Continuity mistake: When the group of men are trying to bury Killian alive, Simon runs up and attempts to stop them. In the above shot when Simon first runs up to them, the man holding the torch places his arm over Simon's upper chest. In the next shot, his arm is over Simon's stomach. Then two shots after that, his arm is over Simon's upper chest again. (02:18:35)

Continuity mistake: When Killian and Basila are standing on the beach preparing for their wedding ceremony, Basila spreads paint over Killian's neck, shoulder and arms. In the shot where she says "It's not valid before the law", there is some paint on Killian's cheek and it is mixed in with the paint on his neck. When the shot cuts, the only paint on his cheek is a tiny smear, and it is completely separate from the paint on his neck. (02:30:02)

Continuity mistake: In 1960, when Killian is speaking with Julia in the shop, the shot after Killian says "I don't know" after being asked if Jacobo is coming back, the baby Julia is holding has her left hand over her mouth. The shot then cuts to a wider shot of the room and the baby's hand is now away from her mouth. (01:31:55)

Continuity mistake: When Killian is in the car with Julia and Bisila and are about to approach the soldiers blocking the road, in one shot his hand can be seen placed on top of the steering wheel. Continuity mistake: When Bisila is speaking to Julia about a friend of hers named Gustavo who came to the church, after Julia tells her he was arrested months ago, the camera cuts to a shot focusing on Bisila. Continuity mistake: When Clarence attempts to speak with Simon in the barn, in the shot where she says "Ask him if he's Simon" to Iniko, her ponytail can be seen going over her left and right shoulder. In the next shot, her ponytail can only be seen over her left shoulder. Then in the shot after that, her ponytail is entirely behind her head. Then it's over her left shoulder again, then away from her shoulder. (01:21:30)

Continuity mistake: When Clarence is on the dance floor with Iniko, he places his hand over Clarence's eyes. Clarence then places her fingers flat over Iniko's hand. Then it cuts to a wider shot where Clarence's fingers are at a far more curled angle. Then her fingers are flat on Iniko's hand two shots later. (01:11:40)

Continuity mistake: When Killian is speaking with his father in the port after arriving, after his father says "Welcome to your birthplace, son", Killian readjusts the bag strap he has over his right shoulder with his left hand. In the next shot, his hand is suddenly off the strap and then goes to readjust it a second time. Then in the shot after that, his hand is off the strap completely. (00:13:17)

In the close-up shot of the turtle being picked up, some sand can be seen getting stuck in one of Killian's fingernails. The cheese stick is at a straight angle whilst he begins to eat it, but when the shot cuts, the cheese stick is suddenly at a bent angle.
