Question: How come there are jugs beside all the beds in the hospital wing?

Answer: Presumably, the jugs are for the patients. Many of them will come into the hospital wing with injuries or fevers and will have to stay for a period of time, so the jugs are put there so they can stay hydrated while recovering.

Casual Person

Answer: They are water pitchers that can be filled whenever a patient is in the bed. It's just a convenience to have drinking water handy when needed. It's fairly typical in most hospitals.

raywest

It's also handy for Madam Pomfrey to simply use the water charm to fill it quickly if it's on hand as suggested.

La La Land (2016)

Question: At the pool, a band takes song requests from a crowd. Mia requests a song titled "I Ran." It seems like Sebastian got offended by that. He even complains about it to Mia after the performance. I don't know about the song. What's wrong with that song? I'm curious.

Bunch Son

Answer: He was mainly deflecting. When they first met, Sebastian ran away from Mia. So when she requested "I Ran", she was teasing him. He was already playing in an 80's cover band, knew the song, and was playing a keytar, which is a very 80's synth pop instrument. The band A Flock of Seagulls (who sang "I Ran") were an 80's synth pop band. She was saying how rude he was when they first met and he was trying to come up with something to say she was being rude about.

Bishop73

Answer: Sebastian views himself as a "serious musician" whose real passion in life is playing jazz, and thinks that that form of music is dying out. He doesn't take joy in playing mainstream, well known 80s pop songs; they're not his preferred style and probably doesn't consider them to be "real music" (Kind of like how Martin Scorsese said Marvel movies weren't "real cinema").

La La Land (2016)

Question: When Sebastian and Mia were about to kiss in the theater, the lights suddenly turned on and the movie stopped. Why? (00:54:10 - 00:54:33)

Bunch Son

Answer: The projector broke. The lights came on so that the staff could come in and tell everyone what happened.

Question: Why does Obi-Wan want to watch over Luke, but nobody needs to watch Leia?

Answer: Leia was placed into the care of a very wealthy family, and would be given protection 24/7. Luke, on the other hand, was placed into the care of a very secluded home and a poor family, with almost little to no protection from outside dangers. Luke would have been more at risk if the Empire found out who he was.

Casual Person

Answer: Incidentally, this question is kind of being addressed in the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

General questions

Looking for the title of a movie where Olivia D'Abo played a figure skater - she had Keanu Reeves for a co-star.

Answer: You're probably thinking of "Ice Castles," starring Lynn-Holly Johnson and Robby Benson. The look alikes to Olivia and Keanu. There is a remake but don't know who is in the cast.

Answer: This could be Flying (https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0091065/), a movie from 1986 that starred both Keanu Reeves and Olivia D'Abo. However, Olivia D'Abo in this movie is a gymnast, not a figure skater.

Question: When did Martian Manhunter get to Earth, why did he assume Martha Kent's identity, and where is she during Justice League?

Rob245

Answer: Martian Manhunter is played by Harry Lennix, who also plays General Swanwick, a character who appears in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman (and we can see he transforms back into Swanwick he leaves), revealing that Swanwick was Martian Manhunter the whole time, so the indication is he got to Earth before Man of Steel. He assumed Martha's identity to speak with Lois, specifically to have a heart to heart with her as she is depressed due to Clark's death. Martha is present every other time we see her, when she leaves the Kent home at the beginning and when she reunites with Clark later on. This scene was the only time Martian Manhunter used her identity.

Question: Why does Rufus send Bill and Ted off on their own, instead of going with them and helping them?

Answer: The adventure wasn't just about helping Bill and Ted with their essay. It was also about helping Bill and Ted achieve independence, which would later contribute to their reputations in the future. If Rufus just told them exactly what to do, they likely wouldn't have learned to achieve their independence in the same way. They needed to learn it for themselves.

Question: So when we see Cheetah again she's sitting there seemingly human once more. Does she still have her other powers?

Rob245

Answer: She feels sad for letting her personal fears and greed for power consume her. As for getting home, like Robert Shaw said at the end of Force Ten from Navarone, "We have a very long walk back home."

Answer: The way I interpreted the ending (which is up for debate obviously in a different forum) was it was the act of Max Lord renouncing his wish which caused Barbara to lose her cheetah powers. It also caused every other unrenounced wish to be lost. Barbara wouldn't have been able to hear the broadcast or Wonder Woman telling the world to renounce their wish (it would also explains how all the wishes were rescinded without everyone having to be listening to Max). It's unclear if she lost her initial wish though (to be more like Diana). It's possible we'll find out what happened to her in a follow up Wonder Woman/Justice League film, but I highly doubt it.

Bishop73

Answer: No. When everyone in the world all renounced their wish, Barbara renouncing her wish would have resulted in her losing both her Cheetah powers and the ability to be more like Diana.

Casual Person

Well then why does she look sad for having done the right thing and how's she going to get home?

Rob245

Sad because she's lost her powers, her getting home is her problem and not plot-relevant.

Question: What happened to the real Sean Fentress?

Answer: He died in the train bombing along with all the other passengers. If you're asking what happened to the real Sean Fentress in the alternate time line created at the end of the movie, Colter took over his body and continued to live the life that Fentress had been living.

Question: What does the skeleton bar joke Jack's uncle says mean? Was it just supposed to be nonsense and not make sense?

Answer: The joke in its entirety is "Skeleton goes into a bar. Orders a beer, and a mop." What the joke means is, since the skeleton is just bones and has no body, the beer would just pass through the skeleton's body and then spill all over the floor when it tried to drink. The skeleton would then have to use the mop to clean up the spilled beer.

Question: Alfred comes up to Bruce who is examining print dust on the safe after his mother's necklace was stolen. Alfred says to him "This is your idea of sounding the alarm, is it?" What does he mean? I don't understand this line.

Bunch Son

Chosen answer: The reason why Alfred says "This is your idea of sounding the alarm" is specifically because Bruce has not sounded the alarm. From Alfred's point of view, he has been told by Bruce that they have been robbed, but the only thing Bruce is doing is examine the safe for fingerprints. He found it odd that Bruce's idea of trying to find the culprit was looking for fingerprints and not actually sounding the alarm and having the place locked down so that they can find the burglar.

Casual Person

Answer: I watched the clip. Hermione does not appear to be smiling, though if she is, she is probably reacting to Ron's usual hyperbolic reaction to many situations. Hermione had said his leg looked "painful," so Ron then exaggerates, saying they might have to "chop it," as a means to elicit more sympathy. Both know the injury is not that serious.

raywest

Answer: Based on the way Hermoine's head is positioned in the shot, it's kind of hard to tell. Though a closer look will show that she does smile a bit after Ron says "They might chop it", just before the shot cuts. She likely found Ron's belief that he might lose his leg to be somewhat amusing. In the following shot, when Harry approaches Sirius, Hermoine can be heard off-screen saying "I'm sure Madam Pomfrey will fix it in a heartbeat", so she must have thought he was worrying about it too much.

National Treasure (2004)

Question: How did Ben manage to fool the fingerprint scanner?

Answer: He took Abigail's fingerprints from a glass that she was holding. When he put his thumb up against the fingerprint scanner, it was actually Abigail's fingerprint that was being scanned, so the scanner was tricked into thinking that Abigail was trying to enter the room and not Ben.

Casual Person

I think Ben would have a hard time fooling the fingerprint scanner since the scanner analyzes not only your fingerprint but your blood pressure, and body temperature.

Would his body temperature and blood pressure be different from Abigail's?

Question: In the scene, where Lenny informs Homer that they're giving away free donuts at the shop and that they're going very fast, why didn't Homer ask Lenny to save him some? If he did and Lenny agreed, Homer wouldn't have to hurry up nor dump silo in the lake, thus the dome situation could have been avoided.

Answer: Homer has been known not to make the smartest decisions, and the decisions he does make, he makes without fully thinking them through. Clearly he wanted to get some donuts as quickly as possible without thinking of any other ways, so he decided to ditch the silo in the lake as it would be the fastest way of getting it off his back, even if it's not the smartest. Also, putting that aside, he likely wanted his own pick of the donuts rather than have Lenny guess what he wanted.

Answer: The two agents are not named (their names are listed as "Agent Two" and "Agent One" in the end credits), but it is strongly implied that they work for MI7, as one of them says "Five years ago, he was our top agent", referring to Johnny English, who works for MI7. Their faces are hidden, but the important information is told to us; that they work for MI7.

Question: When Officer Blake leaves Wayne Manor after telling Bruce Wayne that he knows he is Batman and that funding has stopped to the Smithens Boys' Home, Bruce asks Alfred "Have you run that name? Bane?" and Alfred responds with his findings. How did Bruce hear of Bane in the first place? Nowhere prior in the movie is Bane ever mentioned to Bruce. It's not mentioned by Selina Kyle, by Officer Blake and there is no news media mentioning anything. How did Bruce come-about asking Alfred to run Bane's name in the first place? (00:29:22)

Answer: Officer Blake does mention the name Bane to Bruce when visiting him (Blake says Gordon was babbling about an army and a masked man named Bane). That seemed to be his primary purpose coming over, to get Batman to help fight Bane. When Blake is at the door about to leave, the scene cuts to him outside walking to his car, so we don't know how much time passes. And while we don't see Alfred, it was possible he was listening. I don't know if there was a cut scene, but in the film it does seem there's meant to be enough time for Alfred to do a quick check on the name.

Bishop73

Answer: Officer Blake did in fact mention Bane to him, in the conversation that they just had. At the start of the conversation, Bruce asks "What can I do for you, officer", then Blake tells him Commissioner Gordon's been shot. After saying that, Blake says "He chased a gunman down into the sewers. When I pulled him out, he was babbling about an underground army. A masked man called Bane." That was how Bruce found out about Bane. (This line is said at 00:26:47).
