Dumb and Dumber (1994)

Corrected entry: When Lloyd and Harry are in the hotel room watching TV, they are crying while watching a phone company commercial. The commercial is for Pacific Bell. They are in Aspen. Colorado was a Mountain Bell state (that is to say, back when the phone company in Colorado was still known as "Mountain Bell"). It makes no sense that a "Pacific Bell" commercial would air in Colorado.

Correction: Most of the very, very expensive "deluxe presidential suites" come standard with "Satellite Television Programming" for the TV set. They could have easily been watching a program that was broadcast originally on the coast. Furthermore, some "basic cable" packages include channels from other states as well. For example, I get WGN programming from Chicago on my basic cable, even though I live over 500 miles from there.

Unbreakable (2000)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson first meet at the stadium the man Bruce Willis suspects of carrying a weapon is wearing a camouflage coat. In the following scene where Samuel L. Jackson follows the suspect, he is again wearing a camouflage coat, but there are suddenly much brighter colours on it. (00:36:55)

Correction: Actually, when we see the man in the camo jacket the first time, he is in the shade, as he is standing in line underneath the overhang on the stadium. The next time we see him, when Elijah spots him, he is in broad daylight, and the jacket thus appears brighter. Also, it goes back to looking dull again when Elijah sees him jump the subway turnstile, as he is now again where the sun is no longer shining on him.

Corrected entry: In the scene where they're crossing a small river we can see Heather Donahue stepping on the log, beginning her way. The one who is shooting her uses a black and white camera (they had two cameras: a small color camera and a big black and white for their movie) and he already crossed the water, so Heather is approaching. Seconds later we see Donahue from behind, already on the destination side and we see it in black and white. But the person with this camera has already crossed the river.

Correction: The dialogue states that she is going to make several trips to "go back and forth" to get the tent/gear across. The second shot of her from behind is still being taken from the "destination" side of the river, she is just returning back to the original side for more equipment. Since the movie is a collection of cut scenes, no continuity mistake is made either.

Speed (1994)

Corrected entry: When the police are staking out the 'drop', how come not one of them manages to catch Howard Payne getting Annie and escaping down the hole under the bin, with the money, despite the fact that the bin is being watched from every angle?

Correction: There are about a hundred cops on the scene, so he disguises himself as a police officer, knowing that they won't realize he is not really one, since many precints were likely involved in such a massive task of watching the trash can from "all" angles. That is why no one notices him. As for the hole, he didn't drop through it, he went to the subway to retreive the money that "fell through" the hole from underneath! That was the point of having the hole in the first place, so that the officers would think the money was in the trash can, while he was able to collect it from underneath undetected, and make his getaway.

Apollo 13 (1995)

Corrected entry: Many times in the movie, the Capcom refers to the CM and LM by their individual call signs, "Odyssey" and "Aquarius." In real life, those call signs would only be used when the LM had separated from the CM for a lunar landing. While the two ships were docked, as they were in this case for the entire mission, the single call sign "Apollo 13" would be used instead.

Correction: While this is true for a "routine" mission, Apollo 13 was not a mission anymore once it became "an emergency" situation. Remember that Lovell and his team had to use the Lunar Module as a "lifeboat" to survive the trip home. They don't refer to the Odyssey and the Aquarius separately until after the explosion. On a normal mission, the lunar module would not be attached to the SM or the CSM for the return trip. Using the call signs as opposed to similar sounding terms LM, SM, and CSM was also done to avoid confusion for the astronauts, as everything they had to do to get home was an unorthodox method that had never been attempted before, and the cold and lack of sleep was making it harder for them to concentrate.

The Shining (1980)

Corrected entry: Dick Hallorann approaches The Overlook in his Snow cat and as he first spots the hotel there are tracks where there should be none, in the snow ahead of him. No other vehicles have been up there, so they must be from a previous take. (02:04:40)

????

Correction: He is on the mountain road that "leads" to the Overlook, but there is no reason other places are along this same access road wouldn't exist. It seems perfectly reasonable that anyone else living in that area would have to have a means of transportation as well, or else they would be stranded for months at a time.

Liar Liar (1997)

Corrected entry: When Fletcher is chasing the plane on the flight of stairs and is trying to get the pilot's attention, the pilot says that they are clear for take-off. But wouldn't the control tower have informed them prior to that statement that they can't take off yet because someone is chasing them on a flight of stairs which would delay the take-off?

Correction: Obviously this was not the case. The tower may have been unaware that the stairs were taken, and it is only a minute or two that the plane is cleared from the time he took them. Also, the pilots report it to the tower, and decide not to take off, so the crisis is averted anyways.

The Descent (2005)

Corrected entry: When the girls rap down to the base of the entry hole, no one has a Dewalt hammer drill hanging off their harness. At the traverse across the first hole Becca lugs one across which disappears in future scenes.

jACKAROOBEAR

Correction: The extra equipment is in a bag that one of the girls is carrying. It's the same bag that they lose when the cave-in happens. However, they did retrieve a few items from the bag before it was lost, including the hammer.

The Sandlot (1993)

Corrected entry: During the chase scene, the baseball in Benny's hand keeps changing from left to right. He wouldn't have a reason for switching the ball while running from a dog.

Correction: Why not? He is seen using his hand to brace himself when he jumps over an object, as well as when he lands. Reflexes would cause him to use his dominant hand to brace himself, so he could have switched the ball for that reason. Furthermore, every time the switch is seen, he had plenty of time off-screen to make the switch, so no continuity mistake is made either.

Corrected entry: In the beginning when Kimberly is driving she passes a car with a kid and a father in. Look at the kid, he is playing with two toys, a red SUV and a dirty truck. He is holding them up and banging them together. Kimberly is driving a red SUV and it's a dirty great truck that causes the accident.

pierpp

Correction: This is hardly trivia. It is a crucial point of the plot that pertains to her premonition. The audience is supposed to get this the first time, and most, if not all, do notice this right off.

Corrected entry: Near to the end of the film, Dr Chafee arrives to the barn carrying a single bomb hidden inside a suitcase. The bomb finally explodes, however, in the shot from the outside there are three sequential explosions on different parts of the barn.

Correction: So? Once the initial explosion from the suitcase is set off, anything else flammable or combustible will ignite or explode when the fire reaches it. Things such as kerosene, gasoline, liquid fertilizer.....all items that would be normal to store in a barn.

Clue (1985)

Corrected entry: The house has two guard dogs that bark when Mr. Body tries to escape, but then they just stop barking. Guard dogs are supposed to bark when people come. They don't when J. Edgar Hoover comes and you don't hear them when the singing telegram girl gets shot. Guard dogs would be heard.

Correction: We see the guard dogs outside a window when Mr. Body tries to escape out the greenhouse, so it is shown that the dogs have free roam of the property, and are not chained to one place. As such, they simply might not have been near the front door of this huge mansion when the telegram girl arrived. As for J. Edgar Hoover, he never showed up at the house, he only made a phone call. The FBI agent is the one in the hat and beard, and one of the dozens of policemen could have removed the dogs if they were causing him trouble.

Corrected entry: After the scene where Stryker tells the old lady about the trial after the crash, he is holding a purple cup. Before he started telling the story there was no cup to be seen. (00:23:45)

Correction: Well, if he is "telling" the entire story of what we "see" taking place in court, he had plenty of time to have a drink served to him. Just because we don't see him getting it, doesn't mean it's a mistake. This simply marks the passage of time, indicated by the fact that he had time to get the drink.

Airplane (1980)

Corrected entry: Elaine says that they should think about the plans they made before the war. Elaine and Ted met in the bar during the war when Ted was a pilot (and broke up after it).

Correction: She isn't referring to plans "they made together" before the war, she just says "plans before" the war. She is meaning that they had plans before the war seperately, such as falling in love, career choices, etc...she simply means she is ready to start doing things she wanted to do before she met him, and before the war started.

Robocop (1987)

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the film, Lewis brings in an insanely violent prisoner - even though he is handcuffed, he is violent and out of control. At least a dozen male cops watch her struggling with him at the risk of serious injury and not one does a thing to help her! In real life he'd be face down on the floor underneath three or four hefty officers in a second - and remember, in this film the police are even more heavy-handed than in real life.

Correction: This is, at best, a character mistake based on their decision to not help her. According to the plot, however, her fellow male officers know she has proven herself their equal, including in how tough she is. They simply knew she could handle this one handcuffed prisoner, and likely enjoyed watching him get his butt kicked by a woman.

Corrected entry: When Annie and Alex are boarding the Sebourn Legend for the first time, they are approached by Dante, the cruise photographer. He takes a posed shot of them, but when Alex and Annie are walking away from him up the stairs, he keeps taking pictures of the backs of their heads! What kind of professional photographer would waste film on utterly useless shots?

Correction: Character mistake at best, but not really even that. He is attracted to Annie so much that he keeps taking them, possibly for his own personal benefit. Also, anyone who has ever gone on a cruise knows that photographers taking an insane amount of pictures of the same people is quite common, and they charge a hefty price for them. Wasting a few shots would not be out of line for him at all.

Corrected entry: When Moaning Myrtle is in the bathtub with Harry, she doesn't cause the water to move, which would seem acceptable considering she is a ghost. However, when she dives into the toilet in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, she causes an almighty splash.

Correction: Being a ghost, she can "choose" to either pass through an object, or interact with it. This being the case, she does not have to be shown interacting with anything unless she wants to. When she makes the almighty splash, she was upset. This is similar to a child slamming a door when angry, to make a point that they are not happy.

Batman Begins (2005)

Corrected entry: When a company goes public, the directors always ensure that only 49% of the shares are actually available to the public, so that the directors - having the other 51% - will always retain control of the firm. Given this, if Bruce Wayne sold his original stake in Wayne Enterprises, it would have been impossible for him to buy back enough shares on the public market to give him control of the company, no matter how much he had to spend - the required number of shares just wouldn't have been available.

Moose

Correction: Bruce is the heir to the company, and therefore he owns 49% of the stock. He sells "a majority" of them to corporations that turn out to still be affiliated with him, and the directors sell their shares to small companies, which are also affiliated with Bruce. As such, at the end, Bruce still retained his 49%, as well as more than enough of the other director's shares to make up more than 51% of the company.

Happy Gilmore (1996)

Corrected entry: When the tower falls right in front of Happy's ball, you can see that everything falls off. However, a news camera seems to be bolted to the tower because it dose not even budge when the tower is falling.

Correction: That's because it is, in fact, secured to the tower. Standard safety procedures require that all persons as well as heavy equipment must be secured above certain heights to prevent falling injuries. These can be either falling from a high point, or being struck by falling debris.
