The Simpsons

Marge Gets a Job - S4-E7

Corrected entry: When the woman in Krusty's studio says that the wolf gets spooked by loud noises, Krusty mentions "loud" as the day's secret word. There are video cameras in sight, indicating that it was being aired on TV. The only problem is, it's not going to be the secret word any longer if it is revealed like that.

OL1V3R666

Correction: That's the point. Its a spoof of Pee Wee's play house where if a guest said the secret word noises and lights would go off and everybody cheers and yells. It would not ruin anything because it's just a fun play along gag for the kids at home and in the studio to play and get into. I believe the secret word is reveled at the beginning to the audience, just not the guests.

Whacking Day - S4-E20

Corrected entry: At the start of the episode, Skinner says that Bart, Jimbo and Nelson have won mountain bikes. Yet when they enter the basement, Dolph and Kearney are with them, despite them not being called out.

Correction: Kearney and Dolph might have got permission to go with them. Even if they didn't, they probably would do something like skip their lesson to go with Bart, Nelson and Jimbo (they'd probably skip the lesson because they normally do bad things like that). After all, they do hang around with each other a lot, don't they?

OL1V3R666

Correction: The identical drunks are very visible in several shots. It's defintely not a case of the same shot reused so they must be twins.

Selma's Choice - S4-E13

Corrected entry: When Aunt Gladys Bouvier dies, she leaves her pet iguana to her sister, Jacqueline Bouvier (Marge's Mom.) If she never married as she claims, Jacqueline's maiden name would have been Bouvier, not her married name. This would also mean that Patty, Selma and Marge would not be Bouviers either.

Correction: It is customary for the wife to take the husband's last name, not mandatory. You can even switch back after a divorce or a death.

Rlvlk

Correction: That is what is technically known as the joke... Or, to be more specific, it is obvious that the elder Burns have no idea what he is talking about, or for that matter what nuclear science is about (seeing how he has men trying to split atoms with sledgehammers). Then, when he discovers crumbs or regular pocket lint in the employee's pocket, he believes that this is the miraculous "atoms" he has heard about and assumes that this working-class lowlife has been stealing from him. Ridiculous, as everybody who knows the first things about atomic science knows, but that's what is funny in the scene.

Twotall

Correction: This is intentional. The hoarse, scratchy voice (along with "I spent last night in a ditch") is supposed to denote how rough her life's been since "Colonel Homer".

Season 4 generally

Corrected entry: On the series 4 DVD box set there is a message from Matt Groening. In the message he is talking about some of the episodes, and refers to "Ralph Wiggum's immortal 'Choo-Choo-Choose Me' valentine to Lisa." In actually, it was a valentine from Lisa to Ralph, and the card read "I Choo-Choo-Choose You."

Scrappy

Correction: The card does say that but Matt Groening is referring to Ralph's first words upon receiving the card which are "You choo choo choose me?"

tw_stuart

Correction: In "Krusty Gets Busted" (season 1), we learn that Krusty can't read; however, this show takes place after that, by which point Krusty has probably learned to read somewhat (the cuecards, at least).

A Streetcar Named Marge - S4-E2

Corrected entry: When the producer asks the auditioning men to take off their shirts, he says, using French, 'Déshabillez votre chemise,' which is blatantly wrong, as it means 'Undress your shirt' instead of 'Take off your shirt.'

Sereenie

Correction: The producer is a pretentious fool. He probably can't actually speak French (at least not fluently), he is just trying to appear sophisticated. It is in keeping with the character that he would get the phrase wrong, and this was very possibly intentional.

J I Cohen

Correction: There are at least 2 other episodes where marge says d'oh. She says it when she finds out her mother is dating Mr Burns (Lady Bouvier's Lover) and in another episode when she is impersonating homer (Not sure of the episode).

Correction: We don't know whether the plan was restarted or not. There was enough time in between the two episodes for the union to have taken the issue up with Mr Burns and demanded it back. Much like when the union went on strike to keep the dental plan and eventually won.

Lummie

Correction: We can not actually see the hose after Homer runs it over because Homer and Bart have jumped positions and are closer to the grill, so the hose may be out of shot.

Correction: Not really a mistake. She just didn't notice it.

Correction: Matt Groening (the creator) has said that they decided to do an inside joke in the show of characters driving away too quickly, so when Homer does it, it is on purpose.

Mr. Plow - S4-E9

Corrected entry: When Barney is chasing his diaper, he turns a corner and sees his mother. However, in another episode, he says that his mother lives in Norway, which would mean that he would probably know if his mother was coming.

Correction: When Barney turns the corner he says "Hi Mum". Its presumptious to say he wouldn't know his mother was coming in from Norway or didn't know she was coming. We don't know Barney's schedule or what was going on in his life at this time. All we really know was he was down on his luck in the episode.

Lummie

Duffless - S4-E16

Corrected entry: The hamster gets electrocuted mildly by a food pellet with an electric current. However, it is an electrical insulator so it couldn't have an electric current.

OL1V3R666

Correction: It's impossible to tell what the battery is connected to. Yes it's the same shape as a food pellet but hamsters will gnaw on anything including the bars of their cages, which are metal.

tw_stuart

Correction: There may have been more than one item of this doll and the one he showed Homer was for display purposes. The fact that there was a phone number to call for problems with the doll makes it very possible this wasn't just a one off doll. Even if there hadn't been more than one, he may have packaged it up before Homer left the store.

Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie - S4-E6

Corrected entry: Before the Simpsons are in their house talking about the Itchy and Scratchy Movie, there's a line of people waiting to see it that extends past their house and down numerous streets. When it shows one of the kids talking, the window behind them shows that all the people have vanished.

Correction: There is time, while Homer is in shot, for the line to have moved forward.

tw_stuart

Correction: Krusty mumbled the words "you stupid idiot" and mumbling doesn't require your mouth to fully open.

Lummie

Correction: His rear end was so fat it got wedged in the seat.

The Simpsons mistake picture Video

Show generally

Continuity mistake: This is a mistake for the introduction from seasons 2-20 (1991-2009). When Homer screams, he turns round. You see this in a wide shot. There are no boxes to the right of the door in the garage. However, two just appear out of thin air when he runs through the garage. (00:01:50)

The Cartridge Family - S9-E5

TV Announcer: The Continental Soccer Association is coming to Springfield. It's all here: fast kicking, low scoring. And ties? You bet.
Bart: Hey Dad, how come you've never taken us to see a soccer game?
Homer: I don't know.
TV Announcer: You'll see all your favorite soccer stars. Like Arriaga, Arriaga II, Barriaga, Aruglia, and Pizzozza.
Homer: Oh, I've never heard of those people.
TV Announcer: And they'll all be signing autographs.
Homer: Woohoo!
TV Announcer: This match will determine once and for all which nation is the greatest on Earth. Mexico or Portugal.

Trivia: The only voice artists who regularly perform as only one character are Yeardley Smith as Lisa and Marcia Wallace as Edna Krabappel. Yeardley has also voiced different versions of Lisa (Lisa Jr. and Lisabella) in at least two other episodes.

Tree House of Horror V - S6-E6

Question: Homer travels back in time and causes changes by what he does in the past, like stepping on a bug. I once saw a movie with the same basic plot: some people travel back in time and are told to be careful not to disturb anything, but when they return to their time everything has changed. In the end they discover it was because they stepped on a butterfly. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

Answer: I'm not sure if this is the one you're thinking of, but an episode of "Ray Bradbury Theatre," called "A Sound of Thunder," dealt with a similar matter: a group of hunters travel back in time to hunt dinosaurs, only to find things have changed when they get back because someone stepped on a butterfly.
