26 corrected entries in season 4

Homer's Triple Bypass - S4-E11

Corrected entry: This is the first and only episode Marge has said "D'oh".

Correction: There are at least 2 other episodes where marge says d'oh. She says it when she finds out her mother is dating Mr Burns (Lady Bouvier's lover) and in another episode when she is impersonating homer (Not sure of the episode).

So It Has Come to This: The Simpsons Clip Show - S4-E18

Corrected entry: When Mr Burns comes to the hospital, he says that Homer is costing his health insurance plan money. But in "Homer's Triple Bypass" Homer says that he gave up his health insurance with the boys at work.

OL1V3R666

Correction: We don't know whether the plan was restarted or not. There was enough time in between the two episodes for the union to have taken the issue up with Mr Burns and demanded it back. Much like when the union went on strike to keep the dental plan and eventually won.

Kamp Krusty - S4-E1

Corrected entry: When Homer is mowing the lawn he runs over the hose, but in the next shot after he talks to Bart the hose is gone.

Amy Dobbins

Correction: We can not actually see the hose after Homer runs it over because Homer and Bart have jumped positions and are closer to the grill, so the hose may be out of shot.

Tree House of Horror III: The Simpson's Halloween Special III - S4-E5

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the episode, Nelson punches Martin. Surely Marge would have noticed it, but she didn't.

OL1V3R666

Correction: Not really a mistake. She just didn't notice it.

Tree House of Horror III: The Simpson's Halloween Special III - S4-E5

Corrected entry: When Homer says that he is going to get Bart a birthday present, he runs to the car and drives away. Not only is it impossible for him to run out to the car, get inside, start the engine and drive away in the time he did, but he presumably used the back door (as we did not see him use the front door). Why didn't he use the front door? It would have been much quicker.

Correction: Matt Groening (the creator) has said that they decided to do an inside joke in the show of characters driving away too quickly, so when Homer does it, it is on purpose.

Marge Gets a Job - S4-E7

Corrected entry: When the woman in Krusty's studio says that the wolf gets spooked by loud noises, Krusty mentions "loud" as the day's secret word. There are video cameras in sight, indicating that it was being aired on TV. The only problem is, it's not going to be the secret word any longer if it is revealed like that.

OL1V3R666

Correction: That's the point. Its a spoof of Pee Wee's play house where if a guest said the secret word noises and lights would go off and everybody cheers and yells. It would not ruin anything because it's just a fun play along gag for the kids at home and in the studio to play and get into. I believe the secret word is reveled at the beginning to the audience, just not the guests.

Spaceboy_007

Mr. Plow - S4-E9

Corrected entry: When Barney is chasing his diaper, he turns a corner and sees his mother. However, in another episode, he says that his mother lives in Norway, which would mean that he would probably know if his mother was coming.

Correction: When Barney turns the corner he says "Hi Mum". Its presumptious to say he wouldn't know his mother was coming in from Norway or didn't know she was coming. We don't know Barney's schedule or what was going on in his life at this time. All we really know was he was down on his luck in the episode.

Lummie

Whacking Day - S4-E20

Corrected entry: At the start of the episode, Skinner says that Bart, Jimbo and Nelson have won mountain bikes. Yet when they enter the basement, Dolph and Kearney are with them, despite them not being called out.

Correction: Kearney and Dolph might have got permission to go with them. Even if they didn't, they probably would do something like skip their lesson to go with Bart, Nelson and Jimbo (they'd probably skip the lesson because they normally do bad things like that). After all, they do hang around with each other a lot, don't they?

OL1V3R666

Duffless - S4-E16

Corrected entry: The hamster gets electrocuted mildly by a food pellet with an electric current. However, it is an electrical insulator so it couldn't have an electric current.

OL1V3R666

Correction: It's impossible to tell what the battery is connected to. Yes it's the same shape as a food pellet but hamsters will gnaw on anything including the bars of their cages, which are metal.

Tree House of Horror III: The Simpson's Halloween Special III - S4-E5

Corrected entry: In "Clown Without Pity", when Homer buys a Krusty doll for Bart, the guy at the shop doesn't give it to him inside a box. When Homer gives it to Bart, it is inside a box.

OL1V3R666

Correction: There may have been more than one item of this doll and the one he showed Homer was for display purposes. The fact that there was a phone number to call for problems with the doll makes it very possible this wasn't just a one off doll. Even if there hadn't been more than one, he may have packaged it up before Homer left the store.

Lummie

Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie - S4-E6

Corrected entry: Before the Simpsons are in their house talking about the Itchy and Scratchy Movie, there's a line of people waiting to see it that extends past their house and down numerous streets. When it shows one of the kids talking, the window behind them shows that all the people have vanished.

Correction: There is time, while Homer is in shot, for the line to have moved forward.

tw_stuart

Duffless - S4-E16

Corrected entry: When Homer enters Moes bar after one month without beer, two identical drunks are visible in one shot.

Correction: The identical drunks are very visible in several shots. It's defintely not a case of the same shot reused so they must be twins.

tw_stuart

Selma's Choice - S4-E13

Corrected entry: When Aunt Gladys Bouvier dies, she leaves her pet iguana to her sister, Jacqueline Bouvier (Marge's Mom.) If she never married as she claims, Jacqueline's maiden name would have been Bouvier, not her married name. This would also mean that Patty, Selma and Marge would not be Bouviers either.

Correction: It is customary for the wife to take the husband's last name, not mandatory. You can even switch back after a divorce or a death.

Rlvlk

Last Exit to Springfield - S4-E17

Corrected entry: When we see a flashback of Mr Burns' ancestor in 1909, he looks at atoms from someone's pocket. Actually, atoms are smaller than microscopic so it would have been impossible for him to see the atoms through a magnifying glass.

OL1V3R666

Correction: That is what is technically known as the joke... Or, to be more specific, it is obvious that the elder Burns have no idea what he is talking about, or for that matter what nuclear science is about (seeing how he has men trying to split atoms with sledgehammers). Then, when he discovers crumbs or regular pocket lint in the employee's pocket, he believes that this is the miraculous "atoms" he has heard about and assumes that this working-class lowlife has been stealing from him. Ridiculous, as everybody who knows the first things about atomic science knows, but that's what is funny in the scene.

Twotall

Tree House of Horror III: The Simpson's Halloween Special III - S4-E5

Corrected entry: In "Clown Without Pity", where the Krusty doll acts as Homer's servant, Homer says at one point "Yeah, dogs like to bury old junk", in which the Krusty doll says "Yeah, you stupid idiot.." The 'you stupid idiot' part is said with his mouth closed.

xx:xx:xx

Correction: Krusty mumbled the words "you stupid idiot" and mumbling doesn't require your mouth to fully open.

Lummie

Marge vs. the Monorail - S4-E12

Corrected entry: When Lurleen is talking to Kent Brockman, her voice is completely different than how we heard it in "Colonel Homer".

OL1V3R666

Correction: This is intentional. The hoarse, scratchy voice (along with "I spent last night in a ditch") is supposed to denote how rough her life's been since "Colonel Homer".

Xofer

Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie - S4-E6

Corrected entry: How exactly did the chair from Miss Hoover's classroom get stuck to Homer's backside? There was nothing sticky on the chair when we first saw it.

OL1V3R666

Correction: His rear end was so fat it got wedged in the seat.

Xofer

Lisa's First Word - S4-E10

Corrected entry: In one scene, when Bart is a child, he and Homer are watching Krusty and Sideshow Mel. However Sideshow Mel appeared only after Sideshow Bob was arrested, as his replacement. Krusty even mentions this in another episode, saying something like "The guy I got to replace you doesn't hold a candle to you Bob".

Correction: It is Sideshow Bob who Bart and Homer are watching. You can tell by his voice (when he grunts when he drops the weights in Krusty's show), not necessarily the fact that he has green hair, just like Sideshow Mel in the flashback. Apart from that Sideshow Bob's hair is normally in a palm tree shape, and Sideshow Mel's hair is shaped a bit like Marge's.

OL1V3R666

Season 4 generally

Corrected entry: On the series 4 DVD box set there is a message from Matt Groening. In the message he is talking about some of the episodes, and refers to "Ralph Wiggum's immortal 'Choo-Choo-Choose Me' valentine to Lisa." In actually, it was a valentine from Lisa to Ralph, and the card read "I Choo-Choo-Choose You."

Scrappy

Correction: The card does say that but Matt Groening is referring to Ralph's first words upon receiving the card which are "You choo choo choose me?"

tw_stuart

Marge in Chains - S4-E21

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the episode, where it has Troy Mclure on a TV programme, Troy Mclure has a microphone. Notice that as he walks down the orange stairs, there is a wire following him, which is attached to the microphone. When Troy reaches the bottom of the stairs the wire has now disappeared from the stairs.

xx:xx:xx

Hamster

Correction: He's out of shot for long enough to have been given another microphone. He may need to move around and doesn't want an extremely long cable dragging behind him so there's a second mic connected closer to his current position or to the position he will next move to.

tw_stuart

Lisa the Beauty Queen - S4-E4

Corrected entry: In the scene where Krusty is asking the girls questions, he reads off a cue card on what to say, but the problem is Krusty can't read.

Correction: In "Krusty Gets Busted" (season 1), we learn that Krusty can't read; however, this show takes place after that, by which point Krusty has probably learned to read somewhat (the cuecards, at least).

Xofer

Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie - S4-E6

Corrected entry: When Bart runs to the ticket booth, there is no person inside it. However, somebody appears there when he tries to buy a ticket.

Correction: The manager probably saw him coming, therefore walked out to serve him.

A Streetcar Named Marge - S4-E2

Corrected entry: When the producer asks the auditioning men to take off their shirts, he says, using French, 'D├ęshabillez votre chemise,' which is blatantly wrong, as it means 'Undress your shirt' instead of 'Take off your shirt.'

Sereenie

Correction: The producer is a pretentious fool. He probably can't actually speak French (at least not fluently), he is just trying to appear sophisticated. It is in keeping with the character that he would get the phrase wrong, and this was very possibly intentional.

J I Cohen

Lisa's First Word - S4-E10

Corrected entry: When Lisa asks what was Bart's first word Marge imagines Bart walking into Homer and Marge's room and says aye carumba. But its in the current house but Bart lived in a different house when he was younger so it is most likely he said his first word in that house.

Correction: (It is the old house. Behind Bart is a green wall, which can't be the upstairs of the new house because that has a pink wall.).

Lisa's First Word - S4-E10

Corrected entry: Even though Grandpa Simpson is younger in this episode, a picture of his older self is hanging in the Simpsons' home. Creepy.

Correction: That's a picture of HIS father. In several episodes of The Simpsons it is established that Homer will look just like Abe as he gets older, and so on down the generations.

Last Exit to Springfield - S4-E17

Corrected entry: The entire staff of the Nuclear Power Plant are meant to be on strike. The number singing in the circle around Lisa outside the plant is nowhere near big enough to run it, and other episodes show that there are many more of them. Where is everyone?

Correction: They were all on strike, they were not all picketing.

Mistakes

This is a mistake for the introduction for the later episodes. When Homer screams, he turns round. You see this in a wide shot. There are no boxes to the right of the door in the garage. However, two just appear out of thin air when he runs through the garage.

Trivia

The Simpsons holds the record for most guest stars; it is also the only non-variety show to have had appearances from three former Beatles (Paul, George and Ringo).
