Continuity mistake: When Holly and Sharon are showing the apartment to the couple, in the first exterior shot from the street, as we hear Holly's voiceover and see her in the center window, all of the window shades on the left are halfway down. In the next interior shot, the shades on the right and left side are up near the top. (00:40:15)

Continuity mistake: While William is in the shower, Holly finishes the dishes and folds the towel neatly then places it on the bowl, but that towel messes and rights itself and the utensils move in the following shots. (01:15:40)

Continuity mistake: When Holly picks up the shoe with Gerry's silver suspender clasp, the picture frame is upright with the phone behind it. When she turns the shoe around to examine it, the frame is lying flat on its back, with the phone in front of it. (01:38:00)

Continuity mistake: When the dry cleaning arrives and Holly lays it out on the table, right behind her is the large flip-over wall hanging, with a picture of balloons. When she pulls the leather jacket out of the plastic, the wall hanging is flipped open to a picture of a bird. (00:53:10)

Continuity mistake: At karaoke, in the flashback, when Gerry is on stage asking, "Who wants a shot?" he's holding a drink in his right hand. Next shot, facing the audience, he's pointing to individuals with his empty right hand, but next shot the glass is back in his hand. (00:43:50)

Revealing mistake: When Holly is in bed with William, and then finds out that he is 'Billy from the band', just as she pulls away from him to bolt out of bed, the modesty top she wears is quickly seen.

Continuity mistake: Having just arrived at the house in Ireland, when Sharon is about to walk into the kitchen, in the shot facing the sink we can see the vase of flowers on the wood table, right beside the envelope. In the shot facing Sharon there is a white tablecloth under the vase. (01:01:40)

Revealing mistake: In the exterior shot of Air Force One and its accompanying jets in the air, just before the shot of David getting nauseous aboard Air Force One, something suddenly comes up along the entire bottom edge of the screen. This is only visible on fullscreen DVD. (01:08:10)
Suggested correction: That is another jet guarding Air Force One.

Revealing mistake: At Area 51, when the president's entourage fire their guns at the alien, the stunt wires attached to its upper body are visible, pulling the alien backwards. These stunt wires have nothing to do with Dr. Okun's medical equipment.

Continuity mistake: Aboard Air Force One, when David feels nauseous there is a telephone between his seat and his father's, whose cord gets twisted between shots, though it hasn't been touched.

Revealing mistake: The following take place in F/A-18s. After Jimmy says, "I got you covered, big daddy," there is a close-up of his gloved hand as his thumb presses the launch button. Later, when President Whitmore fires his last missile (with negative impact) there is a close-up as his thumb presses the launch button, and then a minute later there is a close-up of Russell's hand as he presses the launch button (resulting in launch failure). The last two close-ups are the very same shot as shown earlier, only the last two shots are flipped the other way. (00:57:25 - 02:04:00)

Continuity mistake: In the interior shot, when Jasmine tries to explain why she doesn't want Steven to leave she pulls open the white curtains, to view the alien ship through the window (the window closest to the door), and as Steven walks out the front door she stands by that open window. Then when it cuts to the exterior shot, in an instant that window's brown venetian blinds are now down and the white curtains are drawn closed, as Steven walks down the lawn.

Continuity mistake: When Russell boards the F/A-18 and when he is airborne - such as when he salutes Major Mitchell (who is back at command center), he wears his Hawaiian style short-sleeve shirt and is gloveless. After he says, "Eagle 20, Fox 2," in the close-up as he presses the launch button (resulting in launch failure), the arm shown wears both a green jumpsuit and gloves, neither of which Russell actually wears.

Visible crew/equipment: When President Whitmore, General Grey and the rest return to the containment lab to see the live alien, Major Mitchell stands directly in front of the smoke filled lab and the camera equipment/crew are visible in the reflection on the glass. President Whitmore, General Grey and a few others are supposed to be the only ones in front of the three aliens' liquid chambers. (Only visible on fullscreen DVD.)

Visible crew/equipment: After General Grey shows the nuclear missile and launch mechanism to Steven and David, when Connie asks, "Why you?", in the next shot just as a woman in a white lab coat passes David, his yellow actor's mark is visible on the floor at his feet. Visible crew/equipment: When President Whitmore returns to the containment lab to see the live alien, just as Major Mitchell and a Secret Service Agent walk to face the smoke filled lab, the actor's mark is visible on the ground as the Agent steps up to it. (Only visible on fullscreen DVD.)

Continuity mistake: When General Grey tells the President not to engage until they have visual, in the President's close-up the exterior of this F/A-18 Hornet is quite different than what was shown in the earlier shot, as the canopy closed over him. All the rivets around the canopy have disappeared and the 'danger' triangle is much closer to the name Patrick, the seat differs, etc. Plus the fact that the canopy and hull are actually one unit in the second shot. Continuity mistake: When the alien aircraft settles over New York, there is a taxi cab driver that stops to look, and the truck behind actually hits it twice. Also, there is a parked yellow school bus which the front half of the taxi passes in the wideshot, but in the close-up, when the driver gets out, the taxi is actually much farther back, the bus is gone, just take note of the gate in the background. Visible crew/equipment: When Dr. Okun leads President Whitmore, General Grey, David and the rest to see, as he put it, "The big tamale," the red actor's mark is visible at the top of the landing as they all walk up the ramp. (Only visible on fullscreen DVD.)
