Passions (1999)

Show generally

Revealing mistake: On 12/26/03, Ethan tells Woody that he doesn't want people to know that they're there together. But throughout their conversation, Ethan constantly turns directly towards Woody and speaks with him quite loudly. Woody is practically hanging out of his seat as he leans towards Ethan. Every couple of scenes, Ethan reiterates the need for discretion, but neither of them does anything about it. It's really not that hard to talk out the side of your mouth while sitting back to back.

Passions (1999)

Show generally

Revealing mistake: On 12/24/03 and 12/25/03, Sheridan is supposed to be breastfeeding baby Martin. But Sheridan's shirt is barely unbuttoned, and pulled aside only marginally (and mostly from the opposite side of where the baby is). For his part, the baby is not even turned towards Sheridan's body. So, the way the scenes are shot, there's no way he could be nursing.

Other mistake: On 12/25/03, everybody is making a big deal about how Sheridan is breastfeeding Martin, and how this will save the baby's life because he's finally feeding. But the baby's problem was never that it was refusing to eat, but rather that it could not absorb nutrition. The baby was previously fed a nutrient solution with all the same nutrients found in breast milk, and he consumed it, but didn't absorb the nutrients. Eve doesn't have any medical equipment with her at the church, so even if the baby really is absorbing the nutrition, she would have no way to determine that right there while it's happening.

Continuity mistake: Whitney and Fox scooped Little Ethan out of bed, and carried him out of the bedroom wearing his pajamas. But after church they brought him to Theresa's house, and he was wearing dress clothes. Fox and Whitney's clothes were different, too.

Plot hole: Theresa was convicted of murdering Julian Crane. But then Julian was discovered to have survived the shooting, and Theresa reversed her story and claimed that she only confessed to protect Ethan, whom she incorrectly believed to be the killer. Yet the investigation was never re-opened. I mean, I know Julian didn't actually die, but most police departments don't take very kindly to armed assault, either.

Passions (1999)

Show generally

Plot hole: As of December, 2003, there seems to be no reason for Fox to not tell Whitney how he feels about her. Chad is out of the picture, and Whitney is enjoying her time with Fox. At the very least, he could ask her out on a date; all indications are that she'd certainly say yes. Instead, for no apparent reason, they're dragging out the storyline where Whitney thinks Fox is in love with Theresa and he won't tell her that he's really in love with her.

Passions (1999)

Show generally

Plot hole: Sam seems inordinately amazed when Ivy gets out of her wheelchair on 12/24/03. A full year prior to that, she got out of the chair and danced with Sam at their son's wedding. Although that was detrimental to her recovery at the time, it seems that the incident was immediately forgotten, rather than everybody expecting her to be able to walk again soon.

Tru Calling (2003)

Morning After - S1-E7

Continuity mistake: When Tru and Harrison talk on the phone near the beginning of the day's second incarnation, it is pouring rain where Harrison is, and he's standing under an awning. It's not raining by Tru - or at least not enough to be noticed by the camera or to get her wet, which isn't a problem in and of itself, except that everybody around Tru is carrying umbrellas for some reason.

South Park (1997)

It's Christmas in Canada - S7-E15

Character mistake: In the first scene, the Broslofskis are lighting their hanukiyah. It is the first night, and the lone non-shamash candle is on the far left side as they look at it. However, Hanukkah candles are placed in the hanukiyah starting from the right.

Show generally

Revealing mistake: On 12/19/03, Sami was attacked by the masked killer in an alley. She breaks away from him or her, does a backflip, and lands near the opposite wall. Ali Sweeney, the actress who plays Sami, has straight blonde hair. During the flip, the stunt double also had blonde hair, but it was very curly.

Tru Calling (2003)

Morning After - S1-E7

Plot hole: The first time the day happens, Tru tells Luc that Mark called her, and later she tells him that he wants to talk to her, and Luc is fine with that because he trusts her. The second time, knowing that Mark was killed, she decides that she should agree to meet him when he first calls. But she lies to Luc about what she's doing. Why? She knows that he wouldn't have a problem with what she's doing, but instead she tells a lie that conveniently drives the episode's romantic plot.

Tru Calling (2003)

Morning After - S1-E7

Plot hole: There doesn't seem to be enough information about Mark's stabbing for Davis' computer program to determine how tall the attacker was. The main thing that's missing is any information about the angle of the knife's penetration. Without that, there should be no way to obtain the killer's height.

Tru Calling (2003)

Morning After - S1-E7

Plot hole: When Tru realizes that the yellow-handled knife Lindsay bought was the murder weapon, she gets rid of it. As a result, Lindsay needs to borrow a knife from Tru's neighbor so she can slice vegetables. The fact that Lindsay bought a knife for Tru, combined with the fact that Lindsay couldn't find one later, implies that Tru doesn't have a suitable knife of her own. But Tru served cut fruit to Harrison and his date several episodes ago, so she must already have a knife like that. In fact, pretty much everybody does. And there's no indication that Tru went around hiding all of her knives. In fact, the episode focused on that one, yellow-handled knife to an overly dramatic extent that bordered on inadvertant comedy.

Looking For Love in All The Wrong Cages - S2-E9

Factual error: The zoologist tells Gavin that he is handling a deadly coral snake. The snake is red, with black and yellow stripes, which is indeed the coloring of the coral snake. However, the yellow bands are inside pairs of black, and only the black touches the red. "Red touch black, good for Jack. Red touch yellow, kills a fellow." This is a harmless milk snake.

Plot hole: When Lucas pretended to be the killer on 12/16/03, he said that he wanted to give Sami a scare after becoming suspicious of her when he followed her to his mother's hotel suite. But if he was following her, then how did he get to the bedroom before Sami to jump out at her? And where did he get the cloak and mask on the spur of the moment?

Days of Our Lives (1965)

Show generally

Plot hole: On 12/16/03, Roman and Kate find out that Sami tried to frame Kate for the recent murders, and Kate asks Roman if the fact that Sami would frame her for murder might suggest that she could also be capable of actually committing murder. There are two very strange things about these scenes. The first is that Sami never brings up the fact that Kate framed her for murder years ago, which actually put Sami on death row in 1999. The second is that Sami's attempt to frame Kate seems to be the closest thing to murder Kate can think of to incriminate Sami, even though Sami actually shot a man (in the testicles, no less) in 1994.

Passions (1999)

Plot hole: When Sheridan wakes up in the hospital on 12/16/03, she doesn't remember what has happened to her. But she was fully awake when she fell off the cliff, and despite being shaken after she was pulled to safety, she walked off with Antonio and Luis so they could take her to the hospital. There is no point at which she lost consciousness, and there's no reason for her to be so confused.

Continuity mistake: The nameplate on Kate Roberts' door was seen on 12/12/03, and it lists her job title as "editor in chief." But Basic Black is a fashion designer, and nothing about the company or Kate's job has ever involved a publication of any kind.

Passions (1999)

Show generally

Continuity mistake: The week of 12/8/03, Child Protective Services took Little Ethan from Theresa. As one would expect, she became hysterically upset. But after her son was gone, Theresa calmed down enough to call the police station and Luis' cell phone, all while speaking and acting completely rationally. When she realized that everybody was at Sarah's funeral with their cell phones off, she decided to go there. Inexplicably, by the time she got there, she was completely hysterical again.

Timeline (2003)

Plot hole: Throughout the film, anybody who speaks English uses Modern English, with either a British or French accent as appropriate. However, 1357 was solidly in the Middle English period. Although that language would not be utterly incomprehensible to modern-day travellers, neither would it be indistinguishable as it was in the film. The film specifically draws the viewer's attention to language at several points, making suspension of disbelief impossible. The French speak French, and very few of them speak English. There is a scene in which Andre is talking to Claire, and her lack of knowledge of modern idioms makes the conversation difficult; that should be true for all characters at all times. If the historical people were talking alone among themselves, I could accept that they're being "translated" for us. But they're talking directly to the modern travellers - it's too jarring.
