I am looking for a film I saw about 20 years ago. I do not know the name of this film or any of the actors' names. There is a blond haired woman and a dark haired woman in this fim. The blond haired one seems to be a nice person who tries to reason all the time with the dark haired one who is not so nice. I remember the last scene where their house goes up in fire. The dark haired woman is trapped in it. The blond gets outside and with people around her looks up at the burning house. I think this film was made in the 60's. It is not "Rebecca."

Chosen answer: This sounds like one of the many move versions of the novel, "Jane Eyre."

In American movies, I sometimes notice little flag shaped things on people's letterboxes, that can be moved up and down. In Australia, where I live, I've never noticed these, nor have I noticed them in countries I've visited (I haven't visited America). What is the purpose of these flag shaped things, and are they solely American?

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: It's actually a very practical device, and they are mostly used in rural areas that have roadside letterboxes. The postal carrier puts the flag in the "up" position when there's a delivery. That way, the homeowner doesn't have to make an unnecessary trip down a long path and in bad weather to check for mail. The homeowner can also raise it when there is outgoing mail to be picked up.

I'm trying to find the name of a western I saw sometime in the early to mid 70's. There were several factions fighting over a gattling gun. I seem to recall a small number of cowboys, a bunch of soldiers and perhaps a Mexican army all trying to own the gun, the end of the movie is a big fight between them all. There might have been some nuns burying the dead at the very end but I might be confusing movies; it was a long time ago. Several people have suggested "The Gattling Gun" but I read a synopsis of that on imdb and it doesn't ring any bells. Any help would be most appreciated.

Chosen answer: The Wild Bunch - 1969, directed by Sam Peckinpah.

I saw a movie when I was younger and one scene stuck with me. I was not suppose to be watching the movie, I just happened to wake up and get a drink of water at the time, therefore I'm sure it was not a kid's movie. It was shown early in the evening on regular network TV (no cable back then) so I'm assuming it was either a very old movie for the time (pre-80's) and easily edited. This is all I remember for certain: there was a group of people on a train and people were being killed one by one. The scene I saw was of a man who was drugged or knock unconscious and placed, sitting up, next to the wheels of the train before it left the station so that the wheels would crush him as the train left. For some reason when I try to picture the guy, I think of Father Guido Sarducci from SNL.I don't know why. I'm fairly certain from the clothing, music, hairstyles and when I saw the scene on TV that it was made in the mid to late 70's. The things that stick in your brain, goodness. Please help me.

Chosen answer: This sounds very much like Terror Train - 1980, Jamie Lee Curtis.

A TV series during the 70's and 80's. I think it's about two brothers. One is a dwarf, very smart and thinks like MacGuyver. In one episode he's driving a car from the back seat and the driver in front doesn't know how the car is driving itself. Another involves them climbing walls. Anyone recognise this show?

gillian ahern

Chosen answer: Sounds like "The Wizard". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090547/

This film is about ants. It was made around the mid 80's/very early 90's. In one scene, there is construction going on around a few houses. One of the men thinks he knows where the ants are coming from. He gets a diggers and starts digging into the ground. As soon as he is into the ground, the ants start coming out from the ground. Towards the end of the film two of the men get trapped in a room by the ants; they roll up paper to use as an oxygen pipe and are told not to move. What is the name of this film?

I am trying to remember the name of a movie. I think it was out in the 90s. It was a mystery about a woman who,I believe, witnessed a murder. She was a member of a band (Irish, maybe)and played the electric violin. She might have been blind. I loved the music that the band in the movie played and want to buy the soundtrack, if I can remember the name.

Chosen answer: Sounds like "Blink", a 1994 film starring Madeleine Stowe and Aidan Quinn.

I'm trying to find a movie title - it was an 80's movie about a high school couple. They find out that the boy's mother killed the girl's sister several years ago when she was driving drunk on a rainy night. She hit her on her bicycle. Each year, the girl's mom sends her a black rose on the anniversary of her death. When the girl finds out who the boy's mom is, she refuses to see him. I can't remember the ending. Any help on a title is appreciated.

Chosen answer: When We First Met http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382373/

There was a cartoon movie on TV back in the late 60s or early 70s. I THINK it was a Christmas cartoon, but it was definitely Christian in nature. I remember there was a child, and a giant in a castle with a swing in the courtyard. The child would show up uninvited to the castle and irritate the giant (not Dennis the menace style, just his presence irritated the giant). The child stopped showing up for some time and the giant was visited by (for lack of a better word) spirits. The one I recall for sure was Hail: A knight in a full suit of armor dancing on the giant's roof. At the end, when the child returns, the giant is no longer mean-spirited and glad to see the child. The child explains that he was taken away as the reason why he no longer visited. The giant flies into a rage promising to find the kidnapper and promises to harm him. The child explains there is no reason to. He was taken to a wonderful, magical, etc., place and he can take the giant there too. He offers his hand to the giant and instantly it is obvious the child has died and was talking about heaven because the child has stigmata (wounds in the hands and feet as if he were nailed to the cross like Christ). The title has been eluding me for years and is driving me nuts.

Chosen answer: This sounds like "The Selfish Giant", a short story by Oscar Wilde from a collection called The Happy Prince and Other Tales. It has been adapted for film and television many times, but there was an animated version in 1971 which may be the one you are thinking of.

I am looking for the name of a movie that would have been made between the 70's and early 80's. It about 3 guys making an escape from prison onto a train. In one scene, the guys hide behind a false wall to conceal themselves when the carriage is investigated by a prison officer. In another scene, one of the prisoners gets his leg caught and badly injured in a bear trap. His friends try to save him, helping him walk through the snow, however he later dies and because they are starving they decide to eat him.

Chosen answer: Gulag (1985).

I watched a movie with my dad many years ago. It was a post nuclear war film, 1950 or 1960 time frame, and it was about a black man who was underground when it happened and when he came up no one was there. Later he found a white woman. He stole a car from a dealership. I can't remember much more. I need to find out the name of the movie. Can you help?

Chosen answer: Sounds like "Night Of The Living Dead" (1968).

John Cyr

I'm trying to find the name of a movie, possibly made for TV in the mid-to-late 90s. In 1850s Canada, a black man married to a white woman has a beautiful daughter, educated in Paris. He advertises for a white husband for her, who turns out to be a cruel, abusive man. He rapes her on their wedding night and then sells her into slavery in the U.S. In one scene, the mother is served tea by her own daughter, now a slave, on a plantation. They manage to get her away, but who was in it? IMDB doesn't show anything for the actors I think might have been in it, Lou Gossett, Jr., Eva Marie Saint, and Halle Berry.

Chosen answer: Sounds exactly like: Captive Heart: The James Mink Story.

Hey, I'm looking for an animated movie I saw approximately between 1995-2000 (possibly on the Sci-Fi Channel?), though I am not certain that is actually when the movie was made. It had a "Hobbit-like" creature in it as the main character with goblins as the enemies. This movie is a fantasy where there are swords and magic, however, the goblins have machine guns OR the main character flips out and goes on a killing rampage, in a scene that features crazy colors and blood everywhere. I would appreciate help I can get witht this. I will try to check back, however, welcome your email thoughts at mianuszak@gmail.com.

Chosen answer: Sounds like Wizards. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076929/.
