Character mistake: When Dr. Brackett is showing the paramedic trainees the defibrillator and how it's used on a patient, Brackett places the paddle electrodes on the Defib tester to display its effectiveness, and says, "Eyes on the V-fib tester." However, it's not a V-fib tester to test for ventricular fibrillation, it's a Defib tester, testing the effectiveness of the external defibrillator's electrical shock.Super Grover
Visible crew/equipment: When the police officer who was struck by lightning is wheeled into the ER, just as Dixie, Brackett, and Early walk up the hallway, the two tape marks are visible on the floor right outside the doorway of treatment 2, where Dixie is about to stand. Additionally, we can see the outline of the transmitter wire on the back of Dixie's uniform.Super Grover
Revealing mistake: When Dixie's in the basement asking Gary why the lab is still backed up, the next shot shows the plumber working in the cabinet under the sink, but when it cuts to the next shot the plumber is gone, his tool box is closed, things are different/missing from the counters, and the tables and stools have been turned over with a mess all around, before the explosion even occurs.Super Grover
Revealing mistake: After the husband and wife are pulled from the plane wreck, they're lying on the ground while Roy and Johnny are treating them. In this wide shot, which lasts about 12 seconds, have a look at Roy's face. He has no eyes or eyebrows, as part of his face has been blurred out, and when Roy moves his face it's quite bizarre to look at. Whoever edited and blurred Roy's face in this footage even matched his skin tone. This is visible on Netflix as well as the DVD, which was created in 2010 by Universal Studios, where Emergency! was filmed during its run on the air in the '70s. Don't know why this was done, but it's there.Super Grover
Other mistake: While Roy's in the ambulance with the woman who fainted, when she holds out the bag of potato chips, we can see the large brand name on the front of the bag is covered with red tape in two places. Though they neglected to cover the small 'Lays' brand name on the side of the bag.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When the unconscious boy is brought to the ER, he's taken into treatment 2, with a windowless door, but when Early is doing the lumbar tap on the boy, the door behind Early has a window, and also by the way the room is set up, we know it's treatment 1 he's in, not 2.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: At the restaurant, when they begin to work on getting Mrs. Merkle out from under the car, Vince sets the Biophone down on the table, and there's a netted, red glass candle on the table, but in a following closeup the candle's net has vanished and it's pinkish clear glass now. Other items on the table change as well.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When Ruthie is wheeled into the ER, Dixie tells the attendants to put her in the treatment room where Dr. Early's waiting, and they wheel her into treatment 2 which has a windowless door, but when they're in the room the door has a window, which means she's in treatment 1, not 2. Plus the fact that both treatment rooms are set up differently.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: In the opening shot of Roy and Johnny at the whale tank, the maintenance guy behind them is standing between the red bleacher seats and purple seats below, but in Roy and Johnny's closeups the guy is standing between the two top purple bleacher seats, then when the whale splashes, it goes back and forth yet again.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When the patient with the heart wound is brought to the ER, he's wheeled into treatment 2, which has a window on its door, and is on the side of the hallway with the yellow line closest to it. Later we see treatment 1 twice, when Vince brings in the burglary suspect with a bullet in his leg, and also when John and Roy rush the baby to the ER. They used the same room as treatment 1 and treatment 2, but there are just two treatment rooms on that side of the hallway and only one of them has a window on its door - the one that's opposite the nurses' station, treatment 1.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: At the start of the episode, we see the squad and engine pull back into the station, and one of the guys - it would be either Marco or Chet, is standing on the engine's tailboard motioning to Mike, who is driving backwards, but in the next shot both Marco and Chet are seated in their jumpseats as Engine 51 comes to a stop.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: At the structure fire, when Roy and Johnny rescue the man in room 22 by breaking the window, the door to room A is right beside them and we can see the axe mark on the door and the damage to the wall. When Johnny and Roy go back through the window to look for the missing Dr. Bennis, as Johnny uses the K-12, the door to room A now has many more axe marks and the damaged wall is far less damaged.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When Morton and Early are examining the guy with stomach pain and cramps, Morton's stethoscope is around his neck with the earpiece at his left and the chestpiece to his right, but in the closeup it's the opposite way around, then it's back to the original way.Super Grover
Other mistake: During the surgery on Brackett's father, after the closeup of the anesthesiologist there is a closeup of the Bird's Mark 4 unit, then a closeup of the bellows housing showing inflation and deflation, but on the bellows unit it reads "Animal Anesthesia Ventilator" made by Bird.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When the cardiac patient is finally brought to the ER, and goes into full arrest number four, he's wheeled into treatment 1 which does not have a window on its door, but in the next shot from inside the room the door has a window, and when they're defibbing him, we can see the nurses' station outside the door, which means he's now in treatment 3, not 1.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When Squad 51 arrives at the training center, Johnny's turnout coat is open and we see that he's only wearing an undershirt, but when it's 18's turn at the sulfur trioxide, as Johnny's putting on his air mask he's wearing the blue uniform shirt under his turnout.Super Grover
Captain Stanley: How are you and Brice getting along?
Roy: Fine. Fine. We're getting along just fine.
Captain Stanley: Thought for a while there might be a little personality problem.
Roy: No, I can work with just about anybody. I can get along with just about anybody.
Captain Stanley: Glad to hear that.
Roy: Just might have to bust him in the mouth to do it.
Trivia: It's in this episode that the Heimlich Maneuver is used for the first time by the paramedics. At the USC game, when a guy is choking on a hot dog, John and Roy are called, and John uses the Heimlich. Up until season 6 we've seen the guys use other methods, such as the ChokeSaver which look like huge white tweezers, to remove obstructions in an airway, as seen in 4x9, "Foreign Trade."Super Grover
