I'm trying to find out the name of a film I saw on TV in the U.K. about 20 years ago. From what I remember it comprises a series of images of the world set to quite hypnotic electronic music, lasts about an hour or so and ends with the detonation of an atomic bomb. I believe the name was one word, non-English, possibly the name of an Aztec, Mayan or Incan god. I believe the director may have been Japanese. Can anybody identify this film from this information?

Answer: Koyaanisqatsi fits the description.

Ok. I remember a movie, sometime from the late 90's, and I just can't remember the name of it. I think the plot had something to do with a group of people runnng from a disease. The first part that I remember was this man in a Catholic church and the diseased people, who had red eyes, were running after him. He found refuge in a grocery somewhere in a destroyed city, where he found these 2 people. I think one of the people was an African American woman. They traveled around until they came to an apartment that had Christmas lights on the outside of the window. There, the origonal three people found a father and his daughter, both unaffected by the disease. They all listen to the radio and hear about an army base that is calling for all people who are not infected with the disease. As they make thier way there, an infected bird drips blood into the father's eye, and he becomes infected. The only way to get infected is to get an infected person's blood into your body, as if through a membrane such as your eye, or in a cut. Well, the others make thier way to the army base, and one of the people there asks the women to wear dresses. One man at the army base is infected, but chained up, and the army people are attempting to speak with him. That is all I remember, but does anyone know the name of this film?

Answer: The movie was "28 Days Later" and it came out in 2002.

Scene in this movie shows a girl standing in a circle of people and a large bell falls on her. Any ideas?

Answer: I believe you're thinking of The Watcher in the Woods. It's one of the first movies that stretched Disney away from the over-cute movies they are most known for. I very much enjoy it, but it can be creepy for the young'uns at times.

One classic movie cliche is an evil man tying a helpless maiden to some train tracks. Does anyone know which movie was first to include a scene like this?

Answer: "Barney Oldfield's Race for Life" (1913) featured the Villian tying Mabel to the tracks for rejecting his advances. Mabel's boyfriend must rush to the rescue.

Does anyone know which movie the line "to making it count" appears? All I can remember is people are making a toast in a bar I believe.

Answer: This was Leonardo DiCaprio's character Jack making a toast - in the first-class dinner scene from the movie "Titanic" - this toast follows a short speech he gives on how he goes about living his life, which to his surprise, intrigues many of the people at the table, who join him in his toast "to making it count".

I really need some help with a film I saw about ten years ago. I'm pretty sure it was an American movie. There was a boy who had a small, old closet in his room. He was playing with some toys, and locked up a little Indian doll in that closet. The next morning he heard some noises, and saw that the doll had come alive. I also remember that the boy had made a plastic deer come alive, so that the doll could hunt it.

Answer: I'm pretty sure you're thinking of the Frank Oz movie "The Indian in the Cupboard."

Can anyone tell me if "Land of The Dead" is the long awaited "Twilight of The Dead", or if "Land." is a different idea from "Twilight."?

Answer: Land of The Dead is the sequel to Day of The Dead, it went by many different names and had many different plots before it was made, one of them was Twilight of the Dead.

I'm looking for a name of a movie that I only remember the trailer for. The basic plot was either a weather forecaster, or a television anchor, goes out in the street to do a forecast and is told that the morning next it will either hail or snow (I can't recall) and then she dies a few days later. If anyone can recall the title, I'd appreciate the enlightenment!

I saw this movie years ago about a man and woman meeting in a sort of way station where it is decided if you have lived a good enough life to go to heaven or if you have to go back to earth and be reincarnated to try again. He finds out he was a tribesman eaten by an animal, she finds out she was Sir Lancelot or a knight. In the end she is going to heaven but he is not, and they fall in love and god lets them both go to heaven. Any idea what movie this is?

Answer: Sounds like "Defending Your Life" with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep.

I'm looking for a movie that came on HBO in the 80's. The movie was about a group of people who discovered that, I believe, a logging company was somehow getting chemicals in the water which caused everything to grow extremely large. They showed a tadpole that weighed about 5lbs, and at one point the group was attacked by an extremely large bear.

Answer: Prophecy, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079758/.

I'm looking for the title of a late 80's/early 90's movie about a yuppie couple having a baby. The husband is a columnist for a local paper and writes about the pregnancy in his column and the entire city follows along on their journey, to the dismay of the wife. He gets a police escort to the hospital when the cop realizes who he is.

Answer: I believe you are referring to "She's Having a Baby" (1988 Paramount Pictures), starring Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern. Alternatively a 1987 TV movie called Warm Hearts, Cold Feet. Starring Tim Matheson and Margaret Colins. They play rival newspaper reporters, who have a baby and they each report the highs and lows of pregnancy. The scene with the cop happens when he rushes home to conceive the child.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a Scarlett Johannson fan mail address (Snail mail, please)? Thanks for any help.

Answer: Scarlett is represented by the William Morris Agency, who can be written to at the address One William Morris Place, Beverly Hills, CA 90212, USA. This is probably the best avenue for sending fan mail.

I saw a movie in the mid to late 70's(i think). It was a psycho - thriller of a guy in a coma. I believe the title of the movie was Patrick, but i'm not sure. Can you verify my attempt of long term memory?

Answer: Yep, looks like your memory's on form. 1978 film of that title deals with a comatose patient, the titular Patrick, using telekinetic abilities to harrass and kill those around him in order to claim an attractive nurse as his own.

Me and my mum have been racking our brains to remember the title of a film we saw a few years back. We think it starred Ben Affleck. A guy who has a family has been away and is travelling back to them, I think his plane becomes delayed or something and 'Ben Affleck' gives his plane ticket to him so he can get home sooner. But the plane crashes, and the man dies. So 'Ben Affleck' finds himself feeling guilty for what happened to the guy and he becomes involved in the dead guys life. And plans to tell the wife of the guy what happened but ends up falling in love with the wife. Does anyone recognise this brief plot?

Answer: This is the 2000 film Bounce, starring Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow.

In the answer to another question, someone (with screen name Tailkinker) wrote, "filmmakers aren't going to inflict actual harm on human beings during the making of their films (intentionally, anyway - James Cameron notwithstanding)". What's this about? I know who James Cameron is, but is he renowned for injuring his actors or something? Thanks.

Answer: Cool, a question about an answer to another question. Like it. While intended humorously, Cameron has achieved a degree of notoriety for putting his actors through hell in the course of making a film. This is principally due to making "The Abyss" (also known on-set by various nicknames, including "The Abuse" or "Son of A Byss"), where actors and crew alike were expected to spend a considerable period of time underwater, to the extent that they sometimes needed to decompress at the end of the day's shoot. Ever since, Cameron has had a reputation as being a hard taskmaster while making films.

About ten years ago, I was watching a movie or show while trying to fall asleep. I was only 6 years old, so it is no wonder why I cannot remember anything about it other than this: A female was tied to a tree and she was being tortured. She at one point, she had twigs replaced for her hands, in her head, and her feet. This was not a cartoon so it scared me alot. Then there was a dinner scene, and a large group of people were sitting and a fight broke out and someone stabbed the other person with a fork in the throat. Then large white laundry looking bags were put over all the dead bodies. I could have sworn that I saw Alan Cummings but I was very young at the time so who knows.

Answer: It sounds a lot like "Titus", starring Anthony Hopkins. It's a somewhat different take (visually, at least) on Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus".

I'm looking for the name of a movie with a man called Ernie. It's a comedy and Ernie is gonna defeat some kind of monster. He gets a clue on how to defeat it and I think the clue is mlk, but he doesn't understand that it's supposed to be milk. I also have a little memory saying that the monster thought that Ernie was his mom or something in the end (after he got the milk) but I might be wrong on that. The movie is probably from late 80's or 90's.

Answer: The is "Ernest Scared Stupid" - he actually thinks the clue is MIAK instead of MILK.

I remember seeing a movie and I think it was by Stephen King, I'm not sure though. It was about these aliens and things turned green randomly in the movie. I remember this kid doing a magic show and under his table was a foot peddle that turned green. I also remember some kind of barn thing in some ones back yard where the aliens captured people and held them there and there was a green glow in and out of it. I think I remember these people at a store and one goes up to a vending machine and vaporizes. Please tell me what movie this is.

Answer: The Tommyknockers.
