Continuity mistake: As Satisfaction plays in the background, Lance is holding on to a white tow cord as he skis. Earlier as they pull out of Hau Phat we see him holding a blue tow cord before he unwraps his new water skis. Thirty seconds later in another shot he is holding the blue tow cord. (01:15:05)

Continuity mistake: Leaving Hau Phat Clean tells the guys a story about a, "cat in the Delta" and Lance picks up his new water skies then puts them back down again while still holding on to them. In the next shot he's not touching them anymore. (01:12:30)

Continuity mistake: There's a shot of two injured soldiers in wheelchairs sitting front row dead center as playmate of the year Carrie Foster is brought out to the audience. There's another soldier crouching between them who disappear between shots. (01:07:50)

Continuity mistake: The next day as the boat leaves the USO show at Hau Phat to continue up the river we see the battered stage from the back of the boat. The boat passes the stage by about 100 feet but in the next shot its back right next to the stage. (01:11:25)

Continuity mistake: As Clean tries to get some fuel the sergeant says, "Eight bucks for that camera" and Captain Willard grabs him by the throat and pulls him over the desk. At first the Captain has a cigarette in his mouth than in the next shot he doesn't. (01:05:00)

Continuity mistake: After Captain Willard grabs him the sergeant says, "Would you guys like some seats". If you look at the sergeant's desk one of the two flashlights has fallen and the pencils in the pencil holder are rearranged without anyone going near them. (01:05:45)

Continuity mistake: Just after Captain Willard grabs the sergeant by the throat his cigarette appears back in his mouth between shots, than disappears again in the next shot as he walks away. (01:05:40)

Continuity mistake: As they approach the USO show at Hau Phat, Clean has a very large zit on the left of his chin. Later in this scene as he's speaking to the sergeant about getting some fuel it's gone. (01:03:30 - 01:04:55)

Other mistake: Captain Willard hears the drumming as they approach the USO show at Hau Phat. He's sweating profusely but they don't put any sweat on Chief Phillips, Lance or Clean who, in the same heat, are bone dry. (01:03:15)

Revealing mistake: In a close-up of Captain Willard's face as he reads about Kurtz' "Operation Archangel" the sweat droplets on the band-aid are exactly the same as the droplets on his skin. The droplets were obviously sprayed on his face as Band-aids don't sweat. (01:02:50)

Continuity mistake: As Chef and Captain Willard walk through the jungle we get a couple of good close-ups of the band-aid on his cheek and it's different between shots. In the close-up when he first hears the tiger, the right side of the band-aid is pointing towards the top of his ear lobe. Then just seconds before the tiger attacks we see it pointing directly into the middle of his ear. (00:57:50 - 00:58:45)

Continuity mistake: On the boat Captain Willard reads newspaper clippings about Colonel Kurtz' and thinks to himself, "38 fucking years old." He is sweating profusely, with sweat dripping off of his face and neck. However, his right hand is perfectly dry when he lifts a flashlight and moments later a cigarette. (01:01:00 - 01:02:50)

Continuity mistake: Lance wants the surfboard out of his gun turret so Captain Willard pulls it straight up with both hands. In the next shot he's got the surfboard under his arm. (00:54:45)

Continuity mistake: On the boat they offer a joint to Captain Willard who approaches them clean-shaven and dry. He wants nothing to do with them and goes back to his work but in the next shot he's dripping wet and needs a shave. (00:52:30)

Continuity mistake: As they pull Colonel Kilgore's surfboard into the boat it's sitting sideways on the railing of the boat. Then in the next shot the tail fin is back in the water. (00:51:30)

Continuity mistake: On the boat after leaving Kilgore Chef lights up a joint and hands it to Lance who holds it between his thumb and index finger. In the next shot it's between his 1st and 2nd fingers as he offers it to the Captain. (00:52:25)

Continuity mistake: Captain Willard and Lance run away from Lieutenant Col. Kilgore and the captain says, "get the f&% outta here". As this happens a helicopter is flying towards the colonel and two soldiers are helping an injured soldier. The camera cuts away for three seconds then back to a wide shot of the colonel again and the helicopter and the injured soldier have disappeared. (00:51:00)

Continuity mistake: As Captain Willard tries to get Lance away from Colonel Kilgore the band-aid on his right cheek angles upward as it nears his eye. Later we see it up close as they pull him into the boat with the surfboard and it does not angle upward but goes straight across his face. (00:50:40 - 00:51:45)

Visible crew/equipment: As he looks out to the surfers Lt. Col. Kilgore says, "It's gonna blow this place out, it's gonna ruin it… it's the napalm that's what's doing it" and a mortar shell soon explodes in the water. If you look closely behind the surfer on the left you can see the explosive device floating in the water before the explosion. (00:50:15)

Continuity mistake: Before Colonel Kilgore looks at Captain Willard and says, "Someday this war's gonna end," the Vietnamese women and the soldier waving behind him to his left have moved between shots. (00:49:45)
