The Burial (2023)

Character mistake: Mama says to Jeremiah, "Does Willie ever tell you he's one of 11 siblings?" Jeremiah replies, "I have 13 children of my own." Willie Gary says, "Y'all have 26 kids between you," but 11 + 13 = 24. (01:26:42)

The Burial (2023)

Character mistake: Educated, intelligent, lawyer Willie Gary tells Mame, "I have this reoccurring dream... [prosecuting a case against Johnnie Cochran]." It should be "recurring dream" - keeps happening repeatedly (over and over) as opposed to just happening again. (00:51:50)

Rent-a-Groom (2023)

Character mistake: Co-worker Todd Pearlman tells Tracey, "Everything is going to change around here once I get the 'editor in chief' position. Hey, but don't worry. Nothing is going to change between you and I." The word "between" is a preposition and the correct prepositional phrase is "between you and me" - something a high school student should know and a basic grammar skill required for any editor or employee in a writing-related agency (publishing company). Character mistake: [Story 1: Hungry Joe] It isn't clear what blood test results the doctor receives for Joe, but Laura pleads that she "really needs to know what's wrong with her son" because "He eats, he eats, and he eats, and he never stops." The doctor dismisses Laura's concern and replies, "Growing boys eat... we'll see you in six months." The doctor should order additional tests. Blood tests can show "false negatives" and the appropriate blood tests may not have been ordered in the first place. (00:04:25 - 00:05:18)

Character mistake: Corinne suffers a seizure and is at the hospital with Jane at her bedside. Dr. Mitchell enters the room and, without asking what relationship Jane is to Corinne or if Corinne wants Jane to be present, proceeds to tell Corinne the results of her CT scan, referral to a neurologist, and that the hospital has a very strong oncology department. Dr. Mitchell does not take the necessary precautions to maintain Corinne's right to privacy. (00:28:16)

Smile (2022)

Character mistake: Laura is on the floor, screaming and exhibiting bizarre behaviour, so Dr. Rose Cotter goes to the wall phone to call for help. Instead of maintaining observation and continuing an evaluation of Laura, the psychiatrist faces the wall while making the call and even stares at the wall for a couple of seconds after hanging up. A patient's body language can/do help make a diagnosis, so the psychiatrist should keep her eyes on Laura. (00:11:20)

Mortal Thoughts (1991)

Character mistake: Cynthia Kellogg comes forward to voluntarily give information about the James Urbanski case. Detective Nealy tells Kellogg, "As a matter of procedure, I have to inform you of your rights." Kellogg says she didn't do anything so doesn't need a lawyer. Nealy replies, "This is your right" and proceeds to inform her of her Miranda Rights. Miranda warnings are applicable to suspects/defendants who are in police custody (under arrest) and about to be interrogated, not voluntary witnesses. (00:03:02 - 00:03:57)

Hard Hit (2021)

Character mistake: The man on the phone told Mr. Lee he wanted $960,000 cash plus $1,726,000 transferred into his account. Because the Deputy Manager was killed when the bomb in his car exploded, Mr. Lee was later told he had to pay for his share, another $1,726,000 - so he needed to transfer $3,456,000. But $1,726,000 + 1,726,000 = $3,452,000. (00:11:20 - 00:20:32)

Bad Blood (2021)

Character mistake: Marjorie's supervisor said the police found Nathan "torturing an animal [dog], there was a struggle and he assaulted one of them." Marjorie then asked, "Is he violent?" Her supervisor replied, "I have no reason to believe so. I mean, he did resist arrest, but that's probably out of fear" and the mental health team said there was "no obvious psychopathy." Social workers/mental health teams should have assessed cruelty to animals and resisting arrest as indicators of potential for violence. (00:03:55 - 00:04:30)

The System (2022)

Character mistake: "Joker" announced, "we get out of our cages once a week for one reason only. And that is, The Dungeon [where the fights are held]." The cells were in PODS, where the inmates hung out. Inmates had work assignments around the prison and walked the halls. There were outdoor exercize areas with gym equipment and basketball hoops. There was a pool table, games, TV screens, a common cafeteria, etc. - far from "getting out of cages once a week." (00:36:50)

Blue Ridge (2020)

Character mistake: Deputy Becky told Sheriff Justin that Vivian's "been murdered." Discovering a dead body with cuts/scratches, a broken ankle, and a head wound (next to a rock with blood on it) does not automatically mean the person was murdered, and the Sheriff/police should have conducted a thorough investigation before making any conclusion about the cause of death. The death could have been accidental, such as by tripping while fleeing a wild animal. (00:11:55 - 00:13:29)

Blue Ridge (2020)

Character mistake: Deputy Becky said Mrs. Pierce was in shock over Vivian's murder. An EMT is shown standing next to Mrs. Pierce taking her blood pressure on top of her sweater/jacket (with a blouse underneath), which would interfere with an accurate reading. Mrs. Pierce's arm is also bent at the elbow instead of being straight. If Mrs. Pierce was truly in shock, the EMT should have had her lie on the ground with her legs/feet elevated above her heart. Don't Let Her In (2021)

Character mistake: Amber was a poster artist and Ben was a musician. Amber said to Serena, "You know a lot of people and can afford rent, so why do you want to live downtown?" The downtown area or center of a city is especially attractive to artists (as Amber should know) for its art/cultural/entertainment opportunities and experiences. Amber was also implying that it was more expensive to live in the suburbs than in a downtown apartment (where rent can be unaffordable to all but at least the upper-middle class). (00:07:20)

This Is Our Home (2019)

Character mistake: Reina asked Cory if they could "do that thing" because it was helpful for her medical school training. Reina then put a raw slab of steak/meat across his forehead and made slits in the meat as well as jabbed at it. A medical student studying to become a brain surgeon should know about and practice the safe handling of raw meat. (00:23:10)

Tulsa (2020)

Character mistake: Caseworker Jaylene recognized the man in the photo with Tulsa's biological mother (deceased for two years) but did not know if Tommy was Tulsa's biological father like Tulsa asserted. Jaylene also knew the proper procedures for placing a child (including emergency situations) and that she could lose her license - not to mention be putting the child at risk - by letting her stay with Tommy. Supervisor Kerry even warned Jaylene, but Jaylene left Tulsa with the man "assumed" to be her father. (00:07:05 - 00:12:35)

Child's Play (2019)

Character mistake: When Detective Mike walked past 13-year-old Andy and his friends (depicted as neighborhood children or young teens), he said, "Little f-ing millennials." Millennials were born between 1981 - 1996, so their current ages would be 26 - 41 (or about three years younger when the movie was made). Andy and his friends would fall under Generation Z ("Zoomers"), born between 1997 - 2012 (current ages 10 - 25 or 3 years younger when the movie was made). (00:25:52)

About Fate (2022)

Character mistake: The 911 operator told Margot, "He [intruder Griffin] sounds harmless to me" and Margot said, "Fine", ending the 911 call. The 911 operator should follow protocol for an intruder (especially since there was the possibility of a another intruder in the house), not make a subjective assessment of the situation based on the conversation between the resident and the intruder. Skipped Parts (2000)

Character mistake: Sam and Maurey were watching TV news coverage of Kennedy's assassination (11/22/63). When Petey got home (around 12:05 PM MST), he tried to change the channel, then said, "Mom, Maurey won't let me watch 'Rocky'." Laurabel/Mom said, "You know he watches 'Rocky' every afternoon." But school was let out early due to the assassination, so Petey would normally be in school at noon and therefore not be able to watch "Rocky" at that time in the afternoon. (00:21:30 - 00:23:17)

Character mistake: After Dimitri put Leena's wrist bands on for her (through the door slot), Leena said, "I want to do something nice for you; you can come in." Dimitri agreed, and Leena pulled up a chair to stand on (to be his height) and caress his face/ hair. When Leena bent in to kiss him, she banged his head against the wall several times, killing him. As a "Saarne Instituute" security member, Dimitri should know not to get sexually involved with or trust a patient, especially the most dangerous one. (00:10:29 - 00:11:29)
