Other mistake: After Shultz herds the prisoners into the barracks, Hogan opens the door and motions to Newkirk in the tank to get going. Problem is, there are no side viewports for Newkirk to see Hogan, and it looks like he motions to the camera. Also, Shultz is at the wrong end of the building to see the tank go into the end of the barracks.Movie Nut
Other mistake: Klink has on his monocle, as usual. If you look closely, the monocle is a single lens, with no frame. From Episode 2 onward, the monocle has a frame and a gallery. Also, Klink wears it at an angle, not unlike the Penguin in the original Batman series, who also wore a monocle without a frame.
Factual error: When the men are lined up to take the strongboxes of gold to switch with bricks, each man in line easily hefts and tosses them to the next man. Gold bricks weigh over 27.5 pounds (12.4kg) apiece. If there 10 bricks per box (going by the size of the boxes), then that comes to 275 pounds per box, plus the weight of the box, which these guys are tossing around without a problem.Movie Nut
Revealing mistake: During the attack with crossbow, look closely at the arrow in the door. You hear the sound of the arrow hitting the door, then see the (now skewered) hat shaking on the arrow. If viewed closely, you see a black thread pulling on the arrow. Also, the arrow is almost straight before the break, then it is down at an angle when Shultz is called in.Movie Nut
Continuity mistake: After the POWs cut the stairs outside Col. Klink's office, Sgt. Schultz walks down them. There is a guard standing to his right. After a switch to show the POWs, when the camera goes back to the stairs, Col. Klink walks out and falls when the stairs collapse. The guard is missing without making any motion to move before. When everybody rushes to Col.Klink, the guard runs in from the left also.
Continuity mistake: Episode 3 of season 1, "Kommandant of the Year": At least twice while the characters are under the large tarp around the rocket, there are at least three control panels visible. After the rocket fires and they show the general walking toward the people, behind him is the rocket trailer with only the tarp on it and no control panels.
Character mistake: As Stauffen parts company with Col. Hogan at the road checkpoint, he salutes Hogan. While that is understandable under the circumstances - after all Hogan just saved his life, it would also be highly suspicious. Both Schultz and Stauffen's adjutant were watching them, so it can't be said they did it surreptitiously either. After all, Stauffen is a German general whereas Hogan is an allied prisoner officer of inferior rank. For an officer of higher rank to initiate the salute is a demonstration of great respect and/or thanks, which, as far as anyone besides Stauffen and Hogan knew, was not warranted in this situation.Doc
Other mistake: When the General arrives at Camp 13 and is greeted by Klink, he notices Hogan and ask Klink who he is. Klink only says he's the Senior POW, the General sends his Aide to get Hogan. The Aide addresses Hogan by name, but Klink never said Hogan's name. (00:07:40)norbertdx
Factual error: The medal Newkirk steals from the German officer in the pub is a Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. There were a total of 148 presentations, most of them 1943-45. By 1942 (where the series is apparently set), less than 25 had been presented. That Newkirk should actually stumble across a wearer by pure chance is highly unlikely, that the wearer should actually "never miss it" as Newkirk states, is plainly impossible. Being the fourth highest ranking military decoration of the Wehrmacht, it would have been missed almost immediately - if not by the wearer himself, then by his fellow officers. (00:22:35)Doc
