would appear on the screen as he was standing in the middle of the room, and Max's ruse wouldn't work because she would be behind Darius and projecting a much larger shadow. If the projector was on the ceiling, there is no way Max's shadow could walk so nonchalantly onscreen. - she'd have to be suspended just to show up on it. Either way, it would be impossible to create a life size shadow as shown here without standing between Darius and the screen. (00:37:15)

Continuity mistake: As Harrigan is walking away from King Willie in the alley, Willie turns toward him to say, "Prepare yourself." His face is well-lit. In the next shot, Willie is facing away in the background and his head is entirely in shadow. He's turned and lit again for his next line. (00:47:00)
9th Oct 2004
Predator 2 (1990)
Continuity mistake: At the very end, as Harrigan says his last line, he lifts the pistol over his shoulder in his right hand. Cut to the helicopter taking off and both his hands are lowered, with the pistol in his left. (01:41:05)
9th Oct 2004
Predator 2 (1990)
Continuity mistake: The threatened businessman on the train swings his gun all the way to the right, past the pole. The camera switches to his POV as he swings back, but he doesn't pass the pole again. (00:54:35)

Continuity mistake: When the Predator finally collapses at the end, Harrigan rises out of the mist on the ground twice. (01:35:15)
9th Oct 2004
Predator 2 (1990)
Continuity mistake: At the penthouse, the Predator stabs a Jamaican with the spear and turns as another man steps out from behind a column. It switches to the Predator's POV and the man does the exact same thing again. (00:25:25)
Suggested correction: This isn't a mistake. This is simply showing both perspectives one after the other. It is quite common to see films do this. Another thing could be that the Predator is simply circling him, forcing him to continually turn.
8th Oct 2004
Predator (1987)
Other mistake: When the Predator sees Billy on the log bridge, there is a cold blotch in the middle of Billy's chest. He's not wearing anything that would make such a hole in his heat signature - it should be the same color as the rest of his torso. It doesn't even match up with the cut he made across his chest; the cut starts much higher than the blotch and the blotch is irregularly shaped, not indicating the smooth line of a cut. (01:15:20)
Suggested correction: The cold area is the blood running from his wound. It is cooling down on contract with the air.
8th Oct 2004
Predator (1987)
Continuity mistake: In the shot where Mac finally runs out of minigun ammo, the barrels stop turning. However, the whirring continues and the barrels are still turning in later shots. He didn't let go and pull the trigger again because the whirring was continuous. (00:48:25)
8th Oct 2004
Predator (1987)
Continuity mistake: The first time Anna tries to escape she is stopped by Poncho. He confronts Dillon and tells him to put her on a leash, then raises his gun. Cut to Anna and he raises the gun again. (00:37:30)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
C.R.E.A.M. - S1-E5
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode, Logan hands Max a stack of Alina's photos including a filmstrip longer than the other photos. The strip switches from poking out the left side to poking out the right when Max says, "It's so depressing," then jumps from buried in the stack to the bottom position. (00:02:50)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Factual error: Max breaks into the hospital dispensary by shoving a knife into the gap between the jamb and the door itself, which forces the curved latch tongue back into the mechanism and allows her to open the door. However, she opens the door outward. The curve of the latch tongue always faces inward, the way the door swings, and there is no way Max could hit this to open the door with a straight thrust as shown. (00:12:20)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
C.R.E.A.M. - S1-E5
Continuity mistake: Max briefly spots Walter on her way to pick up the file for Logan. For this one shot, he is much closer to the fence than in the previous or next. (00:10:30)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Revealing mistake: When Logan goes looking for Max at Jam Pony, as he starts talking to Normal there is a woman in a blue jacket with a black-and-yellow bike helmet walking behind him. She travels past the group and can be seen heading for the lockers behind OC and Sketchy. After Normal says, "I can't help you," the same woman walks behind Logan again, going the same direction. (00:16:55)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
C.R.E.A.M. - S1-E5
Continuity mistake: Original Cindy's strap constantly switches from running across her chest to running down her right side during her conversation with Herbal and Max in the alley, but her hands never leave her hips. (00:08:55)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: Max is wearing a baseball cap when she is arrested, and is still wearing it when she is waiting to be processed at Langford. She isn't wearing it or carrying it while they take her picture, log her belongings, and lock her down. In the prison yard, however, she manifests it in her empty right hand to give it to Break. (00:15:15 - 00:22:40)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
C.R.E.A.M. - S1-E5
Continuity mistake: As Max examines Alina's photos in the beginning, she twists one vertically. In the next shot from below, all the pictures are horizontal again. (00:03:00)
8th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: When Kendra bribes Walter, the establishing shot shows his arm on top of the car door with his hand inside but the next shot shows his hand on top of the door. (00:31:50)
7th Oct 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: When Liz goes to tell Hellboy that she is going out with Myers, her arms change from at her stomach and shoulder to at her sides between a shot from behind and the next front shot. (01:09:00)
6th Oct 2004

6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: At the motel, Max crosses her arms while she listens to Bruno's compliments. Her right hand is under her left arm, but switches to over her left arm just before she steps forward. (01:09:30)
6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: There are three shots of Bruno on the ground after Max knocks him down in the motel room. In the first, his tie is over his jacket, in the second shot it's under, and in the third the tie is pushed off farther to the right than it was before. (01:10:55)
6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: During their final conversation, shots on Max show that she is standing up straight but shots on Logan show Max in the background with her head tilted to her right. (01:22:00)
6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: At the end, Max goes to see Logan. She walks up to and leans on the same metal frame twice, once with the camera on her and once with it on Logan. (01:21:50)
6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: The strand of hair on the left side of Max's face changes position when Sonrisa tells her, "You'd better hope you're as smart as you think you are," at the end of their meeting. (01:08:25)
6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Plot hole: In the hoverdrone footage, Peter goes down suddenly during the gunfight, apparently from a wound to either the head or torso. However, there is no wound or blood on him and even his bulletproof vest has no marks except for the normal studs. If he had been hit in an extremity he would not have limply collapsed instantly. Sonrisa's goons are using automatic weapons that should have no trouble hitting him many times from that range of only a few meters. (00:54:00)
6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: In the hoverdrone footage, Logan has a large scrape on his left cheek. When Max finds him in the hospital, the scrape is on his right cheek and his left is clean. (00:54:20 - 00:57:45)
6th Oct 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Continuity mistake: On Max's first run with Sketchy, she spots a police drone and swerves in traffic to avoid it. In the shot where she swerves, Sketchy should be right behind her but has disappeared. (00:11:55)
6th Oct 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: Kroenen kills the two museum guards on the balcony and they flip as they fall. The shot on Kroenen shows both landing facing up (use slowmo to see ties) and they bounce with their toes pointing up. In the next shot showing Kroenen and the other guards, the dead guards are facing down. (00:41:35)
5th Oct 2004
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Continuity mistake: When Joel gets out of bed at the beginning, he flips back the corner when sitting up. In the next shot, he kicks off the comforter, but the corner is back over him again. (00:00:50)
5th Oct 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: On their date Myers tells Liz that Hellboy loves her. She looks up into his face, but in the next shot she's looking down again. (01:11:20)
5th Oct 2004
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Continuity mistake: When Clementine walks up to Joel on the train, he is looking directly at her. In the next shot from her left, he is bashfully looking down. (00:05:10)
5th Oct 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: After Liz arrives at BPRD, Myers gives Hellboy chili and tells him that nachos are on the way. A dark cat is walking up to Hellboy's left side on the bed. In the next shot, the cat in that place is black-and-white and facing away from the camera. (01:08:35)
3rd Oct 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: In the truck on the way to the library, Abe rises and says, "Outside...with her," and gestures. In the next shot, he's hunched over. (00:25:50)
3rd Oct 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning when Broom is bandaging his wound, a soldier asks him about Hell. Broom turns to look at him, but in the next shot is facing forward again. (00:10:25)
26th Sep 2004
Ruby Cairo (1993)
Continuity mistake: When Bessie is examining the cards she found under the desk, they constantly shift relative to each other between shots. (00:23:05)
23rd Sep 2004
The Perfect Score (2004)
Continuity mistake: As Roy is dealing with the password, there is a shot on the brightly-lit framed picture on the desk. A few shots later, with Desmond, Matt, and Anna in the background, the glass on the picture is shadowed or broken. (00:59:10)
23rd Sep 2004
The Perfect Score (2004)
Continuity mistake: Matt's face is brightly lit when he, Kyle, and Francesca are pinned against the wall of room 510 waiting for the guard to pass. He is almost completely shadowed when they break apart. (00:51:10)
23rd Sep 2004
The Perfect Score (2004)
Continuity mistake: At Wine Tasting Tuesday, Larry switches from sniffing the wine just under his nose to holding it in front of his chest. (00:35:10)
23rd Sep 2004
The Perfect Score (2004)
Continuity mistake: In Desmond's car, Roy puts on his left sock first, then crosses his right foot over his lap. The shot switches behind him and he is putting his left knee up into the frame. The angle changes again and he puts the sock on his crossed right foot. (00:34:15)
23rd Sep 2004
The Perfect Score (2004)
Continuity mistake: Right between Kyle's speech and introduction of the plan at Larry's, Roy switches from holding his arms at his sides in a shot on Desmond to crossing them in the wide shot. (00:40:05)
23rd Sep 2004
The Perfect Score (2004)
Continuity mistake: While Matt is telling Francesca about why he wants to be with Sandy, in the background Francesca can be seen turning to her right. The camera comes back to her and she is facing left again. (00:44:35)
22nd Sep 2004
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
Question: Does anyone have any idea what the bit with the security guard at the end was about? Even if Alice could somehow "fire" a virus into someone, there's no way she could have known where in the building the guard was just by looking at the cameras. She might be part computer, but she's not psychic. As far as I can tell, this isn't drawn from any of the games.
Chosen answer: The T-virus was causing her to evolve at a very fast rate. She developed psychic powers and used them on the guard.
18th Sep 2004
The Scorpion King (2002)
Continuity mistake: The handlers place four snakes in the pots without putting the lids back on. Then Memnon steps forward and covers the two empty pots - suddenly the snake pots are covered. (01:08:00)
17th Sep 2004
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)

17th Sep 2004
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
Continuity mistake: When LJ shows his custom guns to the STARS, he opens his coat and pulls the tail behind his back. In the wide shot, his arms are out to the sides. (00:37:15)
17th Sep 2004
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
Continuity mistake: As Alice is attacking the guards around the helicopter with the batons, she switches from holding them low to holding them high between shots right after she knocks down the last guard. There isn't enough time or any reason for her to do so in the second offscreen as the others arrive. (01:04:15)
1st Aug 2004
North by Northwest (1959)
Continuity mistake: At Prairie Stop 21, after the second man arrives, shots on Thornhill show that his left arm is bent (the sleeve is folded), but the wide shot on both of them shows his arms at his sides. (01:09:45)
1st Aug 2004
North by Northwest (1959)
Audio problem: When Thornhill and Kendall reunite after the shooting, they are obviously on a soundstage and not on location in the wilderness. There is absolutely no background noise, which is impossible in the outdoors: leaves rustling, birds calling, water trickling, wind gusting, etc. prevent the complete silence depicted by the movie. The quality of the actors' voices also sounds like indoors rather than an open space. (01:46:30)
1st Aug 2004
North by Northwest (1959)
Continuity mistake: As Thornhill backs away from murdered Townsend, the knife in his hand changes from point down to point up. (00:38:10)

24th Jul 2004

Smallville (2001)
Revealing mistake: When we see Ian split, his two selves are supposed to be looking directly at each other but they're really both looking slightly to the right. It's hard to focus when there's really nothing there. (00:15:45)

Skinwalker - S2-E10
Continuity mistake: While he is being attacked by the wolf the foreman fires the flare gun with his arms spread, meaning that it would fly at an angle away from him. He then sees it arcing back from below toward him, impossible unless the flare changed direction and location in the air. (00:02:20)

Continuity mistake: As Clark walks into his grandfather's motel room, his hands are behind his back. He turns to face his grandfather and both hands are now in front of him holding the photo album. The next shot shows him in the foreground raising his left arm from his side to hold the album. (00:31:30)

Smallville (2001)
Other mistake: Krissy's mutant aging reduces her to dust and ash within seconds. Oddly enough, it takes her non-mutant clothing with her. (00:36:45)
Suggested correction: First off, we don't know what gave her powers, there's nothing to indicate a mutation. Second, we see beams of light or heat shooting out of her, indicating she's more than just rapidly ageing like her victims. Her body seems to be burning, turning her and her clothes to ash.

Evil Dead II (1987)
Revealing mistake: During Ash's fistfight with Henrietta near the end, the blade of the chainsaw can be seen flopping like rubber. (01:12:10)
9th Jul 2004
Evil Dead II (1987)
Factual error: As Ash is hunting his rebellious hand, he blows a hole about the size of a fist in the wall, then removes two spent shells from the shotgun. At that range, a double-barreled shotgun blast would have dealt much more damage. At several later points, he deals the exact same damage to a wall with only one barrel. (00:32:45)
9th Jul 2004
Evil Dead II (1987)
Revealing mistake: As Ash is duct-taping his sleeve shut after he cuts off his hand, you can see the impression of his largest knuckles and first two fingers under the cloth. (00:31:45)

Evil Dead II (1987)
Continuity mistake: Linda's hair is dark as it rolls toward her standing headless corpse, but blonde as it attaches. It's dark again as she bangs Ash's head against the window blockade, but blonde when her head falls off a moment later. (00:17:50 - 00:18:45)
9th Jul 2004
Evil Dead II (1987)
Factual error: A line of blood flies onto the door of the work shed while Ash is using the chainsaw on Linda's head. However, the shadows of Ash and the head show that they are perpendicular to the door. All of the blood would be moved by the chainsaw in the direction of the cut, either toward Ash or the wall behind the head, so there is no way that much blood could land on the door. (00:22:00)
9th Jul 2004

3rd Jul 2004
Dark Angel (2000)
Factual error: A major plot point for this season is that Max's genome has no "junk DNA." Instead, it's all coded for something. A standard human genome has about 95% junk DNA, with the remaining 5% coded for building proteins. However, research from the 1980s and 1990s indicates that junk DNA isn't junk at all, but rather explicit instructions to the cell on when and how to read the protein-building instructions. If Max doesn't have that, then her cells would never be able to build proteins and she would never have been born. Even though Max has extra coded DNA for an unknown purpose, there is still no way she could live without "junk DNA".

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Factual error: Dr. Octavius says his fusion relies on tritium and that there is only 25 pounds of the substance in the world. In reality, tritium is a good deal more common than that. From this article (http://www.epa.gov/radiation/radionuclides/tritium.htm): "It is used in various self-luminescent devices, such as exit signs in buildings, aircraft dials, gauges, luminous paints, and wristwatches. Tritium is also used in life science research, and in studies investigating the safety of potential new drugs." There's also a large region of water near Antarctica which is rich in tritium.
Suggested correction: According to the link provided, as well as Wikipedia (and its resources), Tritium is actually quite rare on Earth, and uncommon in natural sources.
The link provided said that tritium "is produced naturally in the upper atmosphere when cosmic rays strike atmospheric gases. Tritium can also be produced by man during nuclear weapon explosions, in reactors intended to produce tritium for nuclear weapons, and by reactors producing electricity." https://trainex.org/web_courses/tritium/reference_pages/tritium%20EPA.pdf.

His whisper is heard at the proper volume by the Luthors watching the camera, but the speakerphone is on the desk ten feet behind Earl, making this impossible. Most surveillance cameras don't have microphones. (00:28:55)

Smallville (2001)
Audio problem: Clark listens to his father and Earl talking in the hospital through the visitor window. The sound is the same volume and quality as when Earl was using the microphone, which he is not using now. Even if Clark used super-hearing to eavesdrop, it wouldn't sound the same as the microphone. Deliberate mistake: Clark's CPR form is terrible. When he performs emergency breaths on Lex, Lex's chest doesn't rise and fall, indicating that he's not actually breathing much air in. He doesn't bother to measure for the proper location for chest compressions, a very important step that is the difference between proper CPR and simply cracking ribs. As he performs compressions, he is not chanting the rhythm (one-and-two-and-three) and his elbows are bent. All of these were altered for dramatic reasons or the purpose of safety, but the sloppy technique probably would have killed Lex. (00:18:40)

Once More, With Feeling - S6-E7
Revealing mistake: The knives Giles throws during Buffy's training are a very poor CGI job if you watch it in slow mo. All three knives Giles takes off the wall are identical, with a broad curved blade and a plain black handle. The first one has a transparent blade as it flies toward Buffy, then we hear it bounce off the far wall and it's way out of scale for the distance. The second knife has a diamond-patterned grip instead of a plain one. The third knife conveniently spins in midair for a second so Buffy can kick it out of the way. (00:30:35)

Question: After Ed and Norther rob the bank, Ed explains that he explained about how Texas oil money and poor federal regulation result in many savings and loans losing money. From the clothes and hairstyles, it looks like the 70s. Does anyone know what he is referring to?
Chosen answer: Deregulation of the U. S. savings & loan industry in the early 1980's greatly reduced the restrictions on which federally-chartered S&Ls could invest their money. Since the depositors' money was insured by the federal government, the S&Ls had no incentives to minimize risk. This resulted in a major political scandal by the end of the decade, to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars being lost through questionable investments, with taxpayers picking up the tab. Many of the most egregious violators were based in Sun Belt states, including Texas. The fashions do appear to be a bit out of date, however.

Question: At the beginning of the film, Jack Hall quickly explains how global warming could cause an ice age by altering the global ocean currents. The explanation is short and I didn't catch all of it. Could someone explain in more detail, preferably as simply as possible?
Chosen answer: Global warming melts the icecaps, releasing millions of tons of fresh water into the oceans. This upsets the delicate environmental balance of the oceans, leading to the ocean currents stopping. It's these currents that carry warm water up into the Northern Hemisphere, causing our temperate climate. The currents stop, everything cools down, fast.

24th May 2004
Van Helsing (2004)
Other mistake: Van Helsing's ring fits his as a human, but in the climactic fight he turns to werewolf form and back and is still wearing it. He didn't have time to take it off and put it back on, so either one of his wolf fingers should be horribly, painfully cramped or the ring should have broken. No one insinuates that the ring has magical powers of any kind to prevent this.

Tabula Rasa - S6-E8
Trivia: Tabula Rasa is a philosophical term. It's a school of thought founded primarily by John Locke and it holds that human beings are born as "blank slates" - that is, they have no knowledge or experience. This is contrasted with a belief system that all humans have certain ideas at birth; "God exists" is one commonly put forward.

Continuity mistake: During the missile barrage on the dark planet, one of the soldiers says, "The planet has increased in diameter by 200%." 14th May 2004
Starship Troopers (1997)
Factual error: In the English DVD subtitles, during the first commercial at the beginning of the movie, the announcer has a line that reads in the subtitles, "They're doing they're part." The second "they're" should be a possessive "their", not a contraction. (00:00:45)
13th May 2004
Lost in Space (1998)
Plot hole: Considering that this family has been training for the mission for years and certainly have received some instruction in astrobiology, they are awfully carefree around the cute little alien. Any real space farer would be aware of the enormous potential problems with first contact, like incompatible biochemistry (aliens might exude deadly toxins from their skin, be eaten alive by human-exhaled oxygen, etc). They even feed it human food without analyzing the alien; again, this could kill it, make it chemically dependent, cause it to go into a mating cycle, etc. But it's cute alien, so naturally they don't worry about any of this.

1st May 2004
Pitch Black (2000)
Factual error: The rock samples are from "22 years ago this month," and the solar model predicts a solar eclipse every 22 years. But in order for the sample records to be kept, they must be marked relative to an interplanetary standard. For the orrery to have consistently accurate meaning, it must be set to local years - revolutions of the mystery planet around the sun. One timekeeping is used for records that must be transferrable to other planets and the other for daily use like time of day, but the two cannot be mixed. This makes much more sense than applying the standard cycle to local time - it would totally ignore local events like day, night, and eclipses, all of which are very important.
1st May 2004

1st May 2004
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Revealing mistake: One of Peter Boyle's teeth on his lower jaw was painted black for that "broken grin" look. It can be seen reflecting in some scenes: when Frankenstein enters the cell with the monster and it cries, and later when the monster screams while killing the jailer. (01:15:30 - 01:28:40)
29th Apr 2004

28th Apr 2004
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
Factual error: In the first hijacking, one of the Honda Civics slips under the truck's trailer to avoid the road crew. Trailers with that much ground clearance do not exist, also trailers have a safety guard running the length of that space designed to prevent this very scenario from happening with a lower vehicle. The trailer has been modified to ride much higher than normal to make this stunt possible. The modifications to the lowered Honda are not sufficient to fit beneath an un-altered trailer. (00:02:35)

Factual error: In the fight immediately after Vic meets Quilla June, someone approaches Vic's nest from the right and fires just past his head. Vic turns and returns fire. The raider, who was moving forward, flies back from the impact and dies. Of course, bullets don't spread out their impact energy enough to knock someone back, no matter the caliber. (00:38:30)

Continuity mistake: During the alien's assault on the ship, one crewman is seen near the spaceship's stairs firing a weapon. However, the weapon is pointed at a forty-five to sixty degree angle - at this angle, he would hit the bottom of the ship, not the alien that is much farther out.

Continuity mistake: When Robby is aiming the blaster at Adams, Morbius tells him to aim between the eyes. In the shot on Adams, the tip of the blaster can be seen rising at the edge of the screen, but Robby is too far away for that to be possible.

Forbidden Planet (1956)
Trivia: To save money, many of the set backdrops in this film were recycled from The Wizard of Oz. This is most obvious in Morbius' garden.

Runaway Jury (2003)
Continuity mistake: When Nick and Marlee are talking in the church after his apartment is burned, he talks about the danger and she touches his face with her left hand, right hand out of sight below frame. She drops her hand slowly, but as he steps away it is her right hand that is raised and the left lowered. (01:11:40)

The Shining (1980)
Trivia: The famous scene where Wendy reads through Jack's accumulated work naturally doesn't have the same impact if the viewer can't read English. Therefore, for every foreign language the film was released in, Kubrick remade this shot with an appropriate cliche in each language - French, German, etc. Also, every page of every manuscript was hand-typed to recreate the realism of typos and misalignments.
19th Apr 2004
X-Men (2000)
Continuity mistake: Right after Wolverine slices the tip off one of the Statue of Liberty's prongs, he strikes a dramatic pose: left arm cocked at his chest, right arm extended. In the next shot, his right arm is at his shoulder and his left is in front. (01:23:00)

18th Apr 2004
Coyote Ugly (2000)
Continuity mistake: When Violet is singing at Coyote Ugly for the first time, she slides down the pole and back up, swinging her arm down and in front of her (away from the camera). Cut to her face and her arm is suddenly shoulder height on the pole. (00:50:35)

Hellboy (2004)
Question: Can anyone explain the origin and function of the spectral compass and pendant that Hellboy uses in the graveyard scene? They obviously didn't come through with him, but they're never shown before that in the movie - I figure they must be from the comics.
Chosen answer: Just like the artifact that Abe gives Hellboy, the compass is one of the many magical/supernatural items that the BPRD have aquired over the years. As to function, I would assume that it's used to find bodies that they can talk to (bodies with spirits attached, or who can be contacted on the other side.
14th Apr 2004
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Continuity mistake: After the doors are closed, all the remaining zombies are exterminated. In several shots we see prone bodies with puddles of blood around the head. Later, when they are cleaning up the bodies, there are no blood pools around any of them. (01:20:00 - 01:23:30)

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Continuity mistake: The zombie that attacks the helicopter at the gas station loses the top of its head to the spinning rotor, causing gouts of blood to flow down its front. In the shot as it falls over, the blood has miraculously stopped flowing and is now a dry stain. (00:25:20)
14th Apr 2004

14th Apr 2004
Secret Window (2004)
Factual error: At the climax, Mort stabs Amy in the lower leg. She stands up and leaves a prominent bloody footprint on a stray piece of paper on the ground. Problem is, there's no way the bottom of her shoe could be covered in blood to leave the footprint. She's been bleeding for less than five seconds, and there's no pool of blood for her shoe to pick up and make the footprint with.
14th Apr 2004
Secret Window (2004)
Continuity mistake: While Mort is talking to Amy on the phone near the beginning of the movie, the watch on the table moves from flat on its face to on its side between shots.

Continuity mistake: In the chapel at the end, Ilsa punches Myers and looks down to her right at him. Next shot is over Hellboy's shoulder, and she's still looking down in the background. Cut back to her for several lines and she's looking up and to her left. (01:41:00)
14th Apr 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: Hellboy tosses Dr. Manning through the quickly-closing door to escape the pendulum on the bridge - he barely makes it under. Hellboy then spends thirty seconds dodging the pendulum, but when he dives for the door it's still closing at the same point and speed - just enough for him to pass. (01:30:55)
14th Apr 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Continuity mistake: When Rasputin is talking to the professor about the evil in him, his hand ripples. From the front, his small finger is mostly straight, but in the shot behind, it's mostly flexed. Cut back and it's straight again. (01:17:40)
14th Apr 2004
Hellboy (2004)
Other mistake: All the time that Abe has been underwater reading multiple books at a time, he's never designed a machine to turn the pages? Even a pointer on a long arm would work serviceably. (00:19:50)
14th Apr 2004
The Game (1997)
Continuity mistake: In Christine's apartment, watch the lamp. In some shots, the entire ring around the shade is smoking, but in others, there is only one tendril. (01:21:15)
14th Apr 2004
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1997)
Deliberate mistake: Every time the commandos are seen in the early episodes of this season (The Freshman and Fear, Itself) they wear ski masks to protect their identities. Starting in The Initiative, they stop doing this. The reason is that the audience needs to be able to identify the different commando characters, but it's still a discontinuity.

Angel (1999)
3rd Apr 2004
Resident Evil (2002)
Revealing mistake: On the DVD commentary, the director says that he only had a handful of the experiment cubes in Dining Hall B and used cardboard cutouts for all the others. This is most obvious when Rain is walking through the hall alone to check on the first zombie: the cubes in the distance don't match the rigid rows of the ones in the foreground. (00:38:20)
3rd Apr 2004
Resident Evil (2002)
Revealing mistake: As the team gets off the subway and heads for the door into the Hive, the Red Queen's POV shows a nifty infrared display in the lower left corner that marks their locations - it obviously matches up to the ones on screen. But the dots are static, while the people are moving. (00:19:20)
3rd Apr 2004
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (1989)
Continuity mistake: When Indy meets Hitler, there is a shot over Indy's shoulder that shows his lips are slightly parted (relaxed). Cut to Indy's face and he closes his mouth tightly. In the very next shot, with no elapsed time, we see from Indy's shoulder again that Indy's mouth is relaxed as before. (01:10:15)

24th Mar 2004
King Kong (1933)
Revealing mistake: As the men walk past the downed stegosaurus, the camera moves faster than they do (judging from the background) but they stay at the center of the screen. Obviously the camera on the model of the stegosaurus moved faster than the camera on the men.
24th Mar 2004
King Kong (1933)
Revealing mistake: When Kong crushes the scaffolding in the island village, it collapses not into a heap of splinters but in a neat panel of solidly bound wood.
24th Mar 2004
King Kong (1933)
Continuity mistake: When Driscoll is hiding in the cliff cave with Kong above him, he moves from the front of the cave to the back two or three times without ever moving from the back of the cave to the front.

Starsky & Hutch (2004)
Revealing mistake: When Huggy Bear meets Starsky and Hutch in the alley to supply information, there is a closeup on his face as he sits in his car and just before he leaves. In this shot, it is very obvious that the facial hair on his cheek is attached with a glue strip. (00:27:55)

Continuity mistake: On the mine conveyor, the guard pins Indy to the belt with his foot and his head toward the grinder. The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Question: I am confused as to what happens to Sati. Is she the new One, succeeding Neo? Or did the Merovingian simply ensure that she could survive the Smith infection? In either case, where does the Merovingian, one program with power over only other programs, get the ability to guarantee either of these results?
Chosen answer: When Neo destroys Smith, all effects of Smith were undone, or something like that. There are those who say that everyone in the Matrix had become a Smith which is why the machines needed Neo's help because the situation was out of control.
24th Feb 2004

Underworld (2003)
Question: Can anyone explain Lucian's arm blade? It seems totally out of character for him, and every time he changed to wolf form he'd have to track it down and reattach it. Moreover, since these vampires don't have any weakness to metal, there's no special advantage in using a metal blade instead of his wolf claws. So what's the point?
Chosen answer: In most of the shots, Lucien takes his coat off when he changes to wolf form, and the blade would be attatched to a mechanism in him coat. Also, the film gives us an example of the blade hurting a vampire: bloodloss. And that kind of weapon could do some serious damage, and as it probably wouldn't kill the vampires, it would almost definitely slow them down.
Answer: Removal of the head kills everything. Immortal or not. At least that's what I saw.
13th Feb 2004
Alias (2001)
Other mistake: For secret agents, Sydney and Dixon are not very dedicated to secret identities. At several points they refer to each other by their real names in front of other people while they are under aliases. Examples include The Confession party and The Coup Las Vegas scenes.
4th Feb 2004
Alias (2001)
Continuity mistake: When Sydney is tortured, she loses some teeth and a stream of blood flows out the right side of her mouth. When she returns to SD-6 and speaks with the director, the blood is gone (fair enough). Outside on the street in the following shot, the blood has returned, but there's no reason to believe that she is still bleeding. (00:58:40)

The Mummy (1999)
Other mistake: Evie traces the marks on the inside of the coffin lid to show how they were made. Problem is, there are five parallel marks that all line up with each other. If they were really made be fingernails, the thumb mark would have been different from the finger marks. (00:56:20)
24th Jan 2004
The Mummy (1999)
Trivia: The Americans poke fun at O'Connell and Evy, saying that their find, the "juicy mummy", could be dried out and sold as firewood. This is a reference to Napoleon's invasion of Egypt, where his army burned dozens of mummies as fuel.
21st Jan 2004
Big Fish (2003)
Trivia: When Edward Bloom proposes in the field of daffodils, he wears a tie with a swirl design on it. The swirl is strongly reminiscent of an iconic shot from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1994), another Tim Burton film, when Jack Skellington's ridge is unfurling in front of a full moon.
2nd Jan 2004
Paycheck (2003)
Other mistake: Several times, Jennings sees himself being shot on the catwalk, and each time there is a closeup on the flying bullet as it travels toward his chest. But in the following shots, as he falls to the ground, there is never any indication of a wound where the bullet should have hit. The time viewer is always perfectly accurate and bases its predictions on the determined actions of the present, not theories of what actions could take place in the future. There is no way the time viewer could simply be omitting this detail.
2nd Jan 2004
Paycheck (2003)
Factual error: When Shorty is removing Jennings' memories in the beginning, the pictures shown are from a third person viewpoint. If they are his memories, shouldn't these be from Jennings' viewpoint? (00:06:40)
