Continuity mistake: When Roy and Johnny are with the man in full arrest on the tower at the refinery, Johnny hooks up the Datascope with the wire, but in all the overhead shots there is no wire at the back of the Datascope monitor.
Visible crew/equipment: After the boy who ingested the ant poison is loaded onto the ambulance, when the back doors are shut, the reflection of the location set lighting is visible in the ambulance window and on its surface.
Visible crew/equipment: After Johnny carries Cindy down from the treehouse, when Cindy's mother joins them, the bulging outline of the lavalier mic transmitter is visible on the back of her white sweater.
Audio problem: When Station 51 is dispatched to the brushfire, we hear Roy tell Johnny, "Holly Hills, isn't that where all the expensive homes are," but we see that Roy's mouth is saying something entirely different.

Continuity mistake: Before climbing up to the man lying on the scaffolding, when Roy and Johnny put the pompier belts around their waists, both belts are buckled so the tongue buckles and carabiner hooks are at their right sides, but both stuntmen are wearing their belts the opposite way in the wide shots. Notice the axe sheaths are upside down on Johnny's and Roy's belts, but the stuntmen's pompier belts are buckled the right way.
Continuity mistake: During the structure fire, after the security guard has been carried down the ladder, in the interior shot when Johnny follows, he places his injured right leg out the window first, but in the next exterior shot it's his left leg which is out the window, then it's back to his right leg being first out the window.
Continuity mistake: When Roy and Chet go to Rampart to visit Johnny on their day off, Dixie tells them that Johnny's in room 205, but when Chet and Roy walk in the number on the door is 230.
Continuity mistake: When Chet flags down the young driver to get help for the traffic accident victims, the driver's side wing mirror is tilted out at a wide angle in the long shot, but in the next closeup the wing mirror has been pushed flat up against the car, so as not to block the actor during the conversation.

Continuity mistake: When Roy and Johnny are on scene at the boating accident, John contacts Rampart, and in the closeup of the base station telephone, we see the old reel-to-reel tape recorder that was used during season 1, behind the old GE Deskon 3-button telephone. In the next shot Rampart's base station is back to normal.
Continuity mistake: When the stokes with the boating accident victim is being loaded onto the Harbor Patrol boat, Roy's standing behind The Boat in the water and Johnny's in The Boat with the stokes, but in the next shot they've switched places, Roy's in The Boat and Johnny's behind The Boat. Others have also switched places between shots.
Continuity mistake: When 51's guys are standing around Johnny's bed looking at the cat, in the cat's closeups she is facing the locker room, but in the other shots she is facing the opposite way, with the guys behind her.
Continuity mistake: After 17's Captain Harmell has fallen through the warehouse roof, when Roy wraps the tape around Harmell's leg splint, the entire splint is covered by tape when they lift him up the ladder, but when Harmell is carried out of the snorkel, there is much less tape - it's wrapped around the splint only 5-6 times.
Character mistake: When Dr. Brackett talks to the attempted suicide's boyfriend, he tells Brackett that the girl has already attempted suicide a total of three times, and the first time she was hospitalized, but a minute later when Dr. Morton reads the hospital records and tells Brackett that the girl attempted suicide the previous year and was hospitalized, Brackett then tells Morton that her boyfriend said that she tried it three additional times. It was just a minute earlier that the boyfriend said two additional times, not three.

Continuity mistake: When Johnny's leaning through the windshield of the truck carrying dynamite, using the jaws to free the driver, Marco's behind Johnny with the hose fogging them down, and Johnny's clothes get soaked, but in the closeup as Johnny pulls the driver from his seat, Johnny's shirt is completely dry.

Visible crew/equipment: At the start of the episode, when Johnny is taking photos of Roy in the locker room, the actor's tape mark is visible on the floor below the bench, where Johnny stands when he shows Roy the article in the newspaper supplement.
Visible crew/equipment: During the structure fire, after Roy and John climb out onto the ledge and the fire flashes in the exterior shots, the next interior shots we see shows stacked boxes falling as the fire flashes through the doors. The interior shots are from episode 3x7, "Promotion", during the structure fire, after the security guard is taken down the ladder. We can even see a crew member's hand pushing a lower box which causes them all to fall.
Continuity mistake: After Station 51 responds to the stove fire and puts it out, the frustrated woman tosses her handbag over her shoulder with the buckle behind her, but in the next shot the handbag has flipped over with buckle at the front.
Visible crew/equipment: When Johnny is bending down while checking on Boot, who's hiding under the bed again, and also as he and Roy walk out of the dorm when Station 51 is dispatched to the 'stove fire', the outline of the lav mic transmitter is visible on the back of Johnny's shirt.
Visible crew/equipment: After Roy and Johnny are dispatched to the woman whose hand is caught in the blender, when they ring the doorbell and then walk to the back door, the outline of the mic transmitter is visible at the back of Johnny's shirt.
Answer: It is standard practice to wet down driveways so that they stand out in a long shot.
