Common mistakes

Factual error: When someone's body is engulfed in flames, s/he must spend at least a couple seconds flailing arms in the air and making awkward leg movements (sometimes zombie-like) before falling to the ground.

Countdown (2019)

Continuity mistake: In more than one scene, the roads were wet from recent rain yet cars stayed free of splash marks. When Quinn parks outside her home, the streets are wet, but when she opens the door to go inside, a view from inside the house does not show any wet pavement. (00:14:46)

Continuity mistake: In the parking lot scene where Kyle and Swin encountered Pat, Swin's hair was frizzy on the left side during rear views but neatly combed back without frizz with front views.

The Silencing (2020)

Character mistake: The new sheriff ("Alice") told Rayburn that she has only been sheriff for a couple months and was still catching up on active cases. Rayburn replied, "Yeah, my daughter's case is far from active." The sheriff then told Rayburn, "My training is very different from the officers around here" - meaning college-educated (Ivy League?), more professional, more effective, and modern. Despite this, some of the sheriff's actions (e.g, walking unannounced into suspects' houses and/or without a proper warrant; questionable "probable cause"; shooting Rayburn to protect her brother) fell far short of the ideal. Perhaps most significantly, the sheriff gave Rayburn a warning shot and told him not to kill Dr. Boone... then she stood back and merely watched Rayburn push Dr. Boone into the pitfall and close the doors while knowing the doctor was severely injured and dying. These things do not show her purported superior training. (00:21:43 - 01:25:34)

Ray: This guy was the cokehead. [Points at Papa] You were the cokehead.
Papa: I stopped four years ago. You know that.
Ray: How do you think he stayed this skinny?
Papa: I have a high metabolism.
Ray: They should have his face on a nickel in Bolivia.

Scott's Aunt: Maybe you should work and go to college.
Elderly man: College is bullshit! You know who went to Harvard? The Unabomber. You know who went to Temple? Bill Cosby. You know who else went to Temple? Ted Bundy. You know who went to Hofstra? Bernie Madoff. You know who went to Wharton? Donald Trump. It's all a scam.

Josh Wisenewski. They call me "Wizz" 'cause I'm the smartest f-k in the business. Hey - What's the difference between a hooker and a debt collector?
Sal: I like this joke.
Josh: A hooker takes your money before she screws you.

Peg: OK, um... I'm supposed to talk about what I learned in prison. Supposed to talk about what I learned in prison. I learned, I learned, I learned, don't go, right? Just stay away. Just stay away from there. Oh, I learned... there are better ways to erase debt than torching your boyfriend's office. (01:29:16)

Swin: Excuse me, ma'am? Do you happen to know where the radishes are?
Lady: I don't know, with the vegetables I guess. That's an educated guess.
Swin: [chuckles] New in town, name's Swin.
Lady: Oh, your name's about as dumb as mine. Johnna.
Swin: Pleasure. Really, no tellin' how long I'll be in the area. Yeah, I'm a freelance government auditor. Let's get this courtship underway.
Johnna: I'm on shift tonight.
Swin: What about tomorrow night?
Johnna: Church.
Swin: I'm actually working - did you say Church?
Johnna: Yeah, you should try it sometime.
Swin: I have. We all have.
Johnna: Well, try again. Maybe it'll stick. [Pushes her cart away and Swin chuckles. Swin catches up to Johnna loading groceries into her trunk] Can I help you with something?
Swin: What about Saturday?
Johnna: This is creepy. The radishes and then this following me out to my car. You're... You're just creepy.
Swin: Do you like creepy?

[Kyle hears someone breaking into his apartment, tackles the burglar as soon as he opens the door, then restrains the burglar in a nearby closet.]
Colin: Kyle, you here? It's Colin. Tell me you still got it, man. [Kyle points to the bag.] Ooh! That's what I'm talking about! You may wanna step out for a while.
Kyle: Why's that?
Colin: Well, there's a gentleman may stop by. If so, I got to shoot him.
Kyle: Colin, you one crazy son of a bitch. I got a guy in my closet. I don't know if he's the same one you're thinking of.
Colin: Curly headed?
Kyle: Yeah, that's the one.
Colin: And he's alive?
Kyle: So far.
Colin: Pack your shit.
Kyle: Did I just get promoted?
Colin: Yep. You're goin' to Arkansas.

Good Boys (2019)

Stupidity: Lucas was standing between some SCABs and the girl bullying the boy, but was looking in another direction. The other SCABs obviously saw the bullying but didn't respond. Lucas turned his head and saw the bullying and immediately intervened. The other SCABs didn't move and continued to simply stand there and watch. (01:17:16)

Other mistake: Rayburn pulled an arrow out of his chest - and without much blood gushing out. The rather small amount of blood on the towel and Rayburn's ability to go about business as though he had not been injured is unrealistic and absurd. (00:27:00)

Continuity mistake: The flatbed truck that Kyle and Swin got in at the onset of their trip is very different when they parked and went to buy rope (but got tape). The truck style is different, the cargo and its cover have changed (tarp is smaller, a different color, and is wrapped across instead of front to back), and the orange cone/cones change locations. Arkansas (2020)

Factual error: It would not be possible for Kyle to see the woman breast-feeding - and certainly not as shown. Kyle was driving an SUV in the left lane and Swin was the front-seat passenger. When a car was approaching the SUV from the right-hand lane and the rear passenger area was approximately side-by-side at the SUV's passenger window (which is DARK-TINTED!), Swin looked toward the car, but his face was right in front of the frame around the windows - he would, at most, see the woman's left shoulder... and the baby was feeding "on the right." I doubt Kyle would have been able to see any part of the woman when he turned his head to look. At most (and this is unlikely given the height of the SUV), he might have gotten a partial glimpse of the woman's left shoulder and only after the car she was riding in was in front of the SUV's windshield (but still in the right-hand lane). Buffaloed (2019)

Factual error: Peg turned state's witness against other debt collectors (who were convicted thanks to her testimony) and her "deal" with the prosecutor cleared her of all debt-related charges. However, her destruction of evidence (52,437 debt sheets) could not be overlooked or forgiven and she had to serve time in confinement. Peg said, "Luckily, half my jury had their debt erased in the fire, so I got a lighter sentence." This would NOT happen in court! Potential jurors are questioned to make sure they are non-biased, know little if anything about the case, do not have a vested interest (they are neutral and detached) in the outcome, etc. Each side (prosecution and defense) is allowed a certain number of peremptory challenges (allowing them to dismiss a certain number of potential jurors). Screening questions to potential jurors in this case would include whether they currently have debt, which creates bias and would result in dismissal as a juror. Jurors also would NOT determine her sentence. (01:27:46)
