Continuity mistake: When Squad 51 is dispatched and headed to their destination, interior shots looking out the windshield are shown. It is only in these shots that the Dodge truck's red hood has vents on its right and left sides. There is no such thing in any exterior shots of Squad 51. The hood's style also changes.Super Grover
Revealing mistake: In at least three episodes, which include 'Saddled', 'Peace Pipe' and 'Women', the same corner restaurant/hot dog stand (with a striped orange/white awning and green vinyl bar stools) is featured. That would be fine, if it weren't for the fact that in each episode the street it is located on has a different name and different cross streets. It is obviously a set on the Universal Studios lot.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When the paramedics and the rest of the firemen gather round the failed pacemaker patient, their positions change and in DeSoto's close-ups the Captain isn't seen (for the camera angle's sake), although in other shots he's right beside Gage. As an aside, note when Captain Stanley first first gets off the engine and trips in the background.Super Grover
Continuity mistake: When DeSoto joins Gage at the kitchen table they discuss Gage's bright idea of rodeos. In all the shots facing DeSoto his hands are clasped together with the coffee cup on the table, but in all the shots facing his partner, he's holding the cup of coffee. The magazine ends up under DeSoto's arms between shots as well.Super Grover
Revealing mistake: When Squad 51 is dispatched from the stationhouse, the exterior shots show buildings, traffic, trees, etc., they pass along the way. In some close-up shots of Gage and DeSoto while en route, too much of the vehicle's left and/or right sides are visible, which actually shows nothing but a blank screen behind them.Super Grover
Visible crew/equipment: On site at the chemical leak, when Captain Stanley talks into his handie-talkie and says "Engine 36, we're not doing any good with this, let's try light water," in the next shot, while the camera pans to the right, we can see a cameraman (filming Deluge 105's closeups that we see during this scene) holding his handheld, standing in front of an engine and facing Deluge 105, just before the camera focuses on the guys with the hoses.Super Grover
Revealing mistake: When Roy brings the man with a laryngeal obstruction into the ER and is taken quickly to treatment 1, his head is tilted back and Early places a laryngoscope into the patient's mouth and says that he sees the obstruction. The problem is that we can see that the laryngoscope is actually at the side of the patient's face. Then, when Early uses the forceps to remove the obstruction, once again we can see that it does not go into the patient's mouth.Super Grover
Visible crew/equipment: When 127's snorkel is raised to rescue the man who was electrocuted atop a utility pole, as he's being loaded, in the first closeup within the snorkel, we can notice two things. We can see someone wearing denim at the left of the screen between 127's guy and Johnny, and we also see the ground past Johnny's head. Then as the snorkel is still being lowered, in the shot from the same POV, once again at the left we see that crew member wearing denim, who is outside the snorkel basket, and also see the ground, but the ground has not changed. This reveals that these two closeups were shot at ground level.Super Grover
Revealing mistake: At the site of the hang gliding accident, just after the glider falls, in the long shot when Johnny and Chet pull the unconscious victim higher on the cliff, the victim is supposed to be unconscious, yet we see him use his right leg to push himself higher up to help John and Chet pull him up.Super Grover
Other mistake: On site with the boy on the ledge, when Truck 85 raises the aerial ladder Roy stands by and waits to go up with Johnny behind him. Both Roy and Johnny are the only ones not wearing their turnouts, and both of their watches are on their left wrists, but when 85's aerial apparatus operator says "Desoto, up the aerial," the bare arm we see beside him is wearing the watch on his right wrist. This is not a flipped shot.Super Grover
Other mistake: When the tones drop and the lights come on, waking up 51's guys in the middle of the night for the industrial fire, there are two closeups of the guys putting their feet into the boots and pulling up their turnout trousers. The problem is that the closeups are not Station 51's guys - note the beds, linens, walls, floor are all different. The two closeup shots are from the first episode "The Wedsworth-Townsend Act", and the guys are from Station 10.Super Grover
Captain Stanley: How are you and Brice getting along?
Roy: Fine. Fine. We're getting along just fine.
Captain Stanley: Thought for a while there might be a little personality problem.
Roy: No, I can work with just about anybody. I can get along with just about anybody.
Captain Stanley: Glad to hear that.
Roy: Just might have to bust him in the mouth to do it.
Trivia: It's in this episode that the Heimlich Maneuver is used for the first time by the paramedics. At the USC game, when a guy is choking on a hot dog, John and Roy are called, and John uses the Heimlich. Up until season 6 we've seen the guys use other methods, such as the ChokeSaver which look like huge white tweezers, to remove obstructions in an airway, as seen in 4x9, "Foreign Trade."Super Grover
